Anyone know the answers to any of the questions that I have listed below? I have been trying for weeks to get answers to these two questions, but unfortunately I have not had any success.

Will the GT trim 8 have automatic climate control?

Will we get a donut spare tire or will we receive the repair kit?

These questions are naturally directed to the Canadian models only - thanks in advance!

the word is that it's very very likely we'll have automatic climate control...

Unfortunately you used the word likely, I also believe/hope that the 8 will have automatic climate control but unfortunately Mazda Canada's web site only mentions "air conditioning" under the car's specifications. Normally when they say air conditioning that does not mean automatic climate control. Automatic climate control is available on one of the Mazda 6 trim levels so I would hope that the 8 is getting it also.

Still looking for the definitive answer.

YOU will definately get the donut, cover, holder & jack standard.
Ontario law. It is the rest of us who are not sure.....

I would prefer NOT to get the 'auto climate' option, I hate it on my Legend, never use it, it is always selecting 'recirc' at inappropriate times!
But you didn't want opinions, so my snippet of fact is that I did not see the little round 'sunshine' sensor on the dash of any '8' so far.....which only means that the ones I have seen are not an automatic system!

Hope that adds to your confusion,
Ray

EDIT-----Late news/ Reg plate # 'RX 8 GT' received! ( 'RX 8' is already taken by Mazda Canada.)

just one question Dr.R... where is "northern Canada" if it's all The Great White North anyway, eh?? ...(IIRC, which is REALLY doubtful) Alberta??

Just way north of where I should be.
You're right, north of Edmonton, north of sanity, north of all that's godly, north of 'for Lord's sake take me home'. North.

Ontario law.

The spare tire is not mandated by law. As my salesman quite correctly pointed out, cars have been sold here without spare tires, most notably the Plymouth Prowler and the C5 Corvette. Both cars were sold with run flats and no spare.

That does not mean we won't get the spare, of course, just that it wouldn't be mandatory. For the rest of the stuff, I dunno.

Okay here's what I know, unofficial, ofcourse, but based on some logical and sound information I have gathered over the past several months.

The 8 will not have run flat tires, they weight too much and eff's up the nicely tuned suspension.

Spare tire will be donut only cause the real McCoy don't fit. The donut tire is not standard equipment either, optional, at what price, "DON'T KNOW" Mazda Canada seems to have no clue about that, or most anything else.

I will look into the Climate Control crap, this is the first I have heard about it, but does it really matter as long as the a/c works?

Someone got a quote from a Mazda Representative that Auto Climate Control is not available on the RX-8

but they were calling from the states so that info is only for US cars. you'd have to get an answer from mazda canada. incidentally someone is checking for me about it in the states because they heard to the contrary.

No auto climate... no sale.........err maybe not :)

But seriously I don't know what this means, but this is what http://autos.msn.ca has to say.

- Ventilation system with recirculation
setting and micro filter
- Air conditioning with climate control

Doesn't say "auto" climate control, maybe it's a manual climate control ? :D

Here are answers after sitting in the retail version of the car:

RX-8 does NOT have climate control. This will probably be changed in the future cars being built.

Will we get a donut spare tire or will we receive the repair kit?

No donut spare, but a tire repair kit is in the car.

Hope that helps!

We have known for quite some time now that the Canadian cars will not be getting automatic climate control. :( However, the no donut spare but a tire repair kit is news to me and I am pleased to have the additional room in the trunk.

The MazdaUSA site shows the spare tire kit on their accesories brochure. My dealer asked if I wanted the kit when I put my order in for accesories. I told him I was not interested. He did tell me the price, but I forgot what it was. I'll give him a call tomorow and get it.

Someone does have a sense of humour to sell a Spare Tire Mounting Kit without a spare tire...
