View Full Version : is RX8FORUM.com the Best RX8 site? Efini 8 05-06-2003, 01:39 AM what do you guys think, I enjoy this site a lot, but maybe some more features can be implemented Mak 05-06-2003, 03:01 AM Of course this is the best RX-8 Forum :D Would you expect anything else? Well honestly I think this forum is great especially for a car that hasn't even come out yet. tribal azn2 05-06-2003, 03:08 AM this is like the only rx8 site lol. gord boyd 05-06-2003, 05:27 AM I think those in charge of this site might want to know if anyone at Mazda reads us. Someone on the selling over retail thread has his Dad working at Mazda Corp. I may attempt the question. The next step up for rx8forum would be to have input from these guys (but is this too much the Dell model???). Elara 05-06-2003, 08:28 AM Originally posted by Efini 8 what do you guys think, I enjoy this site a lot, but maybe some more features can be implemented This should have just been posted in the Suggestions forum. And as for it being the best RX-8 site out there- it's got a lot more information on it than any other I can think of (there aren't a lot) and it's growing every day. So it's at least the biggest, and "best" is very subjective. VWjet 05-06-2003, 08:51 AM What other sites are there??? wakeech 05-06-2003, 10:50 AM there are other places that have information, but this is the hub, the nexus... this is easily the best RX-8 site around. yeah, Efini 8 if you have ideas tell us in the suggestions forum: this place has been here FROM THE BEGINNING, and i hope it'll be around for a good long while yet. rotarynews.com 05-06-2003, 01:02 PM There is a ton of wrong info, arguments and noise on this site... by product of being a fourm. For raw info, correct, and percise, without the S/N ratio of a forum, try RotaryNews.com (http://rotarynews.com) We aren't trying to compete with the forum, but strive to be the best and most accurate site around. And when we post rumors, or gossip, it is 99.99% of the time true. We also keep stuff on topic in out comments (which is my pet peve of this forum) JTek_55 05-06-2003, 02:43 PM Originally posted by rotarynews.com There is a ton of wrong info, arguments and noise on this site... by product of being a fourm. And when we post rumors, or gossip, it is 99.99% of the time true. We also keep stuff on topic in out comments (which is my pet peve of this forum) I would have put it another way. These statements do make Rotary News seem a little arrogant, if not overly critical. I know you outline that wrong info is "by product of being a forum", but that also means that it in some cases will tend to have more information, sooner, that does turn out to be fact because there isn't a wait to post information until it's 99.99% true. Part of the community of any forum is being able to discuss topics with both facts and opinions, and even a little BS from time to time. That's what makes it fun and interesting. If I were to make a comparison I would classify Rotary News as where you would go for media and industry news, along with some technical info....kinda like a news stand magazine, while RX-8 Fourm / Club is like going to a pub after work with a bunch of your fellow car enthusiasts to share your thoughts, experiences, and info....and yes, even a little BS too. There will definitely be some overlap though, especially considering the knowledge, experience, and sources of some of the people on this site. :D As for sometimes getting off topic, that tends to happen in normal conversation, so it's going to happen on a fourm too. Sometimes a new topic will be started, sometimes a few off-topic posts will get posted before going back on topic, but it's not that big of a deal really. Don't be so harsh....the sites compliment each other. ;) Sputnik 05-06-2003, 05:18 PM Originally posted by gord boyd I think those in charge of this site might want to know if anyone at Mazda reads us... Mainly the S/N ratio, and ability for any and all threads to get hijacked. Don't want to tell anyone how to do their jobs but some of the best forums I've been on have also had forum-nazi's whack in the arse people for going off topic. And as for new breaking first, a by-product of being the site that rotarynews is, sometimes we simply cannot report on something because of NDA's or promises made to people that we'd keep our mouths shut. But who were the first rotorheads that brought you an opinion of the RX-8? Who covers the autoshows in depth, with top-brass interviews? Who has been the site that covered the development of the RX-8 even before the RX-Evolv was unveiled? But as for the metrics of who is better or not... It is like comparing your favorite pub to your favorite news channel. Both are good for what they offer.. offereing different things. And as for my arrogant shameless self promotion... so what?! :p babylou 05-06-2003, 05:48 PM Originally posted by rotarynews.com But as for the metrics of who is better or not... It is like comparing your favorite pub to your favorite news channel. Both are good for what they offer.. offereing different things. I prefer pubs. Chicks hang there. I even picked up a Houston news anchor at a pub. Nope, not gonna tell:) I have yet to have a brew at a news channel.:p Toadman 05-06-2003, 06:44 PM Dan, you truly are shame-less. At least we have EAST MOON our first owner/member. :D Rotarynews is akin to a newspaper and