View Full Version : Kobe Case DROPPED
RussellP 09-01-2004, 07:11 PM Finally! They had no case from day one its pathetic that they took it this far. Theres proof that:
A: she slept with a man after kobe and before she went to the police. This evidence was found by a lab hired by HER attorneys.
B: her injuries could be caused by consensual sex. This information was introduced by an examiner hired by HER attorneys. They tried to hide this evidence. The defense called them on it just today, which was the final straw.
C: Shes a liar. She said off the bat that she hadnt had sex in 3 days and it was with a condom.
The defense story remained the same from day one. No twists, no turns.
DA Mark Hulbert should be thrown in jail for the term Kobe woulda had to serve.
Tigerfootball 09-01-2004, 07:13 PM i knew it was BS. just some stupid girl trying to get attention and money. if it really WERE rape, she would have made a MUCH bigger deal about it a lot sooner than she did. some people just make me sick
zoom44 09-01-2004, 07:17 PM also, from the story on msnbc-
In a motion made public Wednesday, defense attorneys said a forensics expert whom prosecutors had planned to call as a witness had information that “undermined the accuser’s allegations and the prosecution’s case, and corroborated Mr. Bryant’s defense on a central issue — the cause and significance of the accuser’s alleged injuries.”
The filing said those opinions were not disclosed to the defense until they contacted the expert Friday, despite repeated requests to prosecutors for the information. Prosecutors have said they have turned over all information they were required to.
“A person’s life and liberty are at stake,” the defense attorneys wrote. “The game of hide-the-ball, find-it-if-you-can discovery is intolerable. This court must vindicate Mr. Bryant’s constitutional rights and impose meaningful sanctions against the prosecution.”
The motion does not identify the expert, but prosecutors this spring had said they planned to call former New York City medical examiner Michael Baden to testify about the woman’s injuries.
Hurlbert had said during a July 19 hearing he had decided against using Baden. He did not elaborate.
The defense motion was first reported by ABC News, which cited unidentified sources who said Baden told prosecutors the woman’s injuries could have been caused by consensual sex. Baden did not return messages Wednesday.
The defense has also argued that injuries found on the woman could have been caused by sex with someone else in the time surrounding her encounter with Bryant, including someone afterward and before she went to a hospital. The woman’s attorneys have denied that claim.
Defense attorneys asked the judge to either dismiss the case or bar prosecutors from introducing any expert testimony relating to the accuser’s injuries. The judge gave prosecutors until Tuesday to respond.

well she went to the police the day after it happened. thats pretty soon. some rape victims dont report for a couple of days or more(obviously some never do) due to the psychological trauma.
mysql101 09-01-2004, 07:22 PM The town had put so much money into this, they had to continue to push to get Kobe in court. I guess it just didn't work out.
Tigerfootball 09-01-2004, 07:23 PM true. true. i just would think that if i were in her shoes, i would have gone that instant. but then again, i never took into consideration the psychological trauma
truemagellen 09-01-2004, 07:54 PM I think Kobe tore her apart, he is a POS anyway...I'm sure he did it and you know his wife knows that he did it too so that is why he bought her a half-a-million dollar diamond ring when the news story broke
who cares anyway...the Lakers are DONE (just like the shitty Yankees, 22-0 beating by Cleveland! I laughed so hard I cried...best part is Giuliani's dumb arse was just squackin at the RNC about how great the Yankees were)
Gosh I'm an a serious a-hole today (but I don't care :p )
Outlaws eXtreme 09-01-2004, 08:01 PM I'm taking LSAT classes right now... and the person teaching my class is a Prosecutor of Los Angeles. Right from the beginning, he told the class that this case was going to be dropped. With all the evidence showing that she lied... That she was in it for the money... That her ex b/f slept with her after she slept with Kobe... etc etc this case was just waiting to be ended early.
I really feel for all the REAL victims of rape because now people will have memory of this girl faking her claims towards an NBA rich millionaire.
If you still think she is a victim, and that Kobe did to it... please read the manuscripts of the trial. It has been analyzed all over the news... evidence pouring in from all over showing that she is a liar.
Additional to the above statements...
* She went to a bar party a week AFTER the rape case, partied with some friends, told people who she was... Flashed her boobs to get free liquor... and had a rowdy good ole time. Would a rape victim really do that a week after?
* The undies she wore had DNA of another male besides Kobe's... It was one of the major evidence showing that she slept with her ex b/f after Kobe. I don't think the DA was going to win this one... how were they going to prove that it was just a coincedence that the ex b/f's seman was in her panties.
