You'll have to select one from dealer allocation. Renesis08 05-05-2003, 01:10 PM Originally posted by Toadman Pre-ordering is done. You'll have to select one from dealer allocation. Probably with a dealer markup. That would suck! Charleston 06-13-2003, 04:36 AM I purchased/ordered my car at MSRP at Courtesy Mazda... in Las Vegas by going to Costco.com and using their order form. The RX-8 was not listed so I chose the Mazda 6. When the Costco dealer rep called, I told him what I did. He said that normally he could go below MSRP but that he could not do that on the RX-8 due to the limited supply of new RX-8s that will be available. The really neat thing about this is that the "upcharge" to the guy off the street will be 2 to 4 K and I at least avoided that issue. I am also getting all of my acceesories installed at no extra charge as dealer "adds". I ordered the auto but changed it to manual after learning the price differentials on accessories of manuals versus autos. Specifically the auto costs at least $390 more when you add the aluminum pedals and leather gear knob. All things considered I think the manual is a better deal and I'll take the extra 37 horses too. If you order accessories do it early as adds. I ordered the exhaust finishers, rotary inserts, aluminum bezel vents, blue tint fog lights, and leather parking brake lever. Jsuzuki 06-15-2003, 07:32 PM I ordered my car through Thousand Oaks Mazda at MSRP... But they are clueless (http://www.rx8forum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5378). And I hear the service the department is on the clueless side as well. In fact several of my co-workers can't stand the entire group, the Star Automotive group. 8_wannabe 06-15-2003, 10:53 PM According to Kurt, a salesman at Hine Mazda in San Diego, they never mark up from MSRP, and he specifically said that included the 8. I forget his exact words but he almost made it sound like they might negotiate down from there, to below sticker. If you're a good negotiator it's worth a try. He seemed like a straight-up guy and gave me lots of good info on the car. Nice to find someone who knows their product. Like any dealer, there were clueless reps onsite; make sure you call ahead and ask for Kurt. |
