shigginsrx8 11-14-2004, 04:53 PM Apparently the page cannot be found???
DaveT 11-14-2004, 05:04 PM Try the link now. Brain and fingers not in unison. Sorry.
shigginsrx8 11-14-2004, 05:06 PM bingo.
Looks good, and that fontana village is sweet
Icemastr 11-14-2004, 05:09 PM Well if they don't have sevenstock next year I might try and make it :D
Razpewton 11-14-2004, 05:21 PM Considering the fun we had during the first Dragon event, there's no way I'm gonna miss this one. It will be even better than the last!
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee HAW!!! :D :D :D
Elara 11-14-2004, 08:12 PM This is going to be 10X better than this year's, and this year's was absolutely amazing!
om-nc 11-14-2004, 08:40 PM Thanks to all of the coordinators. I plan on being there and getting to see all of you again. Randy, the site looks great. DaveT, I returned to autox after a 25 year absence and I am having a blast. My 17 yo son competed with me today for the very first time, on a very fast course and did great. He was only 3 secs out of FTD in b-stock. I am already thinking about next year at the dragon. It is going to be GREAT!

It will be great to see you again Paul.
We're rolling this out early in order to give everyone time to make plans for what is evolving into an annual event. As people check out the facilities and more sponsors come onboard, were planning new activities for the 2005 event. These will include onsite vendors, tuning sessions, and optional choices such as whitewater rafting, site-seeing and horseback riding, in addition to the Challenge of the Dragon. Fontana Village was a logical choice for the meet this year, as it will afford ALL participants time to enjoy the area, without having to setup, serve or cleanup. We have better pricing with them, and the services available are far more extensive.
As mentioned before, keep checking on the website for updates and rollcall lists. All details for registering and enrolling has been posted there, including other items of interest for all.
SEE YOU AT THE DRAGON!!!
epitrochoid 11-14-2004, 10:31 PM no mansion!?!
Meowloud 11-15-2004, 08:42 AM No place to lounge around in our skibbies without other guests around? :(
DaveT 11-15-2004, 09:08 AM Check out the Party Houseboat if you have large number in your party..............
If it's total privacy you're after, go with a 1BR/1BA cottage.................................
On site amenities (food, gas, etc.)............................................. ..........................
Closer to the Dragon............................................ ................................................
Bunches of "extra" activities available......................................... .........................
Something for everybody, and space for more participants..................................
More reasonable rates............................................. ................What's not to like?
Meowloud 11-15-2004, 09:09 AM GROUP privacy was what I'll miss :(
guy321 11-15-2004, 09:11 AM Why can't we get the mansion again, is it a question of availability or space?
If it's space, maybe some of us could get together and stay at the Mansion. :D
epitrochoid 11-15-2004, 01:11 PM thats what i was thinking...but then again, I wouldn't want everyone to not be there.
the mansion is a blast, but im sure we'll have fun wherever we're at.
BlueGrimRX8 11-15-2004, 01:56 PM You will still be able to have Group Privacy with one of the bigger Cottages (the same thing as the Mansion just a different place) There will not be other guests in the cottages with you. If you make a reservation for one of the cottages you control who is in there with you. Same idea as the Mansion just CHEAPER!!!!!
Check out my signature for other goodies!!!
epitrochoid 11-15-2004, 02:40 PM i dunno, something about the 'summer camp' feeling of everyone being shacked up together..just made it funnier.
now we run the risk of TOTAL STRANGERS seeing us nekkid in the hot tub
guy321 11-15-2004, 02:50 PM Yeah, instead of just partial strangers :D
How far away are the big cabins from eachother? Is there a hot tub? I didn't see anything about one in the literature..
The boat looks cool!
BlueGrimRX8 11-15-2004, 03:04 PM Yeah thats why you rent the boat. The Mansion would not even come close to housing the number of people we plan to have this year. Thats why we had to opt for a different solution.
Hence why we made multiple options to choose from. The houseboat would be awesome for everyone from last year. Then you could just jump in the water nekkid...hahaha.
The cabins are all close by so no problems there. Like on HUGE BLOCK PARTY!!
guy321 11-15-2004, 03:07 PM Is the water cold??! I dont want my parts to look small on camera!!! :D

again :D
I liked the mansion because it was just us there, no one to piss off, we could go outside and set our car alarms off and only piss off a bunch of ostriches. it was easy to get ahold of everyone since we were all right there. maybe the veterans of the dragon will just have to rock the boat.

