View Full Version : Shinka Special Edition RX-8...Cute or Crap!
Gomez 11-11-2004, 08:23 PM I'm raising my colours and declaring I despise this interloper, Mazda has no right to waste the Earth's limited resources building something this tasteless!
Vote early,.....Maybe someone in Mazda Corporate will see we don't want flash.......Bugger it, we want dash!
You may select more than one of the above options...
Gomez.
Parker8 11-11-2004, 08:56 PM C'mon stick to the basics...............If I want a purple car I'd buy a Dodge
bureau13 11-11-2004, 09:54 PM I have no problem with the way it looks...but I had to vote for the "more performance" category anyway...no matter how good it looks, they're wasting their time if they're not improving performance.
So there :D
Gomez 11-11-2004, 10:36 PM There have been a few people vote to say they love the car, I'd be interested to know if it's just the black cherry that appeals, or the whole package. If you've voted to say you like the car, please post details on what it is that draws you to it.
And maybe also post the things you would like to leave at the dealership in lieu of standard RX-8 items... :)
Gomez.
ZoomZoomH 11-11-2004, 10:44 PM it ain't easy being bling' :D
RXE16T 11-12-2004, 12:41 AM Colour isn't too bad, it's just the interior which is abit ugly.....
Would have been niced to see a limited RX8 with more grunt or different bodywork, not just a new colour interior and exterior.
Gomez 11-12-2004, 02:06 PM U.S readers will be interested to hear that we in Australia are apparently getting a different Shinka. Allegedly, ours will be available in a grey or cherry black, and will have a two tone interior......
TODreamer 11-12-2004, 02:13 PM the colour is nasty... inside and out
truemagellen 11-18-2004, 02:14 AM I'm thinking that a hot girl would look good in it :p
Red Devil 11-19-2004, 10:49 AM I'm in the "We Wanted More Perfomance" category. Special editions with all flash and nothing else are worthless. The only special edition 8 I'm interested in is the one from Mazdaspeed.
Gomez 11-19-2004, 07:03 PM So, at the moment, only three out of ten posters have no issue with it.....Mazda, are you listening?
RXE16T 11-20-2004, 05:14 AM Mazda, are you listening?
They probably are...... but will they react?
Probably not.
Elara 11-20-2004, 12:26 PM guys, this is a special edition, like the miata special edition. We're gonna have to wait for the Mazdaspeed version before we get anything significant in the performance department...
I like the color; it's flashy but not too gaudy. I like the parchment seating; just tired of all-black interiors. The polished headrest inserts are nice against the parchment. It's really one of the features that identifies the car. I've had 8's following me and didn't realize it until I saw the headrest. Makes sense for that part to be shiny. I think the special edition is sharp.
snap-on 11-24-2004, 08:40 PM Go to the dealer and look at the black cherry Miata..It needs alot of light to show the rear color. It looks kinda...brown in bad light.
Give us 10hp and keep the fancy upgrades.
IMHO
Gomez 11-30-2004, 11:10 PM I hoped the whole shipment would go to Vegas. Unfortunately, 110 are going to make their way to Australia. I need another typhoon to wreak carnage on Japanese shipping....
truemagellen 12-01-2004, 12:13 AM I still think the Shinka would be nice for a hot girl...doesn't have to be for Mr. Mustache Gomez ;)
"Who wants a mustache ride?" I don't I don't
Gambit 12-01-2004, 08:58 AM the color is ok....don't like the interior, I think dark interiors look a lot better
promusic 02-01-2005, 05:14 PM  [B]I have voted with my checkbook. I put a downpayment on the 6M coming to the Indiana side of Louisville, KY. I am aware that the color is very dark, not at all like the internet pictures, and I don't care. I like the interior, I like the deep rich constantly changing color, I like the suspention upgrades, I like the loaded accessories, I like the uniqueness of having the only RX-8 like this in the area, and I like a car that causes some of you to not get one just like mine. The only minus maybe that it might not have the sunroof (moonroof) as advertised in all of Mazda's literature. Unless it is really sunny, you probably will not notice me as the "Shinka" when I pass you on the road (and I will pass you.) You probably will only see a black car go by. You will, however, be able to tell by the grin on my face. See you out there.
aggietiff28 02-01-2005, 05:29 PM Personally I love the color. I don't know that I am too hot on the interior, but I have not seen it in person. The only problem with it being considered a "special edition" is that they did not really add anything to it other than the colors and a few very minor details. I guess it all depends on how many they make for them to be able to call it "special edition."
Lock & Load 02-01-2005, 05:54 PM When you analize it the colour is common in other brands , the interior is  definetely a bimbo / hairdressers ride . :p
cheers

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I like it that there are people like you in other countries that buy these.....less to appear on the road here. And if I do happen to visit out your way, you won't pass me, I'll be hightailin' it the other way ;) .
Cheers,
Gomez.
truemagellen 02-01-2005, 08:57 PM hey Gomez I read your original post when it was sent to my email....muhahahaha

rx8cited 02-01-2005, 09:45 PM Gomez,
I'll vote after possibly seeing one tomorrow night at our local www.mscw.com meeting . So far, I'm unimpressed based on the Stinka, I mean err Shinka brochure I have. Where the heck did that name come from ........ sorry if I missed it.
