And offered a buy back or debit card and free maintanence, which would you take?

I wouldn't take anything. I test drove the car and liked the performance. I don't feel "cheated" in terms of HP.

Do you mean again?

If so I would let them buy back my car a second time! It would be two free years of driving for me. I might even replace it with an Elise!

I love my 8, but if Mazda offered this right now I would honestly take the buy-back and wait hopefully for the release of the new rx7 or possibly a factory turbo 8.

I'd do the buyback, then spin right around and lease another one. Although, they don't make Lightning Yellow any more ... so that's a problem ...

when mazda offered the buy back did they pay you what you actually paid for it or did they come up with a nation wide figure?

They paid me back exactly what I paid less interest. :)

Your survey doesn't have enough options... :)

I'd keep the car and continue to do my own maintenance... At least the stuff I can do: oil changes, etc.

I didn't buy the car because it claimed (at the time) 247 HP. It could have been 160 HP and if the performance was the same as it is today I'd be happy. Then again, that's just me.

For the record, I took the $500 and free maint when they offered.

You might have to wait awhile. The waiting list here in Seattle is two to three years on a new Elise! Makes the waiting list for a Mini Cooper S seem trivial in comparison.

Yeah, that's why I'm glad they're not offering a buy back so I can get the Elise after my 8's paid off. :D
