Well... another go with "The Gimp" yielded this...
enjoy.
(The trick was to edit the contrast independently for Red Green and Blue... taking one closer to the limit where it starts to go grainy... Then desaturate and adjust the contrast again to take advantage of the grain.)
I think it could be improved by adding a tiny smear of the forground as a reflection to add some colour... but this photo has fairly bland forground.
And all without ANY Microsoft Software! LOL... Linux rocks!

Nice try, it’s the best attempt of silver that I’ve seen here, but it still looks too much like grey to me.

Wow! That looks great. It almost looks like polished stainless steel or aluminum. If they could find something that shines like that, I would consider silver. Most silvers you see are too dull, almost like grey.
Here is my go at silver..... I was trying for the bluish-silver seen on the RX-Evolv. (Anybody have a bigger picture of that, BTW??)

Sorry, but all the silver's here are very off and not even close (no offense to anybody or their skills), and yes I admit out of all the colors it's very hard to convert. But here's my go at it of what I believe to be a more proper silver.