Elara 11-16-2004, 09:12 AM Looks like a lot of the cabins have hot tubs- just gotta call and make sure you get one of those. Just thing- we can have a naked cabin crawl, with different drinks(and hot tubs) at each one!
And guys, if you haven't already- check out the raffle. http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=44973
with only 200 tickets being sold, your chances of winning are pretty good, especially if you buy more than 1 ticket. And just think about all the goodies you can get for your car with $500!
guy321 11-16-2004, 09:26 AM Won't you join us on the boat Elara?? You can be the Skipper! :D

MI_FamilyMan 02-02-2005, 09:25 PM For the completely uninitiated, can someone describe what kinds of things will take place during this weekend? Interpret that question however you like...
But seriously, I am curious to know what it's all about.
Razpewton 02-03-2005, 07:12 AM For the completely uninitiated, can someone describe what kinds of things will take place during this weekend? Interpret that question however you like...
But seriously, I am curious to know what it's all about.
Certainly...
What started last year as a simple post by epitrochoid, resulted in a gathering of about 26 people in the Smokey Mountains, to meet, converse and challenge the Tail of the Dragon. The "Tail of the Dragon" is an 11 mile, mountain road with 318 curves and no other roads joining into it. The RX-8, being the high-performance, smooth handling creature she is, was a PERFECT match for these twisting, curving roads. Car Clubs from all over the USA gather there for meets and to "challenge" the Dragon. The driving experience alone is a pleasure you won't soon forget.
Last year, we rented an 18 room mansion and gathered on Friday night. We ran the Tail of the Dragon on Saturday, and had our banquet on Saturday night. Many sponsors came together to donate doorprizes. The picture-taking opportunities were phenomenal, to say the least. In essence, it was one of those events in your life that you'll cherish memories of forever.
Another facet which contributed to the success of this meet was the people. Imagine 26 people coming together for the first time, and truly enjoying the company of every single one. Each person had their own persoanlity, perspective and character, but the subtle charm of the mountains and surrounding area seemed to induce a harmonious comraderie, seldom experienced in normal, day-to-day events.
We enjoyed the damn thing so much, we decided to do it again! Hell, we've decided to make it an annual affair!!
This year, many of us are going up early, to make it a 4 day vacation from the 7th of Sept through the 11th. Last year I took my daughter. This year I'm taking my whole family. There is so much to do and see up there, I'd be foolish NOT to make it a family affair. You have horse-back riding, white water rafting, museums, the Smokey Mountain Railroad, casinos and, of course, the mystical beauty of the mountains. We will also be giving away some pretty nice doorprizes, having guest speakers and as many vendor setups as possible. We will be posting an itinerary soon, detailing activties and outlining things to do. The official "meet" will probably be held on Saturday.
With your registration, you'll receive a discount to the Fontana Village, where we'll be gathering this year to accomodate all the people we anticipate attending, a certificate of induction into the RX-8 Brotherhood of the Dragon, a goody bag, a Brotherhood of the Dragon t-shirt, a ticket for a chance at winning one of the doorprizes and a feast fit for a king.
Use the links below to explore associated websites featuring the Dragon and the area. Then, come and join us for socializing, feasting and the CHALLENGE OF THE DRAGON. Hopefully, we'll see you there!

This alone, except for the 318 other reasons, made the trip worth while. I look forward to seeing you guys but with 2 different 8's this time. I wonder how my R- Comp tires will do on the new asphalt.......hmmmm....