* She was a participant to American Idol competition. After she was rejected, she tried to kill herself. She told her family that she wanted to be a star. There is a letter showing this as part of the defense's evidence. This would show that she would have done anything to gain the spotlight of the world... which she did. How else to be a star quickly than to jump into the light for your 15 minutes of fame.
Btw, I don't even like Kobe. Frickin butthead took the Lakers and flushed its' chances of going to the NBA Finals for having Phil and Shaq leave. ARrrggg... Oh wells, now no distraction of court, maybe we'll see the real Kobe this year.
Outlaws eXtreme 09-01-2004, 08:03 PM He admitted that he cheated on his wife. And I agree that the Lakers are over. But I don't agree that you assume he was a rapist.
I think Kobe tore her apart, he is a POS anyway...I'm sure he did it and you know his wife knows that he did it too so that is why he bought her a half-a-million dollar diamond ring when the news story broke

RussellP 09-01-2004, 08:45 PM yeah I forgot about all the suicide and american idol stuff. Its been a long time since that info came out and they stopped talking about it. The real victim here is Kobe, as evidenced by truemagellen. Not everyone is gonna hear all the info about her lying and sleeping around. Most people just hear about a rich star who is acused of rape.
Oh yeah, the lakers will continue to kick ass.
shelleys_man_06 09-01-2004, 08:54 PM Did anyone even give a shit about the Kobe Bryant case?
mobilezen 09-01-2004, 09:25 PM Did anyone even give a shit about the Kobe Bryant case?
I didn't care too much about it but in the civil case the girl is bringing against Kobe Bryant also states that he has done this sort of thing in the past: to try to have sex with girls he just met. (quote from CNN.com article) Both sides are bad. The girl is bad cause she probably wanted tons of money to pay for school and then a new house/car, etc etc. Kobe is bad cause he is already married to a really hot wife and has kids. He is a father. Way to show your children how to be a dad. Karma police are watching.
Outlaws eXtreme 09-01-2004, 10:07 PM The DA Said..the girl quit because she has been traumatized in the last year and can't finish the case. She is a Brave, Credible young girl, and is ethically truthful. "Emotional drain."
Uhh... That's why she is still sueing him for money. Civil Case is still being tried.
I'm baffled by Kobe's statements though...
Quote
``First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colo.
I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.
I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains. I understand that the civil case against me will go forward. That part of this case will be decided by and between the parties directly involved in the incident and will no longer be a financial or emotional drain on the citizens of the state of Colorado.''
End Quote
Makes it seem like he AGREES that he violated her... She agreed not to use this statement against him in the Civil Case. Which is basically going to have Kobe pay her off to finish this ordeal.
Jrook 09-01-2004, 11:40 PM The apology is nothing just being humble thats all and I hope he doesn't give this woman any money for trying to frame him.
RussellP 09-02-2004, 12:01 AM i think prosecutors wrote that letter. Theres a legal agreement that the letter wont be used in the civil court. Ill bet it was the one condition for the prosecutors to drop the case.
Outlaws eXtreme 09-02-2004, 02:15 AM Even the head of the DA in Denver said the case was flawed from the beginning. She said that the DAs that handled the case should have known who they were representing before seeking it in the first place. The DAs today put the blame on the girl.. saying that she couldn't go on with the case, but if it did go on, he was positive he would get a conviction. Another step for that DA to cover his stupid ass.
Kobe already said he doesn't plan to give the girl any money for this... I hope he doesn't. She's a complete fake, liar, and tramp... Who in their right mind would make all this up, accuse someone of Rape, then a few hours later, have sex with another guy... then a week later flash your boobs and tell the world that you are the girl that accused Kobe. Uhhh...
wakeech 09-02-2004, 08:53 AM Kobe is bad cause he is already married to a really hot wife and has kids. He is a father. Way to show your children how to be a dad. Karma police are watching.
this only goes to prove that you always want what you don't have, even when you have everything you'll (rather stupidly) screw an ugly girl who's unbelievably desparate for attention and 'fame'.
it just brings me back to remembering all the things i used to read in sports illustrated abotu kobe, and what a nice young man everyone thought he was, what a hard worker he used to be, how humble he was on the court.... which all changed that first NBA all-star game. it basically changed him overnight after trying to show-up Micheal Jordan, even when he didn't really do all that great against him.
i dunno... i guess this is just what happens when you live in a town like LA.
