View Full Version : Chicago area 1st annual meet 2005
rx8group 11-05-2004, 03:07 AM I have arranged through a local dealership in LaGrange, Il. Our 1st annual meeting for Rx8group.com. They have offered to provide a meeting room at the dealership. There will be food and a Mazda Tech available to answer questions and give tips on the Rx8. They have also offered to make parts available to us at a discount. Please let me know if you are interested in getting together for this meet.
It's about time we get a Rx8 group together and get our own meets going! There is no charge for the meet and this will be fun for all. Let me know when a good date is to schedule this event. I was thinking maybe April or May of 2005? Looking for others to help organize this event with me since I work weird hours. If you are interested let me know. PM me or send me an email at rx8admin@rx8group.com

BlueRenesis82 11-08-2004, 01:51 AM Well, depending on how far this is from home in Wisconsin, I would be interested to meet with some fellow 8 owners.....
rx8group 11-08-2004, 02:40 AM Matt
Yes it is going to be at the Autobarn. They have moved and are now on Lagrange road and 57th. This is where I bought mine from also. They were very open to the idea and have offered as much as they can. It will be open to all Mazda owners. The more the merrier. I have just started to organize the meet and will be posting stuff on my website. Feel free to visit and join www.rx8group.com. More information will be posted there and here as it becomes available.
I am trying to get a feel as to how many people will be interested in attending the event for planning. I am sure it will be well worth while for all. And a nice start for us Rx8 owners to get together and check out every ones mods and stuff.

Jajabor 11-08-2004, 11:12 PM If people are up for it, maybe we can schedule this during the East Meets West event. I think it'll be a good addition to the itinerary. Any thoughts?
rx8group 11-09-2004, 01:52 AM Excellent idea! That would be a great way for other owners to meet up. It is only about a 15 minute drive from Downtown Chicago too!
rx8group 11-09-2004, 03:46 AM Razpewton where are you?
Dr. Rx 11-10-2004, 01:42 PM I"m interested in going to the meeting.

294 South to I55 North get off at Lagrange road north. Go to 5700 South and watch for all the 8's.
Jajabor 11-18-2004, 04:20 AM Hey TiTaniumRX8, I'll be glad to be part of a BG (that's Buffalo Grove, Whosyourbaba)motorcade and head down there all together  . It's still a few months away, but let's touch base closer to the event and decide where we want to meet that morning. I met another owner (StewC625) at the Culverts on IL-83 just north of Lake Cook :D . I know there are other 8 owners in the area, maybe we should all try to coordinate. Do you know of any others that live here?

whosyourbaba 11-24-2004, 01:37 AM well i got my magnet today.
One question, is there a reason why autobarn was choosen and not another dealership? ALso would anyone know if they have a tech that specifically does rx-8 only and how is their service. i go to wilkens and its good service with one guy specific for rx-8's. however, it is kinda far for me. Just wondering how their service is.

The autobarn was chosen because this is where I purchased my vehicle. I also spent a lot of time shopping there and got to know them a bit. When I kicked around the idea of having a meet they offered to help out.
The service at the Autobarn for me has been very satisfactory. I have found that the mechanics they have are very well trained and knowledgable about the Rx8.
No one is asking you to use the Autobarn for service. It is just a meeting place since they offered the room and the food. More for information and fun. Feel free to invite your mechanic from Wilkens if you want.
Perhaps in the future we can schedule something at Wilkens? Join the Rx8group.com site and lets get something started. We are here for everyone who shares the evolution.

I would like to move my service to a closer place, like autobarn, i wanted some input on how their service is. but thanks for the info on the service. i will try it out the next time.

That is where i bought my 8.. my cuz is real good friends with tom wilkins... so he took care of me... a real first class place there!
Robert
rx8group 12-06-2004, 03:35 AM Yes they are 1st class! Treated me well even though they overcharged me on my original loan, which is now paid off. They issued me a check right away for the mistake. The Finance officer is no longer there either.
They have moved to a new location on La Grange Rd. But still great service.
I went there 3 times before buying my 8 and also visited other Mazda dealers.
I would certainly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an 8.

dazygirl415 12-18-2004, 01:35 AM I'm an 8 owner from TX and I'm visiting family here in the Chicago burbs and I can't wait to see some 8's on the road. It's exciting to see them back home but even more so when you're away. Like a immediate bond we all share. Keep 'em comin baby!!!!!
Jajabor 12-21-2004, 03:37 AM So dazygirl, are you in Chicago right now? If the weather gods permit, maybe some of us from here can meet up sometime before you leave. And also if there isn't any snow on the roads we could bring our 8s out for a short cruise too. Anybody else keen on getting together?
rx8group 12-21-2004, 04:32 AM Count me in! Haven't driven it in like three weeks!