it's just such a long ride. 12 hours? going down probably isn't too bad but coming home you're probably wiped out. i don't know if i have it in me. :D
devoid 02-03-2005, 12:25 PM I'm planning on going as well and bringing my black beauty, but I'm just waiting to register to make sure that the car is all said and done. As long as it's done in the beginning of march, it should be on the road by april.
So that means I'll be heading down from Cleveland. I could join up with the "Philly" caravan!
Razpewton 02-03-2005, 12:30 PM It wil be great meeting more new people. I'm gonna put a count-down times on the main BOTD page.
This is gonna ROCK!! :D :D
HETZ?? You coming?? I've heard rumors about a pink belly... :D
BlueGrimRX8 02-03-2005, 12:56 PM Devoid I think you will fulfill some fantasy's if you make it down!!! I know you will fulfill mine, I really want to see that car.
Not to get off track but I looked up the price of that LED underbody kit....OMG!!!!! I can't wait to see that in person. Not to mention I hope to have the Screen for my PC fiberglassed in the dash similar to yours by then.....Could your shop tell my shop what parts of the radio needed to be left in to keep everything functional?
Back on track, I think we are gonna have some of the more active members up there this time around.....DON'T MISS IT!!!!
The trips there and back are a blast too, just make sure you get in with a caravan of people coming from your area and you will have the time of your life!!
epitrochoid 02-03-2005, 01:13 PM with any luck, i'll be FI'd and on HKS suspension by early august...just in time to fly off a cliff!
BlueGrimRX8 02-03-2005, 02:05 PM First dibs on any surviving parts at the bottom of the cliff!!
DaveT 02-03-2005, 04:29 PM Sorry, BlueGrimRX8, what happens in Tennessee, stays in Tenessee.
Genom 02-03-2005, 04:46 PM Alright, I got the ball rolling. I'll paypal my money in tomorrow next week when I get paid.
Probably just gonna be me as the wife aint into this sorta thing. If it is just me I hope to share space with someone. Be forwarned, I snore like a chainsaw :D
epitrochoid 02-03-2005, 06:15 PM not it!
MI_FamilyMan 02-04-2005, 12:36 PM Thanks everyone (esp. Raz) for the added detail and information concerning the event. Very nice write-up, and I have to say that I am really intrigued. My main concerns are how far I am (Michigan) and whether or not my wife would want to go with me. I doubt I would be "allowed" to go solo... But at least there is still time to decide and I have no vacation time planned yet for this year. And I do have to figure out how many miles this would put on my car...
And for the record, I only drink my wine out of a box... ;)
om-nc 02-04-2005, 01:53 PM And for the record, I only drink my wine out of a box... ;)
Not even two buck chuck? Maybe you need to introduced to the fine spirits in the south.......Boone's Farm, Annie Green Springs, and the old stand by MD 20-20.......
Hope you can make it. Raz and guys I will register soon. Work is getting in the way of my fun, it may be time to retire AGAIN!
Paul
epitrochoid 02-08-2005, 01:21 AM MD 20-20.......
anyone who brings MD 20/20 gets to drive my car the WHOLE weekend!
because i sure as hell wont be! dirtysouthforlife!
Gladiatoiz 02-08-2005, 07:03 PM I would love to come but I think its a little too far for me. I live in Portland Oregon, way on the west side. Plus Sept 7th is my 19th BIRTHDAY.
epitrochoid 02-08-2005, 08:43 PM poor excuse!
epitrochoid 02-08-2005, 08:50 PM i've been having second thoughts about it...
1. it doesnt leave the dock
2. someone (probably me) has to front all the money and be reimbursed. randy you know how that goes...
3. it's sort of away from all the action
4. we may not be able to be in close proximety to our cars...something that's important to me whenever i'm in a 'condense' area like that with people i dont know (not you guys, but other random tourists)
DaveT 02-08-2005, 09:00 PM Brian - Get one of the larger cabins then. They are grouping us together as much as possible just so we're not spread out all over the place and so we can keep an eye on each other's vehicles, etc. Looking forward to seeing you again.
epitrochoid 02-08-2005, 11:19 PM yeah, that's what i was planning on doing. it slipped my mind that these cabins have several bedrooms.
who wants to bunk up in the sin bin!
speedweasel 02-12-2005, 11:16 AM Just wanted to let you know we now have the use of the boat at the Fontana village for all nights of the event!
Bring your swimming suits!
epitrochoid 02-13-2005, 04:28 PM that's got trouble written all over it..lol..what kinda boat is it?

