Oh cmon...resignations happen every time an incumbent is re-elected. They've been there for four years and now it's time to move on.

Here's to Condoleezza being the new Sec of State...Hope Hillary will be ready to take her on in four years. Go Condi go!!

I seem to recall that when the idea of Colin Powell running for President was floated several years ago, Powell's wife and family convinced him not to do it. Something about they wanted him to stay alive.

Sad to say, there are still people out there who would take grave offense at a person of color becoming President of the United States and would take trusty gun in hand to do sumpin' about it.

To me he always seemed to hide and wasn't really that bold like rummy is. Not sure he ever wanted to be part of the Bush cabinet from the get go. If he is offered the job when rummy takes off perhaps we will see then. He might do better as Sec of Defense since he has the mil background. That's if he wants to put up with the boss.

She was an idiot back when she was president. Don't give her another job.

I regret my earlier posts on another thread regarding Colin Powell. I have more respect for the man in his resignation than I ever had while he served with Bush. It appears that he did not and does not support the war on Iraq.

The report states "On the record, Powell has told reporters that the insurgency in Iraq has grown stronger and that he might not have supported the war if he'd known Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction." We all know Powell is a good soldier and he supports his boss. Once he's out he might say a thing or two. Many folks say that including Powell about his support of Iraq. I think he had a problem being upstaged by Rummy and others. Rice is going to experience some of that too. I am not sure what she will accomplish as Sec of State. Powell will be a tough act to follow and so Rice is going to have a real mess on her hands.

I think Powell is 100% correct that the insurgency in Iraq has certainly grown stronger. I hope Fallujah broke their backs but we shall see in the coming months.

Right on! Give up the RX-8 (Powell) in the white house and get a freakin Kia (Condi)! That's what's happening there right now.

You act like "Condi" is an idiot. She is more educated and smarter than 99% of the people in this country. Go look up her credentials before you are so quick to criticize. Then compare them to yours (or mine! It doesn't matter).

Condoleeza Rice is an amazing person. She would make a great president, and hopefully will.
