Both Vinnie and Dimebag have passed... this world is coming to shit...

I've been a Pantera fan for so long... since the late 80's... they were incredible musicians, and incredible people... may they rest in peace

Guys, this hits close to home for me. My band, when I lived in Columbus, played at the Alrosa Villa (the club) quite frequently. In fact, the photo in my avatar was taken during one of our shows at the Alrosa! I'm waiting to hear from my friends and former bandmates and hoping that they weren't there. Columbus seems to be a haven for psychopaths lately... first the highway sniper, now this. Talk about an angry fan... and they say Detroit fans are out of control.

that is so f'd up...to bad the shooter was killed...cause he got off way too easy...i never was really into Pantera (except their Planet Caravan cover) but Dimebag as a guitarist has been very influencial...this just sux...and how the FU#$! did the dude get in...i ALWAYS get my balls rattled when entering shows...

and did Vinnie die? or is he just critical?...anyway...they'll be missed....greatly...

Yeah, what the hell...don't they search people when they go into places like that anymore. I had a tiny little pocketknife on my keychain (like 1.5") and they took it from me, yet this guy gets in with a gun

There are multiple entrances to the club, and I can tell you from experience that the band and its entourage are not always searched like the rest of the crowd. This guy probably knew somebody with VIP access and came in with the band, roadies, groupies, or whatever. It wouldn't be too hard to sneak in the back door if you knew someone associated with the band.

Sad day for music. sad day for humanity. Dime was a shredder, and as XeRo pointed out, very influential in the metal world.

RIP

This morning they had laid a large bouquet of yellow roses in front of the Al Rosa Villa in memory of it all. It's a sad and horrible thing to have happened. Keeps things in perspective though. You never know when or where something horrible could happen. One second you are jamming at a concert, the next some ignorant bum jumps up and ends it...

According to damage plan, Vinnie was not killed in the shooting. Just FYI.

It's hard to believe, but he finally got smoked.

I just hope this doesnt cause draconian measures to be taken at small shows.
