Perhaps someone can help me on this one as I'm fairly technically challenged!

Does the "fly by wire" throttle affect break wear?

It's my understanding that this type of throttle means that it doesn't act as a brake like a normal one. Hence more wear?

Didn't think it was anything to do with brake wear !

As far as I understand it just means that instead of a physical link between the loud-pedal and the engine throttle it is electronic.
I.e. a sensor on the throttle pedal tells the engine how much throttle to apply. - but all done by a non physical link - i.e. electrical.

I am quite willing to be proved wrong though....

Are you talking about engin breaking?

Dont see why it'd work any different in the rx8. And I know many that recoment pure brake breaking as it sbetter to stress/wear the pads/disks rather than transmission/engine.

If we are talking about engne braking - my experience of rotary engines is that there is alot less engine braking than conventional cars.
When I first got my RX7 it took a bit of getting used to that the car would lose speed very slowly on the overrun !

That said I have read that the Renesis does have a pronounced engine braking feel to it , much more so than traditional rotaries. Something to do with emissions minded fuel management...
