View Full Version : how many?
knihc2008 04-21-2003, 01:23 PM i was wondering how many rx-8's were gonna be made each year. of course, the more the merrier, but if mazda decides to go buckwild and make 20-30,000 of them like nissan did with their z the car won't be nearly as attractive anymore. case in point, the 350z and the g35 coupe came out the same time, but, at least to me, the g35 is ages more attractive to me still because i don't seem them every single day on the streets like i do with the z.
so how many rx-8's will we see on the roads?

zoom44 04-21-2003, 01:27 PM mazda has said @ 60,000/year with about half going to the US.
N20SA22C 04-21-2003, 01:54 PM I have been told 28,000 in the US which makes it still pretty rare company. Choose green ext with brown int and you will be 1 in 28000:)

Nah, there'd be at least 3 of us then.
well not that white is a bad color but how many ppl do you think chose white? IMO, the only sports car or "sporty" car to look better in white than any other color are the new Preludes

yea i hear u man. i hate it when the streets get filled with all the same damn cars. like cars that r hot when they first come out but then everyone and their uncles goes out and buys it. for example the is300, my car the bmw 3 series, and the latest victim(s), the 350z, g35c sooooooo many 350z's and g35c's its not even funny.
what mazda shoulda done was make it ONLY IN MANUAL. that would of drastically cut down on the amount of people that dont appreciate these kind of cars. like the s2000, i hardly see any s2000's, why? because its available only in manual. or the evolution, i havent seen a single evolution yet and the car has been out for a few months now, why? cause its only in manual. making it only in manual is the key here, it prevents plp that shouldnt be buying these cars from buying these cars.
/rant off
anyways there was a news article awhile ago, something like 17,000 for the first year and then 30000 for the following years

I think how many you see will depend A LOT on where you live. My case in point:
I think it's really cool when I get to see the 350z because I almost never see them (only 3 times), whereas I see the g35 (sedan, at least) almost everywhere I look. I think if I lived in California or Florida it would probably be a different story ...

Mazda South and Mazda North here in Austin are routinely the 2nd- and 3rd-highest volume Mazda dealers in the nation(*), and they regularly get more than their fair share of special editions, etc. 10AE Miatas are almost a dime a dozen around here - we have four regular attendees in our local Miata club alone.
So I expect to see a goodly number of RX-8's around here by the end of the year. Fortunately, exclusivity is not a consideration for me.
(*) How two dealerships in the same metroplex of 1 million people can manage that is a constant source of amazement to me.