read daily. This and other rotary forums are more for real-time banter and enthusiast feedback/chat. They compliment each other and it sure beats having 10-15 competing rotary forums like Ford/GM/Chrysler. Believe me, Dan bites his tongue on all the info he gets and thus has earned the trust of Mazda and has been given much access to R&D. The info he has on upcoming product would curl your toes. ;) khoney 05-06-2003, 07:39 PM Originally posted by Sputnik Those in charge of this site already know the answer to that question. ---jps Well if that's the case, HEY MAZDA!!! Can I have my 6-disc changer in lieu of a pre-order gift? After all, I was expecting the changer, not the gift! DTECH-RX 05-06-2003, 08:30 PM Hey, it's ok to be a little arrogant when you've got the goods to back it up, just don't let it go to your head. ;) Actually, a lot of us do recognize the great information source Rotary News is and has been for some time (any word on that Mazdaspeed supercharger kit for the RX-8 yet??? ;) :D ), we just like to come here and hang out with fellow rotor heads and shoot the breeze too! I must say that the RX-8 fourm has been one of the best car forums I've been on with respect to the people and the content. Most of you guys and gals are really cool individuals which are great to talk to and "hang out" with. Not only have I learned a lot on this forum, having admired the rotary from afar for a number of years, I hope I've also contributed to it becoming even better in some small way (content, discussions, and donations :D ). Hats off to the admins and my fellow members! Remeber...it is not only the destination which is important, but the journey and the people you meet along the way as well. :) Let the rotary journey continue! :D zoom44 05-07-2003, 04:01 PM actually dan and bern have both been very good members of this forum for awhile. i'm glad they are here to correct us when we are wrong and give us info when they get it. i thank you both for your contributions. i want to point out though that while we may have had some wrong information on this site at times we with help from boowanna, dan, bern, others we cant name and Mazda (once in awhile) we have managed to catch most of it. if dan thinks there is some glaringly wrong info (and i'm not talking about the tertiary ports;) ) on here currently please correct us. in our long on going quest for more info about the car we may have been misinformed along the way but i doubt anyone here would mind knowing that something they thought was right was not. oh and dan if you want to talk about striving to be "percise" you should at least spell it correctly:p edit: staying on topic for dan- hell yeah this is the best RX-8 forum around. Oldest and Best.:D I wouldn't be here if it wasn't. Styjan 05-07-2003, 04:27 PM Rotarynews.com is a great site. I've been following it since the RX-01 days. They were definitely the site to go to when rumors of a new Rotary vehicle surfaced after the RX-01 was dumped and a new car was rumored before the RX-evolv was shown. Great work Dan! The RX-8 forum is by far the best forum site I have visited. What a bonus that the Topic is the RX-8 being that I'm such a rotary freak! I think there is a great balance between the freedom the mods give the members and the good behavior of most of the members exhibit. rotarynews.com for the real news rx8club.com for the good chat and new content Everyone rejoice! Rx8Mango 05-07-2003, 04:37 PM I visited a whole bunch of car forums, and this is one of the best I've been to for information and friendliness. In other words, this place rox:D AND Go Canucks!!!, damn u got hoorassed 6-2 on Monday, they will shut out the Wild Today! Jason 05-07-2003, 05:13 PM As one of the owners of the site I would like to thanks those that make this site one of the best. We have plans for some nice upgrades like a photo gallery and RX-8 registry. Thanks for the support. Jason eccles 05-07-2003, 07:18 PM Personally, I think www.rx8club.com is better. ;) rx8registry.com 05-30-2003, 09:02 PM Originally posted by Jason As one of the owners of the site I would like to thanks those that make this site one of the best. Fine tunred with new features being added regularly. Its in full swing now. The site is paid for 3 years in advance so its going to stay around. A link to or some way of directing people to it would work just as well. We'll put a button linking to the forum as well :D http://rx8registry.com/ http://rx8owner.com/ rx8registry.com 05-30-2003, 09:12 PM Speaking of RX-8 sites... ...can we get some suggestions on improving http://rx8owner.com. Last thing added was the RX8 links page. P.S. rotarynews.com rocks. this forum works pretty good too :) Lock & Load 05-31-2003, 01:13 AM Yep its my 1st forum of any sort but its got great info a good bunch of guys and one or two ladies and it keeps me from going down the local or the casino ,so its saving me money.ha ha ha Farsyde 05-31-2003, 02:35 PM Originally posted by khoney Well if that's the case, HEY MAZDA!!! When I fell in love with the RX-8 I was looking for info and happened on this site. Glad I did, I'll be here for awhile!! Toadman 06-03-2003, 02:50 AM Any old-skool rotary owners feeling like we're ancient, welcoming the rotary n00bs into the fold? :D Welcome and give thanks to Jason and Ryan (Jason and BOOSTD7) for putting up with our crap and making room for the RX-8 forum.
