No, not a preference but your personal status. No cheating and if you don't know then ask a reliable friend. If you don't have a friend then guess.

Okay, I guess I should step forward. I'm female #3 to respond to this poll :). I was a little reluctant to since I didn't want to be viewed as the stereotypical female car dummy ;). I have to admit, I don't know too much about technical auto stuff (guess I've been paying more attention to aesthetics and "fun factor" up 'til now :p ), but I'm trying to learn more by hanging around this forum! :D

So, are there any other females lurking out there?

This is a very understanding forum, so I wouldn't worry about that. I'm a guy and don't know a ton of the tech stuff either.:)

I don't think any of the ladies on this board fit that stereotype....

Hey, I'm doing the same thing- I know little about cars, and next to nothing about rotaries, but I figure if I hang out here long enough and read what everyone posts, I'll soak up some of it, right?

And pardon me for a minute but I need to rant: WHY aren't there more general automotive classes at community colleges? I'd LOVE to take one, but they only seem to be geared towards those who want to become an automotive tech (wouldn't mind going through the training, but it's all during the day, and I have to make money SOMEHOW). I checked one school around here that look promising, and you have to go talk to the instructor first. I doubt I'd have any luck- he'd probably look at me like I was an idiot.

Don't worry ladies, it is all to your benefit, pretty sure the "Use the Search Button" Patrol will be a little less harsh the ladies. So its all good.

for all of you new to the rotary engine, i'd suggest a couple of links which could explain to you (rather simply) the wankel engine (in progressively more detail)...

I'm sure (I hope) that after the RX-8 is out on the streets (and after their boyfriends take them to see X-men2) our female population will improve ...

;)

I see the female population has grown by one more now!

I'm girl # 5.
I found this forum while researching the RX8. I'm more of a lurker than a poster.

I fell in love with the RX7 while working at a Mazda dealership in '95, so I figured I would check out the RX8, as I need something both fun and practical.
I can't wait to test drive one.

Speaking for myself, this forum is very habit-forming ... I also tend to be more of a lurker ... at least as compared to you, oh master of posts!

I'm a male, but the RX-8 will be my wife's car. She's not particularly interested in the forum, but I'm enjoying the info. We're great-grandparents, so I'm sure she doesn' t fit the stereotypes. She thinks the car is cute, I like the rotary engine.

That's great! Out of curiosity, have you ever driven or owned a rotary before? I never have - but I've always liked what I've read and heard about them. Plus, I've learned a lot of interesting things while lurking about ... from this forum ...

:)

Hey, by the way ... welcome to the forum ( I fogot to mention it when we posted eailer --- as of yesterday still no letter/going to call my dealership later today)!

Not to me!

... anyone over the three digit post mark has my true respect ...

:p

and more time on there hands then I do ...

- plus, when I'm not lurking ... all I seem to do is ask questions (or make stupid attemts at humorous coments), while you usually can offer helpful answers and funny coments ...

so my point is to others, it's OK to lurk, but please don't feel dumb if you ask questions - some usually has an answer!

I am lucky female #7 on the poll. I can't wait to get my Mazda RX-8.
My father owns a mint condition RX-7 twin turbo and he treats it as thought its dipped in gold. He is corporate Mazda so I started out driving a mazda at sweet 16 and have owned one ever since. He wouldn't get me an RX-7 for my sweet 16 (he thought I'd wreck it or get a speeding ticket), but he did get me a 626. I have also driven just about evey one since then at sometime or the other. He brings different ones home all the time. My sister still lives at home so she has the oppurtunity to drive them, I just look at them these days. I currently own a 2001 Mazda MPV, fully loaded. My second one. They are great for trips with the entertainment package. We just recently sold two of our mazda trucks, and one of our fords. My husband just got his new Ford F250 crew cab (I think that's right...the 4 doors open similar to the RX-8's) he ordered in a few weeks back, and that is really nice. I am on pins and needles waiting for the RX-8. I have been bugging my poor father to death about it. Every time he calls....I want to know what the update is on the RX-8's. Poor man. I already tried to get it in white, and was told there was no way to get one in white for 2004 in the US. However Mazda has received much interest from people wanting it in white, so it may change in the next year or two. If mazda can make some money, rest assured they will make it available in the white here. My father still wouldn't trade his RX-7 for anything else, including the RX-8. He is going to take some photos with his digital cam of some and e-mail them to me . I'll post them as soon as I recieve them. Which I hope will be soon.

*wave* Hi, Di!

hey! yah, here I am! Back from the sabbatical in Austin (about a month :D).

I'm still a bit active with the RX Club in Austin, just doing clerical duties while the current Prez is out of town. :)

There's not many Mazdas here in Louisville, let alone RX-7s. We will be transferring again in a few months, so I will be able to start a new Mazda club where we end up. :)
