some idiots in my school are saying that the RX-8 is soft and it was made because the RX-7 was too fast, wtf are they thinking?
the RX7 had like 255hp with the twin turbo and the RX-8 is making 250hp without any turbos or superchargers, they say the RX8 sucks ass and they say that im protecting it cause im a huge mazda fan, these kids dont know anything about cars and they dont know anything about the Mazdaspeed RX-8 either

By the way the RX-7 was rated at 255hp and the RX-8 is at 250hp. Tell the idiots at your school to go to www.rx8forum.com and read up on the RX-8.

and there my friends we dont fight about it but their complete idiots when it comes to cars

just out of curiosity, what kind of cars do they drive?

well thir only 14-15 were in 9th grade 3 of them have cars one has a new mustang, one has a 95 626, and the other one a 2001 corola s, ill have a much better car then they will have in 2 years

I doubt I will ever understand how someone cannot master such a simple thing as the written and spoken language. It just confounds me that these people do not care that for the rest of their lives they will only be armed with a pea shooter to fight the war of life.

I used to encounter that problem as well. As soon as I mentioned Mazda, most people automatically call the car crap. I just no longer talk to people in my shcool about cars.:(

everywhere i go i'm surrounded by car-idiots... rarely do i read someone new (who's writing about cars) that i find respectable, in that they know more, or can form a more objective and insightful opinion than i... i'm not tooting my own horn, i'm saying there are bazillions more people out there who know nothing about cars, or think they do but don't, and are really concerned only with how they look in one.

A good friend of mine has also pointed out that there are many different pro's and con's.
So very few con's with the RX-8 or Rx-7 for that matter, but I am sure that if you looked hard enough you would find them.

it doesn't just happen at schools ... it happens at dealerships too. The one near me said "The RX-8 gets more torque than the RX-7", the RX-7 had "intake and exhaust ports that were the same hole", and that the "next RX-7 would be priced as a convertible between the RX-8 and the miata". It took all I had not to fall over laughing ... :confused:

One of the reasons I ended up ruling out the 8 was because I would just be annoyed it wasn't the 7 :)

Peak HP is a relatively useless number. It's the area under the curve that really matters. Having sequential turbos means stupid-power throughout the range instead of having 250 hp only at like 8500 rpm (I forget the 8's numbers offhand).

The way a STOCK FD pulls had me grinning for 2 hours (I test drove and almost bought a 93 R1)... I don't think you'll have the same feeling in the 8. But any fool can go fast in a straight line.

sorry if i offended you. I don't really have anything against the stang. my friend is about to buy a Roush. I just wanted to point out that people have different tastes and that saying that someone else's preference is wrong is just being ignorant.

The worst car nut IMHO is the car nut that doesnt open his/her eyes to see that there are other people with different opinions about what they want in a car.

I like imports :) however I do not care for old cars, no matter what brand they are meaning older than 1990. technology is our friend... something I would have to say many cars lack.

first, "old" is a relative thing, even with cars... i'd advise you to try and see older cars in the context in which they were created to truly appreciate them.
second, technology is only our friend if it works, and what it does is worth at least the cost of making it.