speedweasel 02-13-2005, 08:54 PM The boat is houseboat....sorry, no wakeboarding! :D

epitrochoid 02-13-2005, 09:15 PM ooo the houseboat...i was hoping for like a malibu or a donzi or something lol
BlueGrimRX8 02-16-2005, 06:49 PM Alright everyone, I had been out of town for a few days. The Raffle and Registration pages are updated. 122 TICKETS SOLD!!! We are getting there. Can't wait for this thing to end so we can give these great prizes away!!
Jdunsh 03-14-2005, 10:55 PM I love my car and all, but I think this "brotherhood" of the dragon thing is taking it a little too far.
E-brake 03-14-2005, 11:12 PM I love my car and all, but I think this "brotherhood" of the dragon thing is taking it a little too far.
It looks a bit boring to be honest.
Track days anyone? Maybe some twisty side streets somewhere? A tity bar anyone ?
Anything is better than just hanging out at someone's house...
Elara 03-14-2005, 11:46 PM I love my car and all, but I think this "brotherhood" of the dragon thing is taking it a little too far.
Uh, it's just a get together to drive the Tail of the Dragon- how's that taking it to far? We had an amazing time last year, so the guys are setting it up again. If you don't want to go, don't- but don't pick at something you don't understand either.
And E-Brake, it wasn't AT someone's house- they rented a mansion in the Rocky Mountains, and local people came in from the surrounding area. This year it's at a resort. And honestly, if you find this road boring, I'd hate to see what you think is exciting- some of the best driving on the east coast. Most of the big car clubs have special events here- not exactly your run of the mill driving experience. Honestly, guys, what was the point of posting stuff if you think it's going to suck so much? Did you even look at the info for it before you made comments?
BlueGrimRX8 03-14-2005, 11:51 PM Jdunsh - you are more than welcome to your opinion, thats why we open it up to anyone that is interested, very similar to a car show.
E-Brake - I don't believe that you understand nor do I believe you took the time to read any of the posts on this event. This is an event held at Deals Gap North Carolina. There is a road there called US129, also known as the Tail of the Dragon (hence the name brotherhood of the dragon). This road has a lot of similarities to "track days" and "twisties". There are 318 turns in 10 miles of road, there are no cross streets to interfere and many car clubs meet there on an annual basis to hang out, enjoy a great driving experience, then have some beers and have a good time. This is what the event is all about. We are doing nothing even close to hanging out at someones house. We have rented a large group of cabins near US129 as well as a banquet hall. We have many sponsors as well as a great staff of people planning the event.
We respect everyone's educated opinion and please feel free to pass up this thread when reading through the forums if you are not interested. If you are interested please feel free to let me or anyone else on the event planning board if you have any questions. You can also visit the links in my signature for more information as well as a great raffle for all of the rotary community.
edit: Elara and I posted at the same time, sorry for a lot of duplication, but I think it provides even more insight and helps everyone to understand they must read the whole thread before posting to increase there post count.
E-brake 03-14-2005, 11:52 PM I was just asking. I'm not trying to start a rant or anything...
I didn't see many cruising pix. I saw a car wash and a bit of hanging out... What else am I to assume?
oh, and my idea of a great road is one so twisty and wooded you can't see more than 20-30ft in front of you :D
What else did everyone do last time?
E-brake 03-14-2005, 11:55 PM hmmm, interesting...I'll have to see when I have vacation days available
BlueGrimRX8 03-15-2005, 12:01 AM Like we said before, you didn't bring your post to say you were just asking, because you came across that you didn't read any of the posts above or any of the other threads on the subject, which if you haven't seen all the posts then you haven't read much
For everyone here are plenty of pictures, partying, driving, hanging out, the mansion, car wash, hanging out more, etc

/rant Please don't take this in a harsh way, I just wish people (not just you) would take a little time to read threads before just posting senseless posts. /rant
Jdunsh 03-15-2005, 02:54 AM I understand what its all about, i've seen the pictures, videos etc. I definitely like to see people getting together on a common ground, especially the 8, so in that sense I applaud you. I guess I was just commenting on the choice of words (Brotherhood), for the get-together.
Elara 03-15-2005, 09:51 AM oh, and my idea of a great road is one so twisty and wooded you can't see more than 20-30ft in front of you :D
That's exactly what this is :) There could be 30 cars n the half mile in front of you, and unless you caught up wit them, you'd never know. There aren't a lot of pictures from THAT section of the road because it's very hard to hold the camera still- believe me, we tried, repeatedly.
InuYasha 03-15-2005, 05:22 PM I love my car and all, but I think this "brotherhood" of the dragon thing is taking it a little too far.
Obviously, you have not ridden the dragon. Don't knock it until you have tried it!

