Ordering a velocity red real soon. Thought I had my mind made up on black interior. Saw a red with chapparel yesterday. Thought it looked awesome. Does anyone else feel the same way? :)

My dealer has one like that in the showroom. I liked Chaparral online, but after getting inside, I had mixed feelings. My wife hated it. I personally think the black/red interior is much better. Ultimately, it's your view every day so get inside, look around and go with your gut.

BTW, my 8's interior is black/yellow, so take this with a couple grains of salt.

Personally, I like the chaparral - but not with the red.
If my car was red, I'd go with the black/red or all black interior.

Red with chaparral? Definitely not my cup of tea!

I love my chapparal and black combo, but I don't think it would look great with the Velocity Red... a little clashing. After seeing DMENAC's VR with black leather, I think that's the best look (for red).

black and chapparal isn't that bad but red and chapparal just doesn't match....

hmmm. Havn't seen a positive yet. Either gotta change the exterior or the interior. I like the 2 tone, but the red black is a little too much.

Go for it if you like it. The only thing you have to worry about is your ability to sell the car in the future.

So judging by the comments made thus far...... definitely no VR with Chapparal if you take that into consideration. :)

i like the red/black leather, but it too is controversial. The only safe color combo is all black.

I agree- it's a really bright red. Looks very sporty... but you have to like it enough to live with it for a while.

I have the black/chapparel with Velocity Red and it looks awesome. Black/red would get a bit tiresome, a bit to flamey looking. And believe me when it comes time to sell, I don't beleive the seat color will make or break the deal. The overall car package and mileage will do it. My 8 is loaded, every option except the nets/mats in the trunk. All black is just to, well plain.

chaparrel only goes with black or Titanium (best with Titanium)...... get the black and red

Chap. goes good with Nordic too, just to muddy the debate a little.

I got pretty close to going with a red/black leather in my white but held fast for the black/black leather instead. I'm glad I did.

I also have the brown with my red 8

I really like the combo -it looks classy to me

I think brown looks better in leather than red
the red didn't look right to me

It's really a matter of taste, but since you're asking for our opinion, I think the brown is pretty hideous myself. But you know what, it's your car, you should get what you like, forget what we think.

the black and red combo is perfect for black. With the red I probably would go with all black or get aftermarket black with red stiching leather.

I have been debating that similar option. I want a velocity red, but the dealer up here only has one with the black/red. It really looks cool, but in say 5-10 years, will I still like it? A lot of versions of my current car have alcantra inserts that are color matched, bright blue, red, yellow, "silver" (more like white) and tehy still look really good after 4-5 years of ownership. In the end it is personal preference like others have said. I have only seen web clippings of the chapparel and it does not look too bad, although have yet to see it in real life. I'd say it coudl be a good mix. Not as bland/plain/conventional as the black/black, but not as bright/loud/sporty as the black/red. Curently I'd be all for it, but if I didn't like it I'd go reb/black.

red ferraris have tan leather inside, i dunno, i think this combo would make it look a little more like a ferrari. thats a good thing as far as im concerned.

I really liked this in the Titanium and thought I would in the red, but with the different grays inside it started to look too busy to me. I even had the car pick out and went to buy it but changed to the red/black. Glad I did but I still like the classy look of the chapparel.

thanks for the input and the pics. This interior/exterior choice is driving me crazy. I love the red, but wonder if it is too hot! All day long I have been thinking about the titanium with chapparel, but I always come back to the red. No matter how hard I try, I just am not that fired up about the titanium.

I think all are going to be hot since there is so much black in them anyways. I will have a sun shade for next summer.

You'll love no matter which you get :)

I had to have the red with red and black, my test drive car was also red but with chapparel and it turned me off, it's like the amber corners to me, it just doesn't seem to go and creates a clash in my mind.

Computer moniters do not accurately present true color. One has to see the car--preferably in several different "light" settings. Velocity Red leans to the yellow side of red. Chapparal brown interior also decidedly more yellowish brown than reddish brown. I work with color a lot. To my eye, "too yellow" is the reason the chapparal doesn't go well with Velocity Red----along the same premise as combining a tomato with pumpkin pie. The two colors do not meld, nor complement; they clash.

In the 05's, I've read here, Mazda went with Taupe interior. Taupe is a reddish brown and will very likely be a good complement with all exterior colors offered in 05.

What he said... two on the left are mine.. I like less chapparel (inserts) rather than all tan in my baby... but other one (Ferrari) is pretty OK looking too :)
