So my heater at my house hasnt been working for 2 days and i'm trying to figure this shit out. MY house is freeeezing and my moms telling me to call up a guy from PSE&G and i'm telling her its not broken!!! its just soemthing stupid and i couldnt find it. So after comming back from class my friends here playing madden and my friends like damn why the hells your house so damn cold, i explain to him the situation and hes like "No shit your Gas burner is off, your not suppose to touch that switch". I'm such an idiot. But still, why would they ever put that red switch RIGHT by the stairs? its like a light switch!! they should put that in the basement with a box around or something

That made me laugh...thanks!!!!!!! :D The red switch is supposed to be located where you can get to it easily. When my heater caught on fire I turned off the gas (with the red switch) and it slowed the fire down. The fire was in the heater. It was almost through the roof. The fireman said that turning off the gas saved the fire from getting out of control before they got there. If the switch was upstairs with the heater I never could have made it up there. TOOO much smoke in the house. All is well now that was years ago.