the weekend was more than just driving...it was all about meeting new people and getting drunk with them (no DUI'ing though). there are no crusing pics because if youre operating a camera while driving any of the roads we were cruising on, there better be a medivac chopper close by.
give us the chance to prove you wrong and come out this year!
BlueGrimRX8 03-24-2005, 03:22 PM Just made my reservation!! Can't wait!! Lets go guys registration for the event is still slim and in order to get the group rate you need to be registered by July 28, 2005!
MI_FamilyMan 03-25-2005, 09:11 AM There is definitely some interest here on my part, but since I still have some time to decide and do some convincing (it is a loooong ways from here and after all, I am a "FamilyMan"...), I cannot make any commitments yet. The idea of all those 8's winding through the Smoky Mountains is definitely intriguing.
BlueGrimRX8 03-25-2005, 09:49 AM Time for a family vacation! We have a couple members that are bringing thier families. There is plenty of room and we have plenty of activities planned that are family outings. Don't worry as it gets closer we will do a great job of convincing you!
Razpewton 03-25-2005, 11:05 AM There is definitely some interest here on my part, but since I still have some time to decide and do some convincing (it is a loooong ways from here and after all, I am a "FamilyMan"...), I cannot make any commitments yet. I'm taking my entire family. There's horseback riding, museums, shopping, The Smokey Mountain Railway, Indian Reservations, white water rafting.....what better place for a family vacation? woooo hoooo :D
...and the list of doorprizes is growing.
MI_FamilyMan 03-26-2005, 08:34 AM Very nice, Raz...
And thanks guys for the advice. I will have to do some research on the area. BTW, my son is 4 (I guess 5 by then) and my daughter's 1 yrs. old, so I don't know how well the trip would work out. I might have a better chance leaving the bundles of joy at the grandparents and taking the wife down with me.
I guess if we make it to the end of summer and we still don't have our vacation used up, we'll have no choice but to come down, right?? Haha... (evil grin)

It's even worth it if you're out of vacation ! !
Use some "sick" days, 'cause if you don't you're surely gonna be sick................ ;)

:)
Seriously, try and make it. We REALLY had a great time last year. This year will be even better, as a couple days have been added, we're slowing down the pace a bit more to take advantage of the sites and attractions of the area. There will be many give-aways, awards, socializing, good eating and picture taking.
The only reason we are doing this is because we had such a good time last year. We're not making any money....just socializing with friends and family, while enjoying the natural beauty of the Great Smokey Mountains and experiencing the thrill of challenging the Dragon! The t-shirt ALONE is worth the journey! :D :D
MI_FamilyMan 03-31-2005, 12:22 PM Thanks, Raz... I really am thinking about it, despite the almost 600 miles each way (I Mapquested it the other day). It's definitely on my list... but I don't even have my 1-yr. old's first birthday planned yet, and it's tomorrow! So you know how it is... I'll definitely decide before the deadline.
Gotta go find a cake for my little girl to spread all over her face now... :)
Straight8 04-02-2005, 11:58 AM I think I'm going to make the pilgrimage and join you all. Wish more peeps from the Texas area were interested in going, I'm sure it will be a great time.
BlueGrimRX8 04-02-2005, 02:01 PM Please join us, check out the links in my sig to register!! We had a blast last year and we only had 2 days, now we have almost 5!!
epitrochoid 04-02-2005, 07:47 PM im sure more people will sign on with us as time goes on...it's not too bad a drive from DFW i'd guess
MI_FamilyMan 04-03-2005, 11:32 AM The thought just occurred to me that my son will be starting kindergarten this fall. So I will probably need to come up with something creative because I don't want him missing any school.
Razpewton 04-04-2005, 07:03 AM 155 DAYS TO GO!!

Woooo Hoooo!!

