Following RobDickinsons thread about Trackers, I emailed Navtrak about the possibilities of a group buy and discount.

I started a new thread as I thought people may not read it if I posted this in the other one.

I have received a positive reply this morning which I have copied below.

If we can get 5 people interested it would be worth considering.

Dear Mr Williams,

Thank you for your mail regarding the possible installation of a Navtrak
ADR
system.

As you will be aware, the price of the system is £999 for the package
including 12 months subscription & warranty, and £1,349 for the package
including 36 months subscription & warranty.

I would gladly offer an additional year subscription absolutely free with
either package, if you arrange at least five bookings. Also, if you can
arrange ten bookings, I will be happy to give a further £50 discount on
the
3 year package.

Therefore, if you can get 10 people to order a 3 year package, they would
save:

£100 on the 3 year package.
An additional year subscription worth £195, totalling 4 years
subscription.
A £50 discount.

A total saving of £345

Don't forget, if within the 4 years any of your colleagues change
vehicles,
the unit is totally transferable, as is the subscription. You will never
lose anything on your investment.

Based upon the discount above, here is a comparison betwen the 3 main providers:

Navtrak is still the most expensive, though it is a more advanced system. I may also contact RAC and Tracker as well to see what discount they offer.

I have used the first two, and I think Navtrak is far superior as it will still alert even if the car is driven off with the keys (a lot of car theft now involves breaking into houses to get the keys, in which case most trackers wont activate until you call them)

I have no experience of Tracker, though I have read reviews in the past that it lags behind the other two.

Gotta say , the whole 'Big Brother' aspect of someone logging where I go , when I go there , How many miles I cover and then passing the information on to interested parties (such as my garage when NavTrack think a service may be due) scares me...

Will have to give it some thought.
Great system and all , but sort of scary.

Theory says they will be able to tell your speed too..... How much before plod are reviewing these records and retrospectively issuing speeding tickets "We can see that 6 months ago you travelled 100 miles in 1hr 5 minutes therefore you're nicked !"
