I don't know about you, but I am starting to get tired of waiting for my RX-8. I learned yesterday from a reliable source that I am probably looking at mid-July for delivery, even thought like a lot of you, I was in the first Internet order group.

If I remember correctly, the order date was somewhere around January 10th. This means the wait will be six months or more. When you add the six months plus the time since the RX Evolv was shown, it seems like a damn life time!!!

I just hope for Mazda's sake that they don't loose a lot of the pre-orders due to the extraordinary length of the wait. Oh well...

Ditto that ... but the longer they push it away the more money I have saved as a safety net for other things :)

I want to attend a driving school this year too, so that will be one of my top priorities.

Amen to that....... if I dont get mine by mid June, I think I'll go mad.. Probably buy me another car if that's the case... doubt it... hehee

How long was the wait for people who pre-ordered 350z and stuff?

I think that Boowana is right; if this continues to drag on much longer there will be some people that will give up on the 8 and move on. While Herc is also correct about saving more money due to the additional delays; this waiting is killing me, especially with the oncoming good weather.

I guess that we will all just have to wait it out.

Tribal - ever heard the saying "Patience is a virtue"? C'mon - either you want the car or you don't. If you're considering buying a different car because of a 4-week delay, you don't really want an RX-8. I KNOW this is the car for me, and I'm willing to wait for it.

Besides, I think y'all are whining just because you think Mazda is monitoring this forum, and that somehow it'll make a difference. Well, it won't. Production won't go any faster than production can go. Deal with it, or enjoy your alternate vehicle, but complaining on this forum is a huge waste of bandwidth (well maybe a tiny waste of bandwidth). :)

I read some where that the delay from mid june to mid july was suppose to be because there were some problems. Anyone know what those problems were? The only thing i have a problem wit this delay is 2nd allocation people are getting the car at the same time the 1st allocation is. It seems like only the first allocation is being pushed back while the other allocations are at the same time that they were told upon preordering

I agree that this wait has been verrrry long. I still have my 2001 issue of Road&Track that shows the new 350Z prototype and the red RX8 prototype on the same cover. Well, the 350Z has been out for eight months now, and yet the RX8 is still months away. It is possible the 350Z convertible will be out before the 8!

At least you guys in the States have been able to actually ORDER your cars specifically (we here in Canada have no real guarantee that Mazda Canada has listened to the dealers at all regarding what we want... and we had no pre-order program). Additionally, Mazda Canada is still claiming (to its dealers, no less) that the first pieces will be arriving in May. Well heck, if they don't start making NA spec cars until May 12, I sure don't see them arriving here two weeks later, unless they use that new teleporter system we all heard so much about on Star Trek.

So, while it doubtless cold comfort, be glad that Mazda USA at least communicates with you guys... we here have nothing except the good word of our dealer (who for me and ZoomZoom is excellent): but the dealer can only be as good as the info they get from Mazda Canada. Emails? Seems computer technology has not yet graced the Canadian headquarters. Customer service? "Talk to your dealer".

You get the idea... and hey, if Boowanna is upset: there's gotta be something to that! ;)

I have the same issue and have been waiting that long as well. The only difference is that i am not buying one (due to money). I still want it to be out so it can show up all the nay-sayers.

The fun and excitement of waiting for this beautiful machine is whining down. all I can say is if I can not get my RX8 until August (summer here is very short) I think I will wait until next spring hopefully I will have a shot at the RX8SPEED or maybe interior (yellow/black).:D :D

With this economy and people losing their jobs, people may be getting out of their preorders and buying cheaper cars, or no cars.

I am still waiting for my RX8 though.

Like many of you, I've waited more than a year and a half. An extra month, that really isn't extra since they have always said between June-August for the first pre-orders, isn't going to kill me.

The 350z people ordered in January and had to wait until August-October for their cars, so I guess it could be worse...

Everyone needs to simmer down a little... simma down now..

As per the FAQ, and Pre-order text that was posted on rotarynews.com (http://rotarynews.com/view.php?article=20030107.html), and also on this site, and I think also on Mazdausa.com. . . I will quote from the same exact memo that went out to all the dealers on the presale:

Cars ordered in January should arrive between June-August, in Feburary between July and September, and in March between August and October.

If you were told anything different by your dealer, they are either lying, have incorrect info, or are clueless and are pulling dates out of their ass.

A July delivery is "on-schedule" according to the first literature sent out. Any subsequent literature/copy/verbal that says otherwise I would take with a grain of salt, as it has not been made public in a press release, or sent out to the community of presale people, or sent to rotarynews.

So, repeat after me:
January Order: June-Aug
Feburary Order: July-Sep
March Order: Aut-Oct

Now, with alllll of that being said, Mazda has done a poor job at keeping pre-order people informed. The addage of No-News is good news doesn't quite apply here. I'll see if I can make a call or two to see if some weekly emails from Mazda can be sent out, maybe not with status updates, but so pre-sale people don't feel forgoten.

Sadly for me, I too wil not be getting my RX-8 for at least a couple of more years ... due to my misadventure, last January with my old 1990 Probe. But now I own a 2003 MP5 and have resigned myself to (hang out at my Mazda dealership and) wacth this forum to read about everyone else and their experience ...

So, from my perspective a few more months is much better than a few more years ... But I can certainly relate and commiserate with all of you who have pre-ordered - I've been waiting since the RX-Evolve was shown with the buzz that it was going to be produced as the RX-8 ... and I thought back in 1999, I would be driving my RX-8 at least by fall of 2002 ...

I just returned form RevItUP where I sat in and fiddled with the two traveling RX-8s; one Red with Red/Black and a Blue with Black/Black leather.

As the interior in the red one matches what I ordered (mine is Titanium exterior), I just predtended to be in my driveway.

I AM GOING TO WAIT. What the hell, I've waiited since the RX Evolv. Whats a couple more months or so.

I am reinvigorated and am not going to think about delivery dates.

I am Happy again...:D :D :D

I too attended the rev-it-up today. I was extremely pleased to get to sit in the red, as it is identical to what I ordered less the nav system.

I was extremely pleased with the leg/head room. I've been sweatin it a little, even with the comments that have been made on the forum, you just don't know until you sit in it an can move the seat around a bit. At 6'2", there was more than enough room:) for my 36" long legs.

The only problem now is that I want the friggin car ten times more than I did yesterday:)
