This cover should ship by December 15th and will be very nice quality, available in black carbon fiber it will wrap around the back and front of the POD for a factory look...

The final price including shipping and handling to anywhere in the continental United States is U$159.99... Need to sell at least 20, so let me know...

otrovago: No not at this time, the picture shown is of one that Mazda NA has on one of their cars... The one I am having made will actually be of much better quality and finish... It will cover the complete POD all the way to the edges and tucked into the dash recess as well as wrap around the front so that it will look factory...

Ok, in regards to the above car; I saw that one along with my fabricator at SEMA and we will be producing one much nicer and of better quality... I already paid for the molds and tooling as it is almost completed and should have the first one for my final approval by the 15th... I am very picky about quality and overall design balance and this cover will show that; those who know my car know I would not put it on if it was not top quality and nice and clean...

You guys/gals are going to be very happy with it, I am very exited about it...:) Also coming soon are mirror covers in CF, these will actually replace the stock ones as they are much simpler in design...

I have the blk/red interior color scheme also. I installed black carbon fiber door sills from Evo-R and they look really good against the blk/red. I'll post a pic later when I get home, so you can see. I'm going to get the pod cover, and the entire mazdaspeed kit for the interior to match.

I'd recommend not to get the MS CF kit. Too much money for fake CF, plus it wouldn't match very well.

Nemesis8: Yes, the MS is CF look (If you have seen the interior of the MPV, it looks just like the dash...) Real black CF is very consistant so just about any CF product from a good fabricator will match very nicely...

For my car I just wanted to have a splash of CF in the interior to go with the Mazdaspeed CF B-Pillar garnishes...

By the way the CF PODs are coming along very nicely and we were able to make the CF go right up against the guages when it wraps around the front edge of the POD with a one piece mold...:)

Oh and the MS kit just replaces the center console, switch plates and the door handle plates... After I get done with mirror covers, I may have the door handle plates fabricated as well, that would probably be in January...

I'm going to wait and see what you can create. I would be willing to wait for your CF because it will match the Dash Pod cover you are currently pursuing. Thanks for the advice and comments. Now we just need to get more people on board with us. :D

Hey thanks, I really would have bought it without knowing that. I did know that the other mazdas have the fake stuff but just didn't put 2+2 together. Now I need to find someone to make the door bezels, middle console trim, and the window switch panels. Damn that sucks!

Here is a picture of the almost completed mold and plug; the first actual part will be ready Fridayand I will have it on Monday... Once I recieve it I will make sure it fits well and make any required adjustments as well as engineer the atachment system...

I will post more pictures and then plave the order for the first 10, that should take about a week; when they arrive I will prep all of them pack them and ship them off; my goal is to ship them on the 15th of December...

Ok Carlos, this group buy was approved, and we have been very patient, although you need to understand that it's been 2 months since you started this. The carbon fiber hood I purchased through a group buy didn't take this long. You said above that if the mold was all good, then you were expecting 12 to be on their way, so what's the deal?

Yes, since I was third after Carlos and Brian on the list, and not to mention first with funds, we need some updates. I have been very patient also.....

well he had a pic of the mold.........but it takes 12-18 hours for resin to cure so how could he have 12 in 7 days with only 1 mold??........maybe thats whats taking so long.

Cortc has a little over $1400 of cold hard cash and he hasn't even put up one picture to show us. Am I the only one feeling he has ran off with our money? He haven't posted since he told us he was going to put some pictures up a couple weeks ago. I gave up on this already last week. It will be a miracle if I will ever see this group buy complete. Even if cortc shows up and lives up to his promise, I will still be disappointed with this buying experience. This is not how to treat people in return.

Now for those who are interested the hard work has paid off and here is a pick of the first prototype part and it is beautiful, the following pictures do not do it justice...:) I just got it today and did a test fit and took some pictures, it is perfect so I just sent an e-mail to the fabricator and told him to do the first production run...:) This one has not been finished, the production pieces will have the edges sanded and painted than polished... I will be designing the attachment system over the next few days and buying the supplies and shipping materials so that I can send them out ASAP...

