If you are to choose between these two colors which one do you prefer?

The blue. Yellow is too bright and flashy.

Blue. Yellow is nice for a while but I couldn't live with it on a daily basis. It's an occasional summer's day colour. Totally subjective of course: it's like asking my favourite band, no relevance to your likes at all.

blue..i agree yellow is a little too flashy...at least for me

I like yellow. It is better then the blue the RX-8 has. If it was the Mazda 6 blue then that would be a different story

For my mind Red but if forced between yellow and blue, does this give you a clue?

YELLOW. I find the blue a little girly. But that's just me.

Seeing your user name, I wonder why you're even asking? :)

Blue more girly then yellow?? haha seems like BS but hey its just opinions, I think the yellow is very nice and was my first choice with a yellow/black interior but the whole police magnet thing made me choose blue. I also like black but to maintain a nice looking black car is almost impossible. Blue seems to look very nice, not a police magnet, and not that hard to maintain. I think I picked the WINNING color haha

If the yellow was more mustard color, I would have picked it. It's too sunshine for me...especially without the two tone leather. Take the Blue.

As my wifes honda is very similar to the winning blue i can tell you its a great colour if a little to cute for a horny sports car suprisingly it also shows up the dirt rather quickly. Lightining yellow is my choice for the rx8 ,some members have mentioned that they found the yellow a bit flashy id venture to say that what ever colour u choose most punters will find the rx8 flashy in any colour .Whaever colour you choose make the choie for yourselves and not for soneone elses taste or thoughts . (DONT WORRY BE HAPPY)

I couldn't decide between the blue and the yellow, and told my dealer I was having trouble deciding. So he ordered one of each for me! (Like he'll have any trouble selling the one I don't want.)

Having now seen the Winning Blue up close and personal, I'd be very happy to take that color, but I'd still like to see the yellow before I decide. My only concern is that Lightling Yellow will clash with the wife's Vivid Yellow '02 Miata, whereas the Winning Blue would complement it just as my 10AE Miata used to.

I found with my sunburst yellow Miata, I attracted too much attention (from cops mostly). As soon and I got my BRG Miata, my driving record got better :D

Similar problem with one of the writters for SCC.

This car takes well to metallics &/or micra. Yellow has none
and I for one seem to think it a bit more bulbous from rear square-on view.

I like both as well, but somehow the yellow seems more exciting and eyecatching. The blue is nice, but it doesnt say Wow from paserbys than the red or the yellow. Sadly, the police will notice that as well

Every one seems to be concerned that yellow attracts unwanted attention from the police ,however i must remind you that Speed cameras ,Speed traps, hand held radar guns DONT differrentiate between car colours youre either speeding or your not. Youre car colour wont effect your speed .Yellow is well known as being the safest colour specially at night or in poor visibility conditions.

Winning Blue all the way!

I saw the Winning Blue RX-8 again today at the Dallas Rev-It-Up, but this time it was parked very close to a blue Protege, and I can report that the Winning Blue is a little lighter than the Protege blue. Hopefully that helps those who have not had a chance to see it in person.

p.s. That's a sharp looking 10AE you have there, Diane. ;) (It's a little shinier than when I last saw it, too!)

Thanx! What can I say, the previous owner was such a good autocrosser that my little guy doesn't have any cone marks on him. :D

And thanx for the reference on the shade of blue. I did think that the Winning Blue looked a bit lighter than the Laser Blue of the Proteges. good deal...

Now if Greg can only make up his mind on whether to order a WB RX-8 or wait for the Mazdaspeed version...

Eccles, is it as light as estoril blue M3? Does it look sporty? I don't want my Rx8 to look ordinary next to the yellow one. I am still confused, yellow or blue, yellow or blue....

Colour is only skin deep. But it should represent
your values. Here is a list and then decide:

AUTHENTICITY
SELF-WORTH
CREATIVITY
BEAUTY
HARMONY
TOUCH
REST
SUPPORT

Which one gives you inner peace &/or self-confidence?

If I get both Blue and Yellow, I will abolutely get inner peace and self confidence....:p

Just to get an even better frame of reference from people who have seen the blue, I currently own a VW Jetta in Lagoon Blue which is a medium metallic blue leaning slightly towards the lighter side. Can anyone tell me if this color is pretty close to the Winning Blue? For comparison, the pic of the Winning Blue at the top of the forum seems virtually identical to my Jetta

Not that I'm going to change my color choice or anything, just wanted to get an idea up front about the color in person.

Not my car, but here is a picture for reference.....

http://home.earthlink.net/~dieseltdi/_uimages/MVC-020S.JPG It's hard to tell from a photo, but that looks pretty close. The Winning Blue is perhaps just a tad brighter.

I've only seen the color swatches at the show, but for sure the Winning Blue was much better, IMO, than the flatter and darker Protege blue. However I think on the car, the pictures you took from the Rev-it-Up in Houston are by far the best looking yet. So, how close to how you saw it at the show are those pictures? If it looks like that, I'll be very happy.

P.S. THANKS for those pics and the movies...I've been showing them to everyone and saying that it's the car I'm getting :D.

I would get blue. I think yellow is one of those colors that is flashy on a new model car, but give it a few years and it'll look really dated (same goes for the orange color that Nissan is using). Kinda like the teal cars of a few years back. Also I saw a article and yellow was listed as one of those harder colors for resale (which I think has to do with what I said before about dated).

Yeah, photos can be deceiving, but I thought someone might have seen a VW in Blue Lagoon in person to compare it to. I know someone said that it is a little darker than the blue on the G35 coupe. Can you confirm this eccles?

The color in the pics is fairly close, but I think the closest match is actually the color in the second short mpg.

Consider this shot from the same series, which looks completely different:

It looks completely different because the sun angle is from the opposite direction; look at the direction of the shadows.

From a photographer's perspective, the picture I posted would be considered "proper subject lighting". The one you posted would be considered stylistic lighting.

The images from the Japaneese website are the finest I've seen. I think they best represent what the car will look like in direct sunlight - bright yellow with a pinch of mustard to it.

-Mr. Wigggles

Ps. If you want to be exact as possible. The Japanese system of color requires computer monitors to have their white-point set to 9300K. If your computer monitor has that option I would set it to that value to get an as exact match.

I guess my point is that I will wait until I've seen the yellow in person before I decide. Having already seen the blue, I'd be more than happy to go with the blue if the yellow turns out to be too palid for my liking. :)

so i actually really like the blue color on the x-men car. i think that'd been a cooler blue, or nice addition to winning blue. they called it "mutant blue." it seems more purplish and darker. so, that's not the same color as winning blue right?

but nevertheless, winning blue is growing on me more and more after seeing more pictures of it, especially pictures at shows. but if it came down to the choice i think i'd still pick the yellow. it's becoming a tougher and tougher choice tho :D

The previous car that I owned had a Lemon Yellow paint job and I absolutely loved the color. But now I'm going for BLUE.
