Rotarynews was right this should have it's own thread. i decided it should be a poll too. so so should we call the third set of ports the tertiary ports like wakeech or should we call them the6-ports so like dan says we can converse clearly with those old rx-7 guys:D

those old fogies can get stuffed... i'll quote my reasoning from the other thread later (at work)

they're tertiary ports, dammit: i wouldn't call them so if they weren't.

:cool::D:cool::D:cool::D

well "auxiliary" is a stupid name: it denotes that the port is of little importance, which it obviously isn't... this nomenclature also limits Mazda to using ONLY 3 ports, as you can't really have a "secondary auxilary" port without sounding like a total idiot... i want to see the days of 8 or even 10 port engines, and thus it is the "tertiary" (think like "thirdiary" ) leaving them room to continue development in this area

I don't think it matters as to what they are called as long as everyone knows what they are. Correct if I'm wrong, but to call it "tertiary" that would mean the others must be called primary and secondary. right????

Given that the official name is "auxilliary ports," I'm rather surprised that that wasn't a separate option but was instead lumped in with "something else."

Wait until you show up at an RX meeting and say something like "I sure can tell when my Tertiary ports open!"

The response..http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons/20.gif " Uhh.. huh?! ~ You mean the 6-ports??"

Why re-invent the wheel? Better communicate with the die-hards. 6-ports

And remember, I'm an "old fogie" rotor-head at the ripe age of 27... ;)

Tertiary works for me, or 'Third Port'. Definately not 'sixth', you only have three - like you would refer to the extra 'swirl' valve in a Honda VTEC.

Call 'em what you like, but make sure they DO ACTUALLY OPEN, people !!

...i know i'm being a technical snob, but i just couldn't bear saying "the six ports" to anyone with whom i was trying to have a serious-car-talk conversation with... i'd feel like a retard...

...following Mazda's own terminology, from primary (side housing), to secondary (intermediate housing), the next step would be then "tertiary" (above the primary port, side housing)... it only makes sense...

and i don't care what those old die-hards think of me when i say "tertiary"... people gimme funny looks when i say "whom" sometimes too, and that doesn't bother me: i know i'm right ;) ahahaha...

...especially when you consider that a conversation with an engine builder would be a little confusing if you said "the six ports", as only two of the six move, and only ports #5 and #6 are the ones you'd be refferring to... i mean just COME ON MAN!! i wanna have my little peice of rotary culture too... "The Tertiary Port"... "y'know man, i only just bought my first wankel yesterday, but i invented that term" ;) AHAHAHAHAA!!

Geezz man, I can't believe that the official Mazda term "auxilliary port" is not even an option in this poll !!!

kinda like the differences between our languages, eh?? English and American?? ;) hee hee!!

you call it "Zee", when it's really "Zed" (ask any citizen of a commonwealth country) :p
it's "colour" and not "color", "roof" and not "rough" (i don't know how anyone could read r-o-o-f and say "ruff"), shine and not "sheen"... etc etc etc...

and the stupidest (and most popular) American (media only) expression of late: "Weapons of Mass Destruction"... what the hell is that suppost to mean?? it's either severly incorrect grammatically (which is what i suppose it is), or severly incorrect in its intended meaning of "Weapons of MassIVE Destrution" or "Weapons of Gross Destruction"... "Weapons of Mass Destruction" suggests that these weapons completely destroy mass, which seems strange to me as it can't really be destroyed, but partially (totally?) turned into energy, which itself can't be created or destroyed... :D ahahaha...

...sorry i'm being so stupid, i'm hyper 'cause i'm gonna go karting... y'all (<- there's another one ;)) know i'm just kiddin'...

...and just another thought: why does it matter what Mazda calls it?? they speak japanese... like (from an early test-drive report i know Zoom, Quick, T-Man and other ol' skoolerz will remember) the description of the RX-8's "urchin nose" being "guoy gouy"... ;)

ahhhhhh... "It's the Greatest LOOOOOOVE!!" hahahahaa...

tertiary just makes sense. vote the right way... you know you waaaaaaaaant it.

i thought about putting it in but really auxilliary means like extra or redundant to be used when the other ones don't work and these ports are not for that. they have their own purpose. mazda calling them auxillary is probably a translation mistake. besides the last two choices were mainly put on for fun:D
