When I'm just cruising around I usually shift 1-3-5 or 1-2-4-5 or sometimes even 2-4-5. I only use all the gears when I need the full power band of my car. Also, I can match revs so well that I can shift clutchless. Do any of you do this? Is this really bad for the transmission?

To "leave some speeds out" should be no problem of course. But personally I would never shift clutchless. Use the clutch for what it is designed!

rev matching and shifting w/o the clutch is just fine so long as you are not grinding gears...tho i imagine you use the clutch in first still =)

if you've got a box with synchros, you still really REALLY should use the clutch to shift (the synchros would be doing the job of the clutch if you left it out)... if it's just a banger box, then it doesn't matter... (just easier to match the revs using the clutch)
anyways, skipping gears is fine... but really, USE THAT CLUTCH... judging on how you're normally driving, the clutch will see almost no wear at all that way, and is way cheaper to replace anyways...

I stopped clutchless shifting after I blew up a T5 tranny. I slammed in 2nd gear and I swear the car jerked so hard it felt as if it came off the ground. I had to drive home in 4th gear as it was the only gear that would go in.
