View Full Version : Is there some way......

Is there some way to find out what has happened to a thread? Sometimes I'm following a thread, and later in the day suddenly it's gone. I don't know if it's been deleted, or combined with another thread, or moved. Is there any place the moderators announce what they've done with a thread?

If there isn't, I think they should have a sticky at the top of each forum that gives a list of any actions they've taken with a thread. It would save a lot of wasted time trying to find a thread that appears to have suddenly disappeared.

All the political threads were merged into the former "In the News" thread, which is now called the "Political Discussion" thread (the brilliance and wit in that title still floors me.) I'm guessing that's the one you're looking for, and you'd better hurry... the Dems all found it already. (Not that this implies that Red Staters are, like, dense or anything.) ;)

Actually, it's called "Political Discussion Thread" - I thought it up myself.

Ah, I misread. Aratinga is a she :) I saw the two words between the quotes - Thread was placed outside of the qoutes as if it wasn't part of the title.

And now a message from the Department of Redundancy Department:

It's the "Political Discussion Thread" thread.

Geez.....well, thanks for the tip. Over 285 pages in that thread now??? That's supposed to be "better" than several threads that are easier to read through?

Think I'll pass on following it anymore; at least I know where the Dems are now. It's kind of like putting a spoonful of peanutbutter on the roof of the mouth of your dog; he'll spend the rest of the day trying to lick it off so you know he won't get into any trouble doing anything else. ;)

I don't know I, Claudius, I heard it was called the "Political Discussion Thread"

Maybe you're right though

I see.....it will be interesting to note if the Dems "get it" and quit, or keep on posting away....hehehe

But anyways....I think it would be helpful if you had a place where people could check to see what's happened to threads they've been following. Maybe a Moderators sticky at the top of each forum to announce any actions they've taken?

Just a suggestion. :)

It should be a limited thread anyway for the next couple of years. Good thing it was named political discussion thread.

Of course lots of the things we like to discuss aren't related to politics, and would be miscategorized if improperly moved to that thread with its strict name. "In the News" was a lot more broad, and would have encompassed a lot more topics. Pity that.

So I guess if we start threads on these nonpolitical topics, they will be left alone and not moved to the "political thread?"

The war in Iraq
Abortion
Healthcare
Social Security
Tax issues
Terrorism
ACLU issues
Outsourcing
Guatanamo Bay

And all of those lead back to LIFE. Maybe instead of the RX-8 Club Forum.. we should just have a LIFE FORUM  :D
Wouldn't that be organized!

I can understand the reason for forbidding religious threads/discussion. After reading the flame wars that went on there, and all the closed threads because of attacks, it was obvious that those discussions were too inflammatory for this forum.

Our political threads/discussions however, were relatively civilized (and often quite interesting and educational imo) despite the strong feelings on both sides. A few (or more) people were not interested in reading them, thus the idea to move them to a seperate area. The lounge description says "Chit chat about anything. Keep it cool." However, it appears that a more accurate description should now read "chit chat about anything, but if it pertains to politics, it must be kept in one very long thread."

That just doesn't seem right to me, but y'all make the rules. You can suggest we go elsewhere to discuss those issues, but we have the RX8 in common, we like the strict conduct rules here, and already have a working relationship with each other. Why would you want to chase us off? I don't get it.

Wait wait... I know! We should have a "TABOO TOPICS" thread where everybody gets made a mod, and we can expound at will about religion and politics, and post pictures of brazilian wax jobs, enormous dildos, and women's elbows. We can then all ban ourselves and lose all privileges to other parts of the forum.

Damn, I'm gonna miss all the good stuff in "Boowana's RX-8 Quest" section. :(
