I work at a Austin Dealer. I thought everyone would like to know that we have recieved our first invoice on a RX-8. Obviously to keep from an obscene advertising from a "dealer", I will leave it at that. Just thought it would be nice to let you know the wait is one step closer to being over.

As for gouging, all three Austin area Mazda dealerships (four if you include Bastrop) are part of the Roger Beasley group, and I understand they have a policy of never charging over MSRP.

Hope that invoice is for my car! :D

In reviewing the documentation provided, ther dealers selling at MSRP are going to do very well:

On the base manual, they start with 8.2% profit on the 6 speed. There is a 16.2% difference from invoice to MSRP on the GT package for the manual. Total profit at MSRP is 9.1%

Add to that a 2% dealer holdback from the manufacturer, and that is some serious ROI - return on investment.

Anyone paying more than MSRP is getting ROBBED.

I just checked with my Austin dealer (not the same one as OB1's), and he said that his summary screen is showing one car in "Factory" status instead of "Allocated", meaning it's been built. No VIN number, though.

And so it begins...

OB1, any other news? How many cars a day are they making? I have noticed no other state has mentioned VIN numbers yet. It would be great if Texas received their cars first, but I don't see how that could be.

Dallas area must have the number 1 dealership. At least any dealer I went to told me they were number 1.

I did a search on google to try to find the top dealers for Mazda and came up empty.

If any in the DFW Metroplex are #1, it'd have to Big Billy B.

The Austin Dealers are #2 an#3 in the country not state. The 2 big ones in Austin outsell any Mazda dealer in Houston in Dallas by 3 times. Billy B sells a small fraction of the volume that Roger Beasley North or Mazda South. Billy B might be #1, but in Dallas only not Texas.

Generally we have been known to see the first models first. We'll just have to wait and see.

Also, we have just recieved VIN#s on other models too. First one was not an ordered one but the others are. Some of the ones coming in have a projected ETA of 1st week in July.

Hope this helps.

Our salesman at Mazda South has also been the #1 in the US several times.

Guess the rest of y'all don't buy enough Mazdas. ;)

Hey OB1-

It kinda sounds like you might be with RB North. If so, I was wondering of the VINs you have recieved, which cars are they for? Preorder groups 1, 2, or 3? Dealer allocation? I was also curious as to how many orders/preorders for the 8 you guys have right now.

I do believe that Freeman Mazda is the number 1 dealer in the DFW area, if not the State.

It's been my experience that they are the most professional when it comes to the car buying experience. Also, they never charge over list.:p

I'm in the first allocation and I am told to expect my car by mid-July. It's Titanium, Red/Black Grand Touring with Nav, Appearance Pkge, Rear Wing and Rotary Accent Pkge.
