View Full Version : Used daily and kept outside?
ACRX8 05-01-2003, 11:18 AM I would like to take a poll on why is going to use their RX-8 every day and the car will be kept outside always. I am having a hard time know that my RX-8 will be outside everyday all year long.
Outside - not covered in anyway.
Please state your location.
Anyone else? :p
Vancouver 05-01-2003, 11:52 AM I am curious. Is a Carport - a covered driveway - considered inside or outside?
TreknMazda 05-01-2003, 11:58 AM I have driven my RX-7 daily and never had a garage for it... That's since September 9, 1985 and over 260,000 miles. It has been repainted once, in 1994. I would like to have a garage for the RX-8 but I believe I can cope without it;)
Oh, location: 1985-1987 Florida Space Coast, 1987-present Virginia/DC

You make me feel a little better! I live in the Phila Pa area and we get a little more harsh weather than you. I'm just having a hard time thinking of my RX-8 in the snow and ice? What the hell, it's a car and should be driven:p
B-Nez 05-01-2003, 01:41 PM I'll be driving mine a minimum of 60 miles daily, and will be garaging it at night. I know that I won't be able to resist leaving it out during the day for the neighbors to gawk at ;)
Garaging is mandatory for me, as my cat LOVES to lounge on the nice warm hoods of our cars.
Elara 05-01-2003, 01:44 PM It'll be uncovered for now, as I live in an apartment, but once we get a house, it'll live in the garage.
Both, garage sometimes, outside sometimes. Inside is great for the winter as you don't have to scrape but then you get rust forming sooner :(
JTek_55 05-01-2003, 03:39 PM For now, I have no choice but to leave my TT outside to brave the elements (which are basically rain and very hot sun). I live in a townhouse and probably will be there another year. After that, we are getting a regular house with a garage... *whimpers* my poor ragtop...

You just have to give yourself exra time to get it out!
RotorGeek 05-01-2003, 11:17 PM My garage is getting preped for the RX-8. I will be painting a rotor motif on the floor in a Month or too. have to make the car happy don't I...
I live in muggy south Florida

driven everyday and inside at home but outside at the office.
lefuton 05-04-2003, 03:57 AM will be outside, but gonna get an all weather cover for it
jonalan 05-04-2003, 11:11 AM In a garage at home and covered parking at work.
TJRX8 05-04-2003, 10:30 PM Florida.
Garaged when not being driven or washed.
brothervoodoo 05-05-2003, 02:13 PM I live in a condominium complex with covered carport but it is exposed to weather. My driving pattern shouldn't change with the 8, prob 3-5 days a week.
ShadowBlasko 11-13-2010, 01:47 PM As I have no garage, my 8 sits outside, and I figured things would be ok.
Go figure that we would have the most severe hail storm in years, and all I could do was watch as she got all dimpled.
But hey, according to physics, the dimples make the airflow more dynamic and allows for less drag! (Trying desperately to look on the bright side)
CyberPitz 11-13-2010, 08:27 PM Mine stays in a carport, but it's hardly safe from the elements.
ShadowBlasko 11-13-2010, 11:03 PM Actually I was being a bit dramatic. There are probably only about 20 dents left worth noticing. I'm slowly working them out with the heat gun and dry ice... and that is working surprisingly well.
deadphoenix52 11-13-2010, 11:08 PM congrats for searching. this thread is 7 years old
CyberPitz 11-13-2010, 11:09 PM Oh, ha! Didn't realize!