DaveT 04-04-2005, 08:08 PM The fishing is damn decent smrx8. Check out some of the assocoated web sites linked thru our event web page HERE (www.mazdanow.com/dragon2005) .
As far as driving time from NJ, check with MazdaspeedFeras, he made the trip last year.
Make your plans and come on down. We'ed love to have ya ! ! :) :) :) :)
Genom 04-05-2005, 11:25 AM Thw wife doesnt wanna take that car trip so I'll be flying solo.
On the upside, thats just more trouble I can get into.

As long as we're not completely disabled by circumstances beyond our control at that point, the husband and I will do our best to contribute to the trouble.
guy321 04-05-2005, 11:32 AM Are you bringing me more backup drivers? :)
As long as we're not completely disabled by circumstances beyond our control at that point, the husband and I will do our best to contribute to the trouble.
Elara 04-05-2005, 01:07 PM Are you bringing me more backup drivers? :)
depends on your definition of backup driver...:D But probably bringing Chris from last year at least for a day or so. No collapsing halfway through the run from an exhausting night of deauchery on us this year! Suck it up this time!
Kid_Icarus 04-05-2005, 01:09 PM Is anyone from California going? I was thinking of taking leave for this but I'm kind of worried about doing a cross country trip with my baby. Then again what would be the point of going if I can't drive the 8 through those corners. Are there any Cali people driving there or are they all going to fly.
DaveT 04-06-2005, 08:18 PM Bring the car and come on Kid. And, just for safe measure, watch your altitude since you'll get pretty close to the Sun along the way...... ;) :D
BlueGrimRX8 04-06-2005, 09:06 PM California would definitely win the longest drive award!!!! ;)
All this interest lets get some more people registered, remember you can register and you have til July 28 to pay!
devious12 05-30-2005, 07:13 PM I'm thinking about going, I didn't see anyone from NY on the registration list, did anyone from NY attend last year?
devoid 06-03-2005, 01:34 PM Alright peeps...I know you've all been waiting to hear this, but I've finally registered. So...now that the easy part is over for me...now to the hard part: Where am I gonna stay? Ladies, offers? Haha...JK! ;-) (Maybe) Anyway, seriously...it appears like most people are shooting for the cabins, since we can park fairly close, keep an eye on the cars, and hot tubs woohoo! What cabins are people lookin' at? I guess I'b be lookin' at the Hemlock cottage to split with someone. As of now, I'll be comin' down alone, but I can't guarantee that won't change. So let me know if anyone is interested in splittin' a 2 bedroom cabin.
As a sidenote....maybe on the rollcall page, you can include:
1. Who's stayin' where
2. If they're lookin' for others to share the cottage/boat
know what I mean?
Thanks guys!
PS - I've been drivin' the car....and it is AWESOME! WOOHOO! It is so far out of this world...damn I'm a good designer! Now if only a major auto or auto electronics manufacturer would take notice! ;)
devoid 06-07-2005, 04:54 PM Bump! Hello?
ALWAZL8 06-07-2005, 07:46 PM I think I'm gonna try to make the trip. I'll be fighting with Straight8 for the lead position all the way over. :D
DaveT 06-08-2005, 09:15 PM We'll be glad to have you guys. Look forward to seeing you. We're currently finalizing some of the event sponsorship participants and should have an event update in the next couple of weeks. Check the site often HERE (www.mazdanow.com/dragon2005)
smrx8 06-08-2005, 10:35 PM i think ill be going
BlueGrimRX8 06-09-2005, 10:38 AM Wow sorry, since the email notice isn't working on the site I missed these latest posts.
Devoid: We are all shooting for the cabins as thats where we have the discounts set up. We also have it set up so that everyone makes their own reservations, so at this point I don't have a way to see who is staying in which cabins, but rest assured that all the cabins that we have reserved are all close together and we will all be able to park our cars close, etc. There are a few people trying to get the houseboat going but I am not sure how that panned out, you may want to find that thread in the lounge where everyone was talking about it. Don't forget to send in the registration fee before the deadline of July 30 so I can send you your confirmation and you can go ahead and book your cabin with our discount.
On a side note, I am VERY MUCH looking forward to checking out your car!!!! And maybe there will be a sponsor there that will take notice!!
And remember everyone, we can't guarentee/hold the reservation after July 30 thats why we set up the deadline for registration. So please register and pay on the site so that I can send you a confirmation number so you can get the group discount!!!!
devoid 06-09-2005, 02:56 PM ^^ All good to hear, and I'll get in that registration fee.
In lookin' at the cabins, I guess I was just lookin' for who would be interested in splitting a cabin? There seems to be no point in taking a whole cabin to myself, rather than splitting a two bedroom cabin. I know accroding to the registration site that there are some others who are coming alone as well. I was hopin' to get a response from others who may be thinkin' along the same lines.
Or maybe I'm completely off? if you're coming alone, will they automatically double you up in a cabin? ie two individuals coming alone get setup in a cabin with 2 bedrooms?
BlueGrimRX8 06-09-2005, 03:41 PM No you are most definitely right in looking for someone to share the cabin with, because we are letting everyone do their own registration (due to losses last year) we aren't able to do the pairing. So I would suggest trying to get in a room with someone coming alone, or book the room for yourself and then offer the other bedroom up to those who have not registered and were looking for roomy too.
devoid 06-17-2005, 04:12 PM bump! Trip! Cough! (AHEM!) :)
BlueGrimRX8 06-22-2005, 10:56 AM Alright everyone. We are coming up on a month away from the registration deadline of July 31, 2005. Remember you must have filled out the Registration form, sent in the Registration fee AND filled out the WAIVER form on the website to be considered registered.
Also remember that you must be REGISTERED and PAID in order to book a cottage at the village under our group discount.
I will be sending out some reminder emails coming up in the next couple weeks to remind everyone who has registered and not paid.
Hopefully everyone will see this post since the board isn't sending out emails when updates are made.
ALWAZL8 07-05-2005, 11:25 PM Maybe you need to introduced to the fine spirits in the south.......Boone's Farm, Annie Green Springs, and the old stand by MD 20-20.......

