There have already been several delays, the initial first delivery date was mid February. The latest I am hearing now is probably June. My advise to you is to disregard everything that the dealer will tell you about delivery dates; as far as I can tell, Mazda Canada themselves have nothing concrete. Moboroshi 05-07-2003, 03:19 PM I see, well aside from the date, is there anything else that may set the car back, like the machanics or electrics, the RX-7 series had several issues with them. I have pondered getting one for a while and then I was going to build some custom parts for it through the many different companies that I work for. Any ideas. -B Cole RotorBoy 05-07-2003, 04:28 PM Welcome to the forum Moboroshi! Off the subject, but Calgary is an awesome city. My best friend from college is a prof. at Univ. of Calgary. Oh yeah.. just go for it and get the car!! StealthTL 05-07-2003, 05:07 PM Fellow Albertan here! What kind of parts do you specialize in? The pre-production cars did have a problem with the 'mini-throttles' in the intake ports not opening, but I believe it was mostly a chip/software problem, now fixed. Would be interested in any parts you can fab up, keep us posted! S. Moboroshi 05-08-2003, 03:47 PM At this moment I am working on a set of titanium rings for my g/f's cousins, but when I am finished I have to do a custom gear shifter for a sylvia. Then I was thinking of doing some shifters for the RX-7/8's... Just a thought -B Cole babylou 05-08-2003, 06:07 PM Yes Cal...Gary is a nice city. Moboroshi, Titanium rings? What are you talking abooot? I assume you are talking about jewelry, eh? AFAIK there are no significant problems with the RX-8. Go on...put your hard earned northern pesos down. Ya hoser. What can I say. I'm feeling kinda goofy. Okay, I'm finished mocking y'all.;) wakeech 05-08-2003, 06:24 PM Originally posted by babylou northern pesos *scoff* who's currency is currently taking a nose-dive against the CDN $ (<-there's a hint ;)), SA Rand, UK Pound, Euro (big time), Japanese Yen, and AUS $ ?? hmmm?? whose?? i forget... somewhere close, but i can't put my finger on it... :p blkrx8 05-08-2003, 07:43 PM Got a new update from Mazda, looking at mid-July on Delivery of pre-sold units. Units that are pre-sold will be built and delivered first. blkrx8 05-08-2003, 08:11 PM To: All Mazda Dealers Attn: Dealer Principal/General Manager The Mazda RX-8 IS UP AND ROLLING! The most revolutionary sports car ever will be on its way to your dealership soon. To better explain the production and launch timing and processes, below is a calendar of key launch milestones. Also attached is a listing of some of the major marketing launch activities for the RX-8. Jan. 7: Production RX-8 was shown for first time at the Detroit Auto Show, pricing announced. Jan. 8: Pre-sell website opened for customer orders. Japan receives over 5,000 pre-orders, US receives over 1,200 pre-orders, US dealers report first three months of supply sold out. Jan. 9-16: Global Long-Lead Media Preview allows 350+ journalists to drive RX-8 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Feb. 17: Mass production, job 1 (MP1), began on schedule. Mar-Apr.: Media reviews appear in enthusiast publications and websites. Reviews strongly positive about car and engine. Apr. 9: Public debut of RX-8 in Japan. May 12: Mass production, job 2 (MP2), begins. MP2 cars are full-production, US-specification cars, incorporating lessons learned on MP1 (Japan market) cars. June-July: US pre-sell customers receive six status e-mails directly from Mazda: when their car is placed in the build-stream, when a VIN is assigned, when car is built, when car is shipped, when car arrives in US and when car arrives at assigned dealership. Mid Jul: Pre-sell RX-8s arrive at dealers. Mid-end-Jul.: Allocated production RX-8s arrive at dealers. As you can see, this extensive time-table is designed to ensure a strong and successful rollout of RX-8. I know you are anxious to get this car and many have customers who also can’t wait. The RX-8 is Mazda’s worldwide flagship, and it WILL be delivered and launched perfectly. RX-8 represents everything that zoom-zoom has been promising, and I’m confident it will put us back where we should be: at the top of consumers’ minds. babylou 05-08-2003, 10:26 PM Originally posted by wakeech *scoff* who's currency is currently taking a nose-dive against the CDN $ (<-there's a hint ;)), SA Rand, UK Pound, Euro (big time), Japanese Yen, and AUS $ ?? hmmm?? whose?? i forget... somewhere close, but i can't put my finger on it... :p I knew that my "northern peso" comment would get a response from our resident economics weenie:D By the way I learned the "northern peso" bit from one of my former Canadian employees. |