It will be worth the wait, and guys/gals have a little faith...;)

A couple more points, on the second picture the cover is not sitting completely flush as it needs to be attached via some double sided 3M adhesive film (In the photo it is just resting on the dash...); when the final part is fitted it will fit into the grove around the POD, sit flush and look OEM...:)

In addition you may notice that the final mold has less of a wrap than the pre-production mold, this is so that we could get the very high quality straight weave you see in the pictures and have the front wrap around the dash pod look really good. There are alot of manufacturing considerations to account for and you have to design a part you can get out of the mold without damaging the part or the mold...

Once again sorry for the delay (Been very busy with my life and job...), but this is a part you will be looking at constantly and up-close so we needed to get it right and have it look OEM/show quality...:D

Once I finish up with this project I may do the hood, not sure will have to see; this stuff takes lots of time and I am very busy these days...

Also an update, the first production part was produced today and has been sanded and detailed... I will have it on Friday, will mount it with the 3M double tape, take pictures of the install for some instructions on installing it and will post some nice pictures out in the sun...:)

Friday they will begin producing the first production batch of twelve, as soon as they arrive I will prep them, install the 3M backing, pack with instructions and prep for shipping (I still have to go out and get all the shipping supplies)... Once that is complete they will all go out in the mail...:)

Well, I've been in so many different fields... Title Insurance, eccommerce work, stripping, I'm a barber, bartender, I've managed bars/rest. um there a bunch of other things I've done but those are the main things that I'm good at.

Update: I have the first full production CF Dash POD on it's way for a final photo shoot and install into my RX8... They are making them now one a day and are at number 4, when the first twleve are ready they are all coming to me in bulk and then out to all of you very patient ones...:)

Now an update, I recieved the first production part and will post some pictures; they are up to 5 parts completed and will also run one for me in black/red cf-kevlar to get a feel for how they look in color (Will post pics of that as soon as I get it)... The final parts are coming out beautifully and will be well worth the wait and believe me I am looking foward to all of you recieving your parts and getting them installed...:)

This weekend I will engineer the attachment system and develop some installation instructions as well as aquire all of the shipping materials...

If no one would be willing to do it I would understand because I don't see most people wanted to trick their 8 out with all carbon fiber inside. How hard is it to work with this material?

It can be a pain; working with CF that is, I will be doing the plastic trim around the door handles and the outside mirror covers next... I like the piano black trim so I do not have any plans to do those... Their are a few companies that produce the stick on CF dash kits for the RX8...

Yes, all of the first 12 are completed just spoke to the guys; so they ship out tomorrow to me and I should have them Friday/Saturday... I wil box them and they should all ship out early next week then an average of three days to delivery via US Postal Service Priority...

Just tracked the UPS shipment and they are scheduled to be delivered on the 28th... I will have the boxes ready this weekend and the labels, so all I have to do is inspect, prep, box and off they go... I should be able to get them out on Wednesday the 2nd of March...:)

This is the first time I've done business with cortc. What is his rep? He didn't jack our money did he? Has anyone bought from him before?

Omicron said Cortc was legit, and so did someone else, that's not what I'm aggravated about, I'm more disappointed in the build up and then let me downs of when the cover was going to ship. He said last week, then there hasn't been an update since. I do appreciate people such as Carlos who have taken on this task, although if your going take this responsibility on, then that person is also taking the responsibility of keeping everyone updated. He has kept up pretty updated considering the length of time this has gone on, although I do not like being told that the thing was going to ship a couple of times and then no update.