LMAO..... that sounds reeeeaaaalllly gross!!!!
BlueGrimRX8 07-12-2005, 08:43 AM Wanted to clarify a couple things for everyone interested in the Brotherhood of the Dragon meet this year.
Cut-off for guaranteed availability of lodging at Fontana Village is 7-28-05 per our agreement with Fontana. After the 7-28 date, the space will be available to the public at large. It may still be available for late folks, but then again it may not.
Cut-off date to have a guarenteed spot at the Banquet is 8-31-05.
With all of that said, I wanted to be sure everyone knew all of the options. If you are still on the fence deciding whether to make it or not, we will accept registration up to 5 days before the event, but I wanted everyone to understand that waiting until the last minute did have some downfalls.
Please feel free to shoot me an email if there are any questions concerns, or special requests.
ZOOM ZOOM
Straight8 07-21-2005, 12:54 PM So...with the two imminent recalls about to come for our beloved 8's I'm wondering if we should turn this event into a who has the best loaner car contest. Just sitting here thinking how that 02 Chevy Malibu I always get stuck with will tear up the Dragon.
Feras 07-26-2005, 11:17 PM im rocking a chevy trailblazer totally crushes your malibu in torque ;)
BlueGrimRX8 07-27-2005, 12:05 PM So who has the RX8 trailer hitch to tow back the Trailblazer that rolled down the side of the mountain and the Malibu that crashed into oncoming traffic..... :D
Feras 07-27-2005, 02:23 PM actually im considering hitching a trailer to a truck and towing my 8 in
DaveT 07-27-2005, 09:54 PM I'm thinking that we should get one of the local Mazda dealers to set up at the event and perform the recalls at the site. Kinda kill 2 birds with one stone.....
BlueGrimRX8 07-28-2005, 02:26 PM Dave you are up there, can you hook that up!!!! :)
ALWAZL8 07-29-2005, 04:21 PM Now, THAT sounds like a good idea!
BlueGrimRX8 07-31-2005, 07:52 PM Alrighty, well the last day of the guarenteed group discount (for Fontana Village) was yesterday. I hope everyone was able to get their registration in.
Remember you can still register, we just can not guarentee that there will be space at the village. But also remember there are a lot of people looking for others to stay with so please post if you need a roommate, etc.
GETTING REALLY CLOSE!!!!!!
BlueGrimRX8 08-11-2005, 10:11 PM We are only 27 days out!!!!!!!! :D
SO HERE ARE THE NEWEST UPDATES:
I have made some MAJOR updates to the website. Please take a look at the Itinerary Section (http://www.mazdanow.com/dragon2005/itinerary.htm) of the website for the plans of the weekend. There is a lot of information there as well as ideas and things for people looking for additional activities.
Another MAJOR update is the Sponsors (http://www.mazdanow.com/dragon2005/sponsors.htm) area. Please visit all of our Sponsors (http://www.mazdanow.com/dragon2005/sponsors.htm) as they have been so kind to donate a lot of the Raffle Prizes (http://www.mazdanow.com/dragon2005/raffleprizes.htm)
As you can see above I have also posted a Raffle Prizes (http://www.mazdanow.com/dragon2005/raffleprizes.htm) list. This list is growing everyday so check back often.
One of the major events of the weekend besides the DRAGON (http://www.mazdanow.com/dragon/assets/mapdragonCHERloop.gif) is the SHOW AND SHINE CAR SHOW. Take a look at the ITINERARY (http://www.mazdanow.com/dragon2005/itinerary.htm) for a list of the categories and prizes. The show will consist of 6 categories. All registered and paid attendees will recieve a voting ballot and will vote on all of the RX-8's that wish to participate. Participation is free with your paid registration. The show will be held on Friday and we will be cooking burgers and socializing. Prizes will be given out during the banquet on Saturday.
I would like to get a tally of where everyone is staying. If you could please email me with your type of cabin and if you need roommates or if you already have some people staying with you let me know that too.
Please PM me or E-Mail (jcgrim@comcast.net) if you have any questions or comments.

