Hey Guys/Gals,

Recently decided to paint my calipers. Decided to use a blue paint since I really haven't ever seem blue calipers before.. had to be different :) What do you think of the look with my Ti 8?

it's stretching the envelope as far as color combinations go but if you like it thats all that matters. and yea your rotors are cool. :D

Hate to say, but for sake of opinion, to me the car looks to "blingy". Essentially the chrome and to many color combinations. I think you may have been better going with a gray or black...a nuetral color. But hey, that's me, there are lots of people who do like that. Most of all...I don't drive it, so ultimitely, it doesn't matter, but since you were asking opinions...

if you really want the blue, then i suggest going with a darker almost navy coloured blue....vs. a baby blue, just my opinion though!

I don't like them. Look at your third picture - see the red tail lights? They clash with the blue. Red calipers would match much better.

hmmmmm chromed brake calipers? Or high gloss silver?

Was trying to decide what to do for my 8's calipers actually.

I'm not sure about chromed calipers--While they may normally look cool, with as much brake dust as our 8's accumulate, it may make them look ragged. You appear to have replaced the stock discs, though, so maybe it's a non-issue?

Yeah well.. whatcha gonna do.. A few people I know have seen it in person and they liked the blue.. guess it's all a matter of taste. I just wanted to try something different and see what blue would look like.. you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a deep blue caliper paint.. I'll probably end up painting them black, quick and easy.. as soon as I find some time to take the wheels off again..

drilled/slotted rotars produce more brake dust than normal rotars.. however, due to the extra air flow through the rotar the brake dust disperses (sp?) must better and you won't get as much no the wheels. After getting the new rotars I only have to clean the wheels every 4 or 5 days compared to every other day.. :)

wow spelling is horrible, but whatever this is a car site not an English board. To me "less is more" you have WAY to many colors going on there. gray, red, white, blue, black. looks like a color wheel. but hey thats just me!

I agree. Blue looks bad. I would paint either black, grey or red to at least match theother parts on your car that are already that color.

Agree. Blue is out there all by itself and sort of clashes with the other colors. I would go along with the others for a different color, but if you think it looks great and others do too then stay with it, or wait till you have some time to try a different color like silver or black or natural. Like the rotors.

I think the RX8 is beautiful just the way it came off the factory line. Why change it? Spend your money elsewhere.

The RX caliper tends to rust up after months of washing and driving so its not a bad idea to paint them as long as you don't get paint on the caliper shoes. I like the factory look too when its new and clean but that does not last too long though so something else needs to be done for appearance purpose mostly. I don't like the dirty rust look but that's the owner's issue.

Well, here are the pics of the black instead of the blue.. didn't strip off the blue, just painted over.. I suppose I'll try to save face and say the blue was a primer :)

Looks great. The whole car looks great. Like the wheels. Like the clear corners and fender strakes. Enjoy your 8. I have a red model so I want to paint them red later on.

sooo true, unless you are really improving the performance or reliability mechanically, i agree.

I'm not a fan of the silver gas cap either

i'm no designer or anything but I'd say that the issue I would give for not liking the mods you have done is that there seems to be no direction where you are going with it. The bule calipers clash with everything, the chrome gas cap lid stands out a little too much(I think a brushed steel one would look much better) and those rims are just to busy. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything but you are ASKING for opinions. But although its cliche, if you like it thats all that matters.

Well, the fuel door isn't chrome, it is the brushed aluminum. THough it still looks very shiny when the light hits it the right way. The wheels passed my car club test at my last meet, so I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. Thanks for the comments... Oh yeah.. the blue calipers were painted black about a week ago.. this is an old thread :)

Why succumb to opinions here? The blue looked great, now that black, can't even see em, at least with blue they stand out. With your silver 8, paint em red...pix tomorrow? :D Btw, nice Italian rims.

when i bought my RX-8 the calipers were discolored and the drums were rusted. I had my dealer buff the drums and repaint them. i chose blue for the calipers on my silver RX-8 and everyone who has seen them, like them. Its all about preference i guess. after all these comments i dont know whether or not to show it. either way, philodox, do whatever you like. just my $.02
