View Full Version : Good position for GPS Ique 3600 PDA?

I bought last week a Garmin IQue 3600 (PDA with built-in navigation system). Works really nice; I just used it last weekend on a road-trip but I haven't found a good place in the RX-8 to mount it. I bought the car adapter with suction cups.

My problem with the RX-8 is that the angle of the front window is too low so I cannot place it on the glass. And it doesn't hold on the leather imitate dash. The only smooth spot is the CD player panel (just kidding)

Anyone here who found a good spot? The sliding center console would be great but the GPS has no reception there. I wish there was an external antenna.

I really don't want to buy that ugly bean-bag stand but I'm running out of ideas.

Is it very large ?

I've got the Garmin quest (pic below) and it fits really well on the windsheild ...

I have the Garmin and the beanbag. We don't use it in our 8 since we have nav. Shoot me a PM if you want to borrow the beanbag to try it out.

You can get remote antenas for those, and mount the Antena in the back window, and then you can put the display wherever.

I mounted my IQUE using a Proclip on the left side of the center airconditioning vent. It's probably the best position for visibility, but does block a third of the center vent, and blocks the clock. I used the Garmin automobile charger/holder/speaker gear and glued it to the Proclip mount. Their mounts are specifically made for each brand of car. Some users mount their IQUE on the left A/C vent but I find it awkward, too far from my line of vision of the road.

for ideas.

The center console between the seats would be dangerous, unless you were going to rely strictly on the audio navigation.