BlueGrimRX8 08-23-2005, 10:22 AM **TIME FOR A REMINDER**
As of August 31, 2005 I have to give Fonatana a FINAL number for the banquet. This number will be based on the number of PAID registrations. If you have not paid by August 31, 2005 I can not guarentee you food at the banquet or a T-Shirt, I will try to get you a goody bag, time permitting. As of right now we have 37 Attendees (including guests) of which 11 have not paid for registration. Remember as always registration is not required but paying the registration fee gets you:
Discount for lodging at Fontana Village
Goody Bag (including free give aways)
T-Shirt
Raffle Ticket (Check out the sponsors and prizes at mazdanow.com)
Banquet Ticket
Registration into the Car show for prizes
I will be sending out an email to everyone who has not paid yet on August 25, 2005. Please feel free to PM me or E-mail me if there are any problems or questions.
Thanks guys.

mrthundercleese 08-27-2005, 08:16 PM Anyone up for rafting on saturday? I'm not getting in until friday night and my guest wants to go! :) Is the $40 the regular price or is it a special price. If its a special price, can we still get it for saturday :D .
edit: this will not interfere with my dragon drives :)
BlueGrimRX8 08-27-2005, 08:23 PM As of right now it is regular price. I know I plan to go on Thursday probably, but I know you are not the only one that will be coming in on Friday. I am going to try and work a special price if we have enough interest in it.

BlueGrimRX8 08-31-2005, 01:54 PM I know today is a most unfortunate day for everyone effected by the Hurricane. I would like everyone to know that the Brotherhood of the Dragon will be donating a very substantial sum of money to the relief effort of the American Red Cross. This donation will be made through my company and we will be MATCHING DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR the amount that the BOTD donates. During our trip next week we will be collecting as much as we can from all of the participants and that amount will be matched as well.
With all of that said, today is the last day for registration so if you are on the fence about coming, time to make the good decision and come!!! Check out the website link in my signature and we hope to see everyone there!!

jwitzer 09-07-2005, 06:18 PM Is anyone leaving Florida Thursday noonish?
I'm thinking of becoming a late registrant and heading up tomorrow to be there by late evening and I wouldn't mind teaming up with another 8 for the drive.
I'll be going I-75 to Atlanta so if you're on the way, let me know.
Razpewton 09-07-2005, 09:08 PM You guys have a good time up there! My flight leaves at 1:20 p.m. for NY. My motel is less than ½ mile from Niagara Falls, so I guess I'll take some pictures or sumthin'.
