parallel parking. Factory wheels. Bound to happen with low-profile tires. Not too bad, and not all that visible (except to me). Anyway, suggestions? Is silver touch-up paint helpful? No intention of buying new wheels over this, just some helpful suggestions would be welcome. (Hey, coulda been a big door ding--so time to be philosophical. But still . . . . .) :(

You cld go to a paint shop and get them to fix it up - they'll just put putty n respray it. Will look as gd as new ;)

I had a bottle of silver Testors model paint. Matches perfectly.

I beg to differ!
Normally only happens with carelessness or due to reckless abandon. ;)
As for fixing the rim, most wheel shops can organise the repair, the only concern may be colour matching the damaged rim with the other 3.
Good excuse to repaint all 4 wheels a different colour though!

I've managed to avoid this thus far ...

A bottle of RX-8 Sunlight Silver touchup paint is what many of us have used successfully to fix our minor stock wheel boo boos.

Absolutely true. I've been ultra-careful for the 2-1/2 months I've had the car not to do this, but even Sheriff Deadeye Dick must have hit an innocent bystander once in a while. :p
I'll probably try the Sunlight Silver touch-up paint approach. Not enough scratching to spend $$$ for rim repair at this point--that may come later if I do it enough times that my touch-up paint runs out.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I know, I know. It's just so hard to keep getting over things. :( But I ordered my Sunlight Silver touch up paint today (dealer was out of stock), so when I get the paint, my wheel will look almost pristine again!

Sunlight Silver touch-up paint worked pretty well. Not perfect, and it took a couple of coats, but it's a significant and satisfying improvement. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I gouged the hell out of my left rear wheel taking a corner too tight. It's ugly but you have to look hard to see it. I'm too cheap to replace the wheel right now. Did the same thing with the right front wheel (though not nearly as bad) this week.