Ok, guys/gals I appoligize for the delay; I had 2 deaths in the family a few weeks ago and have been dealing with it since... The first twelve pods showed up and four of them were not up to my standards so they are shipping me four replacements... I will post pictures of the twelve tonight and am going to box up the ones that paid first so the wife can ship them Wednesday/Thursday... Once I ship the commits I will most probably take a short sebatical from this so I will not be taking any orders or doing any other group buys for a while... For all of those who have been patient, thank you; I think you will be happy when you get your POD...

I saw the pod cover installed on his car and let me tell you it looks AWESOME. It covers the stock dash pod perfectly. There are no gaps or overlaps where the pod cover meets both the dash or where it comes up to the front edge of the dash pod. I know that everyone will be very happy once they see it in person. I can't wait to get mine. Lucky for me, I get to pick it up :)

Not to highjack your thread Carlos but I'm waiting on an answer for more carbon pieces from a company I contacted. I'm gonna see if we can get the door handle bezels done and maybe some other interior pieces that'll match the pod cover.

I was going to ask you if they could be made Carlos, but I can see that this has been a major burden for you.

Little fustrated with the updates but what can you expect when the person conducting this has a family and other obligations to attend to.

I'm trying to find a company that will do the whole dash, but only the pieces that are pvc plastic like the pod, not the vinyl pieces on the car.

Well nothing is a definate but I'm waiting for a company to get back to me on it.

The parts would include the inner door handle bezels unless you know where to get them now cause I'll jump on that group buy in a second.

The other parts are all of the pvc black plastic located above the radio and around the navi screen, the pvc plastic around the nav controls and shift knob, and the pieces that are at the bottom portion of the inside driver and passanger doors, and maybe the rest of the middle console that continues into the back of the car.


Like I said though it's alot and I'll be trying my best to get something rolling, if this company doesn't work out then I will contact my sponsership and see if they can point me in the right direction, I'm willing to donate all of my parts, assuming I get them back, to whomever can complete the task.

Well custom job...I don't know anything more...Mine interior is black/red and i have some parts cf but all the tube i don't know how it would look like..and i already have painted the lighter cover black and i have a chromed rx-8 badge on it and looks tight...If i go for cf tube i must rip the custom dvd screen box in the top of dash and the rx-8 badge un the lighter cover...

But this 8 i must say looks unique at least!!

Personally, I am certain (since we've seen the photos) that we will get our items - it's just a matter of time. I also am sorry for the personal problems that Carlos has had, and appreciate the time and effort that was required to produce the high quailty items that were pictured.

If these could be packed up and shipped out - it would be one less thing for Carlos to worry and stress about - we would all go away happy with our very limited edition Carbon Fiber Dash Pods.

It's funny that the saying "money talks" is so true. See how responsive he was when trying to collect the money and how the responsiveness slowed down after he had the money.

Now I know from running a business, that if he was still waiting on our funds in order to ship the pods, that he sure as hell would be posting up here and P/Ming all of us for the money.

Alright, I haven't spoken out since the last time I voiced my opinion on this hold up. Carlos has proven that he HAS the pods, but that is about as far as he has done in terms of updating on the status. Now I understand he is a busy man and he had a family vacation as well as a family crisis to take care of right after. That was a fairly long time ago. In between all of that he managed to log onto the forum many times (although you can't check when he is online anymore for some odd reason), but not update us on the status of our pods. Heck, he even had enough time to go to a car meet! If you read Carlos's mods list, you can see he has put down "CF dash POD", but he doesn't bother sending the rest of the pods to us (the ones that have paid). Is he doing this as a quality check? Or is he having some form of postpartum depression with these carbon fiber pieces? Does anyone else feel as frustrated and upset as me, or am I crazy? All I can say right now with future group buys is have a better, more reliable system of money and product transaction. Because frankly, this particular group buy is not only going down the drain. It already made it's way to the treatment plant.

I don't know about you guys, but I am willing to chip in some money for food and gas to a fellow forum member that lives near Carlos to ship the pieces out. It is absolutely rediculous that I have to even consider going to this stage.
