Ok, since we're trying to get more interesting threads in the lounge, I think it'd be really fun to have a DeLorean. Anyone else? What slightly reject-ish car would YOU like to own?

View Full Version : Wouldn't it be cool to have a DeLorean? Elara 05-13-2003, 07:32 PM Ok, since we're trying to get more interesting threads in the lounge, I think it'd be really fun to have a DeLorean. Anyone else? At least, it was discontinued from lack of sales/emissions for the US ... vipeRX7 05-13-2003, 11:33 PM wait wait all right the FD doesn't count but I've found something better: It is most likely the ugliest vehicle ever produced ... can you guess what it is? (see answer below ... :D) http://www.ifrance.com/denis-d/images/lm002.jpg http://4thmoon.com/toys/lm002.jpg It's the lamborghini LM002. And it's even uglier in silver ... Superfan 05-13-2003, 11:55 PM I guess the guy with the rifle in the second picture shot the owner for buying such a fugly truck. Seriously, the designer and staff that aproved that vehicle even as a pre-production concept should be stabed and shot repeatedly for that POS. tribal azn2 05-13-2003, 11:59 PM Originally posted by SpreeGuy gremlin. Good idea, bad execution, never really caught on. Lensman 05-14-2003, 03:03 AM Originally posted by Schneegz How about a VW Corrado VR6? Good idea, bad execution, never really caught on. What d'ya reckon was bad about it? I've driven one and it was just fine, looked good too. cueball 05-14-2003, 07:23 AM I have seen a Delorean with a 13b conversion. It was pretty cool. I'll post a pic if I find one. joofntool 05-14-2003, 07:40 AM Originally posted by Schneegz How about a VW Corrado VR6? Good idea, bad execution, never really caught on. No my friend try the Volkswagen thing from the mid 70's http://www.getty.net/thing/thing_best.jpg http://www.getty.net/thing/thing_back.jpg Styjan 05-14-2003, 07:48 AM Wow, I'm suprised no one posted this link. 20B 3 Rotor Delorean (http://www.eliseusa.com/rotary.htm) This guy droped a 20B 3 Rotor into his DeLorean! He claims 300HP, and 297ft-lb of torque at 3300RPM. http://www.eliseusa.com/images/delorean/mycarwet.jpg http://www.eliseusa.com/images/delorean/3rotor1.jpg joofntool 05-14-2003, 08:05 AM that delorian looks black......i thought the whole body on them was stainless steel (one of their marketing selling points). I didnt know how well paint adheres to SS. p.s. wasnt it great when John Delorian got caught? /cut to the airport " No im not trafficing drugs to revive my flailing car bizz.....no thats not coke in my breifcase, Hey where's you warrant!" Yes, all DeLoreans have stainless steel bodies, and yes, paint doesn't typically adhere too well to stainless, but there are ways of painting it or "blackening" / "coating" it. The firearms industry has been doing it for years. I've actually seen a DeLorean in person driving here on the streets of South Florida, but that was a few years ago. They are quite interesting cars. I must say that if you are used to how the "Back to the Future" DeLorean looks, the rear end of a real one will look a little surprising. The car does look a little like an elongated all stainless Toyota AE86 with gull wing doors. LOL ;) HottRodder 05-14-2003, 08:38 AM Does anyone remember these? http://www.bob2000.com/pangra.jpg There were Fords attempt at a working mans Pantera. My dad test drove a 71 pre L Pantera and really liked it. But it was going to be the familys only car and my mom couldn't get the clutch in. I know the only car being a 2 seat sport coupe sounds impossible but for years they shared an '85 vette. One of my memories of that car is driving home from the Xmas tree lot with our noble shoved into the hatch and nearly half of it sticking out. Corrado_hero 05-14-2003, 09:17 AM Originally posted by Schneegz How about a VW Corrado VR6? Good idea, bad execution, never really caught on. WHAT???? Never really caught on??? The Karman build Corrado VR6 was the fastest production VW ever built. The narrow V 6 cylinder engine was used for years in Golf's and Passats and led the way for todays super-super minis. The thing that really killed the Corrado was a combination of emission control regulations and greedy Insurance companies hiking their premiums. In my opinion the project should have continued. (But then I would say that...) RotaryStalker 05-14-2003, 09:24 AM http://www.928s4vr.com/fredporshe2.JPG (not my old car.. don't know my link to my pics here at work) Any 928 made after '87. Preferably the GT. Had a '87 928 S4 that was sold recently. One of the most misunderstood supercars ever made. Way ahead of its time when first produced in '78. A perfect combination of muscle, style and comfort. The car was a blast to drive but a bit expensive to maintain. Unfortunately it was never accepted by the pure Porsche enthusiasts for several reasons. Ironically the 928 was the first car Porsche ever designed from the ground up. The 928 5-speed is one of the few Porsches made from 100% Porsche parts. Watch for a new V8 front engine coupe similar to the 928 to be brought out by Porsche soon. :D RotaryStalker bwayout 05-14-2003, 10:08 AM I personally have a fondness for my old 1990 Ford Probe, I just loved everthing about it (now, I need to go through my old photo albums ... and reminisce) When I bought it new I had a special low profile rear wing and a larger power sun roof added! It was my best friend for over 12 years until that sad day last January ... :( But I also have always love the old american classic 1963 Studebaker Avanti! :D http://www.rx8club.com/attachment.php?postid=28449 Edit: Oh I also forgot to add the AMC Pacer. I owned a 1975 red one and it was (believe it or not) actually a very fun car to drive around in! :D bluesunlion 05-14-2003, 11:24 AM Sunbeam Tiger. My uncle has an engine-less one rusting in his barn. It kills me to think about it. (dunno if that is a reject though) Schneegz 05-14-2003, 02:47 PM Now THAT is cool! Who would'a thunk it? A Delorean with a 3-rotor! As for the VW Corrado, the VR6 was good. It was the original supercharged 4-cyl that was kind of blah. I should have specified. |
