I saw this morning a TV ad for the new BMW Z4 which said available from June 19 (I think).
Obviously BMW are trying to raise awareness of the car, and it made me wonder if Mazda will have a TV campagn prior to the launch of the RX-8.
If they do, I hope its not one of those zoom-zoom-zoom ones.

Agree about the Mazda ads. The one for the Mazda 2 is awful.
Saw a Z4 parked in London earlier in the week. Looked every bit as...err...controversial as the reviews say.

Does anyone remember the old 'Special' advertising campaign?
Now that was more like it!
Focus on the car, raise awareness and that's all that wil be required because the car sells itself just by sitting there.

I get very irritated when I watch an advertisement for a car and get 28 seconds of crappy soap style drama or unneeded CGI then 2 seconds of the car at the end (probably from a poor angle in the dark). Just show me the car, inside and out please! Best car ad ever: Ford Puma with Steve McQueen. Very cool ad and I got to see a lot of the car.

Yeah I agree. most adverts dont show you much of the car at all , but there selling 'lifestyle' and a 'concept'.
Still, better than billboard adverts, 2002 was the year of the silver 3/4's front on on a white background only idea. maybee the manufacturers will be brave and try one in red or something.
Best one at the moment is the megane advert, desperatly trying to get me/us to think its as pretty as some teen models behind. But ugly more like it. Bring back nicole...

The best car ad for me is the Peugeot one where the little indian chappie beats his car to the shape of a 307 (not that I'd want one) it's just a good ad.
The new Honda one is also good but long!
Cheers

heh, I thought it odd they were saying a 206 is only abeat up remoddled ancient <whatever>. From what I hear the 'classic' in the advert prolly has less rattles...
First time I saw the honda I guessed it was a Merc. Those wing mirror indicators'n such...

I agree that advertisers should go back to basics and show the product they're peddling. Cheesy storylines, needless symbolism, loads of CG, or even the humorous gems (which I do like every now and then) may draw in viewers, increase ratings, and, at the very most, bring some name/product recognition by the general public; but if you want to actually sell the product, nothing works better than showing the product and what it does, whether it be food, drink, clothing, or sports cars.
