Well, I did and boy, what a bummer to get this during summer :(

Here's the story :

Sometime last month, end of July, I play volleyball on grass, I get a bad set but I try to compensate and end up missing the hit and "twisting my knee", didn't think I tore my ACL because of the way the knee bent, figured you'd hear a "pop" (so I was told).

For two weeks, I just though this would go away, so 2 weeks after, I had an MRI scheduled in Palo Alto, the next day, I find out I have an ACL tear, not a "twisted" knee :(

Today, I'm 1 week into post-surgery .. I was hoping others on the forum maybe had this operation arcroscopic surgery ACL aligraphy and miniscous replacement. Just want to hear some post-surgery experiences and how they hurt themselves, probably sports related.

Sorry about the injury -- hope you're recuperating well. That sounds so painful! If I remember my Comparative Anatomy classes, ACL stands for anterior cruceate ligament??

That sounds right bobm ... Its the ligament that helps pivot your legs; connects between the femur and the tibia.

The surgery is optional but w/ the damage to the miniscous (the stuff that provides cushion between the femur and tibia) it was imperative that I get some type of surgery done. :(

Thanks for the support ... I have so much time to read the forums now, I usually don't post much :)

wow, I'm surprised that not many ppl on the forum has torn their ACL/PCL or MCL before.

I've dislocated my knee four times in the past 13 years. Worst pain I've ever experienced. :( The most recend was in January. Each time I tear the ACL more. I'm scheduled for surgery in November, though I may wait until Spring of '05.

ouch !! MCL injury must've been extremely painfull! Wow, my friend at Cisco tore his MCL and he was out for 1 year, I believe he explained it with, "my foot went into a hole while the defender slammed into his shoulder" .. rotating his body but not the leg.

With a partial tear, does your knee swell up?

hey Alex, sorry man. if it makes you feel better, I've had ACL surgery (patellar tendon) on both my knees. It takes (honestly) about 1 1/2 years to really feel "full strength" again. PM me if you have any questions. I'm a pro on ACLs now and especially on rehab...

oh, and btw, try not to pop that vicodin too much. folks are known to get addicted.
