New headers ??

Hey I was searching the net and ran across these http://memory.sunpower-usa.com/detail/?id=292

anyone seen these before, I thought they looked the same as the one that are like $1200 but these are only $600. What's everyone's option on these?

Thanks,
jamie

I wish that photo was larger.... They say, "Our beautiful manifolds not only look good but also flow better then the competition. Every design has been dyno tested for maximum power through out the power band."

Can you get the dyno graphs?

It may be cheaper than the competitors, but as far as we know (except for Charles, hopefully his design works as planned) headers don't do much of anything. It's really just an expensive piece of metal. Racing Beat tested it to the way RotaryGod described, and still barely any gain. It seems as though Mazda has made extremely good intake and exhaust manifolds. Prove them wrong Charles.

I dont have any info on these things other than this website, just thought I'd let everyone know that these are half the price of the other headers. Just in case anyone was planning on buying some. As far as what they look like, I'm preety sure they look just like the other brand of headers out there.

yea from what the picture depicts it looks awfully like the re ameniya header.

I've read the knight sports version yielded 10 hp gain throughout the entire curve, why don't someone just copy the design?

Has anybody heard of any dyno figures for any set of headers for the rx 8?

Are you saying you'll get sued over it because it has been discussed here? Or outside companies will sue you...?

I think Knight Sports header's claims/dynoes of 10 hp across the rev range are optimistic to say the least. I haven't seen any header design so far giving hp in anything except the upper rev range. RE Amemiya claimed 10-12 hp, but when a person on this board actually got it and dynoed it they got 1 hp. Racing Beat despite their extensive backround and research on the Renesis has gotten only 3-4 hp, and even then it is in the upper rev range.

Charles,

Good luck to you. I really hope you can figure some of the intricicies of the Renesis out. Have you thought about contacting Racing Beat and working with them together on a unit. Perhaps you will both be able to come up with a great product together. The folks at RB are about the friendliest that I have ever met.

These headers don't look any different design wise than any others we have seen yet. I really doubt that they can perform better just off of their marketing alone.

Is anyone here purchased a set of headers? Just wanting to know what kind of real life gains were achived. Does anyone know what size pipe they use on the aftermarket headers compared to the stock ones?
