Lensman 04-20-2003, 04:23 AM Fabulous effort PoLaK and I'm very grateful. Now if I could just access your FTP port. It is currently disabled for 'security reasons'. Any chance of someone hosting this via HTTP?
BlueAdept 04-20-2003, 04:52 AM I've made some additions to PoLaK's original post... you might find it easier to get the files now.. Will stick for a few days.
Nice going PoLaK... if somone wants to host on HTTP too... I'm sure we can add more URL's.. Infact if somone wants to create a small network of hosting sites so we can mirror stuff and spread load in future then PM me!
PoLaK, we could do with a list showing what order the unnumbered pages appear in the booklet.
Lensman 04-20-2003, 05:06 AM Thanks BlueAdept, that helped a lot... :D
EDIT: PoLaK: GREAT JOB! I've now read the supplement and it's a fine thing. The section on cruising to Laguna Seca in particular. The quality of the images is first rate and much appreciated.
maverikk 04-20-2003, 06:59 AM Many many thanks! I had to use a FTP program but then I got thru. Tnx! :)

The part I found impressive was when they loaded up the RX-8 with 4 adults, and took it out on the track to see how the additional weight would affect handling.
They were impressed, as the characteristics remained the same, with slight understeer.
We have got one sweet ride heading our way boys & girls!
Oh, and I have added my avatar for this being my 100th post.
eccles 04-20-2003, 04:13 PM Thanks, guys. My copy arrived in the mail yesterday, but I sure appreciate your time and effort to make it available to the rest of us.
Once I get it all downloaded, I'll put it up on my FTP server too, to help share the load.
Edit: Done. Now also available here. (ftp://RX-8:renesis@ftp.snikte.net/R+T_Supplement)
lefuton 04-20-2003, 04:57 PM i'd like to extend a personal thank you, i've searched 12 or so book stores over the past 2 weeks and none of em had it.
ZoomZoomH 04-21-2003, 08:58 AM thanks to all that's making these files available! :)
now if my goddamn local bookstore can just have this on their stands
quicks8 04-21-2003, 09:20 AM Thanks for scanning, that must have been a real chore, and thanks to everyone for hosting...
ELX13 04-21-2003, 09:35 AM many thanks for that PoLaK!!
a co-worker let me borrow his copy to read this weekend (which i did...twice ;)) and i was dreading giving it back to him this morning!
this makes it a little easier to part with. although i'd still love my own hard copy. (not to beat a dead horse but has ANYBODY found this in stores yet?)
thanks again!
Lensman 04-21-2003, 09:38 AM has ANYBODY found this in stores yet?
More importantly: why the heck haven't Mazda produced something even half as good and posted it to us? I suppose that now we've put money down we're a captive audience but you'd think SOME kind of halfways decent brochure could be produced.
Smoker 04-21-2003, 10:37 AM Thanks a lot Gentlemen I really appreciate your efforts.

i think because Mazda has paid a SUBSTANTIAL amount of money to get R&T to write up and print this (with all info obviously supplied by Mazda) for the North American market...
boy oh boy, i really liked the motorsports history: quite nice, i even learned a few things ;)
...and how about those Star Mazda cars, eh???? :D!! wow, those're gonna kick some serious ass, with full tv coverage too :D!!
god, they look great for a junior class car... they sure did a great job developing it too, eh?? cheaper and faster than the Toyota Atlantics... sweeeeet. :D

Should we believe a word of it then?

If you can't or aren't attending one of those, you could drop a line to rx8orders and ask if they have any more available - that's how I got mine.
lurcher 04-21-2003, 04:21 PM Great work chaps, scanner and mirrorers, plenty of meat to digest there. :) Mazda must have paid handsomely for this, very well produced. I wonder if this is the booklet that Mazda UK are hinting at sending to British pre-orderers...
In case it isn't, can someone help me complete the collection and scan/post page 41, "Page 41.jpg" is actually page 40 in disguise :)
Lensman 04-21-2003, 04:36 PM The UK book has been described as hardback and about the development of the RX concept so I think it's different to this one.

I don't have a scanner, but if nobody else has come through by the time I get home, I'll take a digital picture of the real page 41 and add it to my site.
PoLaK 04-21-2003, 10:39 PM Correction made i editied the zip and put a single Page 41.jpg into the folder for all those who have downloaded it, sry it was late.

TreknMazda 04-29-2003, 06:03 PM Just received an email from my dealer that included an attachment about Mazda RX-8 marketing efforts. The R&T booklet is being delivered to dealers in May.
To help your dealership harness all the positive momentum that has been generated by the press accolades and the pre-sell activities—and build upon it in coming weeks—you and your sales team should be aware of some of the unique marketing activities that will keep our RX-8 squarely in the public spotlight:
•Mazda RX-8 Custom Publication by Road & Track
This impressive, 68-page, 4-color book provides a compelling overview to the RX-8. Created by America’s oldest auto enthusiast publication, it has already been mailed to select subscribers of both Road & Track and Car and Driver. Multiple copies of this outstanding product education and marketing tool should arrive at your dealership by the end May.
SpacerX 07-02-2003, 09:03 PM Just now finding this thread -- great stuff!
I had found this special section in the library, and had wondered how I might ever get hold of a good reproduction -- this is outstanding work, guys.
Will very likely be driving one of these cars next year, after we get settled after the move -- had been thinking of getting one of the new Z cars, but I find the unconventional nature of the RX8 (in just about every aspect of its design) so much more appealing, though.
