About 4 weeks ago my wife and I moved into the new house we've been building since we moved to Houston a year ago. In fact the house is not yet finished (although 2 months late) but we had to move in anyway because the place we had been leasing was sold.
Life became more hectic as the moving company we used had a guy that apparently could only write one word in English so all our 180 boxes of small stuff were placed in the kitchen (and overflowed to the garage). We have only just finished unpacking the major areas and I still have to sort out the library and media room.
But the best reason is that last week the whole reason of getting a four-seat RX-8 (instead of my dream car - the Honda S2000) came to fruition when my wife gave birth to a baby girl called Athena. Life will never be the same and it's wonderful.

Congratulations pelucidor! Having two little girls of my own, (a three year old and a nine month old), I can relate to your feelings and your reasons for getting the RX-8!

Congrats. By the way, in my experience the best baby seats are made by Britax. It is money well spent. Cheers.

Congratulations to you and your wife on that little miracle. Just be thankful that mazda made a sports car that can suit your baby hauling needs and be sporty at the same time.:)

Thanks for all the congrats everyone. We were looking for an unusual name that was also easy to spell and pronounce- I went through Greek, Roman, Norse, Celtic, Indian etc mythologies and also old English and French names before we settled on Athena (which was the name we had picked out 2 years ago, then had 2nd thoughts). We still haven't agreed on a boy's name so lucky she was a girl.
Having fiddled with the back seats and doors of the RX-8 at the Rev-It-Up in Houston I am pretty confident it will be easier to get the baby in and out than it is for my IS300, but the passenger seat will have to be moved forwards a fair bit. Most of the time (95%) the baby will ride in my wife's Acura MDX as the RX-8 is my daily driver for work (and my wife has 'retired' from the rat race to look after Athena). The initial infant seat is a Graco Snugride (5-point harness, LATCH, level meter, dual canopy etc - pretty technical) with a extra car-base for the 2nd car, and when the baby hits 20lbs we will get the Britax Marathon or Roundabout ($250 - ouch!).
Anyone want to see photos of the new house (dying to post them:D)?

We've used Britax Roundabout for 4 years now, for 2 kids in 2 different cars, and its the most solid and robust seat for rear or forward mounting I've come across. Worth every penny IMO - you are wise not to compromise here. I don't have experience of latch anchors though, nor the Marathon.
