I was wondering if anyone has pulled the stock front and/or rear seats and replaced the front with lighter racing seats. Any idea how heavy the front stock seats are? those airbags can't be light.

 

No use replacing the back ones. They weight about 5 pounds and are sitting on top of metal. They are just pads.

The front ones I've seen replaced, but didn't ask any questions about them...

 

Let's not overexaggerate here... I think they're more like 4lbs. 5oz. I did see a photo of an RX-8 from Japan that replaced the rears with buckets on this forum somewhere... pretty sure that added weight to it. Sorry, didn't have a chance to weigh the stock fronts when I replaced them with the Sparcos.

 

Just took out my drivers seat to fit a "racing" seat and a stock leather power drivers seat is 55 LBS. The one I replaced it with was 41 LBS. That however is not why I did this.

 

wow, 55lb? I'm guesing the non power ones would be about 10lb lighter, so we'll say 45lb. Thanks for the info
