Sorry if this was already brought up but i couldnt find it in my search so yah...

the mazdaspeed engine cover... where can i buy it? how much? why? just for looks? real carbon fiber?

This makes me wonder, if the engine cover was useless and just for looks like many say on this forum, why would mazdaspeed add a useless part to make it heavier and cover up that beautiful strut tower brace? I think that it serves some purpose but what... What is the purpose? The design is different... somehow superior? does it really keep in heat or whatever the other people were saying... Hmm this is interesting, but yah that engine cover looks really nice though

Purely cosmetic!
Have you seen how "ugly" the engine bay is once you remove your engine cover?
It certainly doesn't look like what's under a hood of a Lamborghini or a Ferrari that's for sure.

Mazdaspeed is not purely about performance orientated products as we would all like to believe, just look at some of the other accessories, such as the oil filler cap and carbon console trims.
Surely the oil cap must weigh more than the standard plastic one?

yea its more for the looks department. btw i think thats the modified one for the four point front strut brace since the factory one won't fit. I don't think its a genuine ms part either looks like someone just put a metal emblem on it. My .02 cents.

Keep your covers on people! MazdaManiac (http://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php?p=500924&postcount=31) made some temperature measurements and found that the engine operates cooler with the cover on.

If it is just for looks, Mazdaspeed should have given their cover more flair. It looks very plain to me.

Read the post but it is not very detailed... Where was the temperature measured? On the second measurement what was the temp before the 3 minute cool down?

It could actually just be keeping the heat under itself were you don't want it...

pssst, post your question in the original thread where it can be seen and hopefully answered.

I'd like the MS 4point strut bar... but only for cars with the wheel at the wrong side:). Hope they'll make one for the rest of the world too...
