bassik277 04-08-2003, 06:08 PM Hey guys, i just placed a pre-order yesterday on a fully loaded 6sp Titanium RX8 at Galpin Mazda in LA, and chose Red on black leather as my interior, but now im having second thoughts between the Red on Black and the Tan on black please give your opinions as to which u guys think would look better!!
gettingan8 04-08-2003, 06:14 PM All black is not on your poll and it is what I ordered
tribal azn2 04-08-2003, 06:34 PM red/black is the only way to go
RXhusker 04-08-2003, 07:26 PM Red looks great with the Silver - Fair with the Titanium
Tan looks OK with the Titanium
Black looks best! Should be on your poll

You should head down to the Rev it up in OC next weekend. There is a titanium grey with black/tan AND a velocity red with black/red on display....at least that's what they had on display when it was up here a couple weeks ago. Seeing them in person might help you figure out which interior to get.
khoney 04-08-2003, 08:38 PM I ordered Tan, so that'd better look best :D
Renesis08 04-08-2003, 08:42 PM I'll be there on Friday. I'll take pics and post em up by Saturday.
Sabin053 04-08-2003, 09:42 PM I personally would choose black/black. I've also heard blue(inserts)/black looks awesome too....put these on the polls? I guess you only putting what you can choose from..? ;)
DonG35Miata 04-08-2003, 11:35 PM I have seen the titanium and it has a twinge of blue in it. I think the red would clash, ever so slightly. I'd go tan.

Personally if I was buying the car in Titanium Grey, I would choose the straight black interior. Obviously since that is not one of the choices you are deciding on, the black/tan would be my second choice.
TiRX8 04-09-2003, 01:30 AM Tan gives the interior a rich Italian sporty look. It looks great. :)
Brian_RX 04-09-2003, 02:38 AM i had chose the black/black interior because the black is common color for people, and i like it.
RotorGeek 04-09-2003, 10:32 AM I choose the Tan becuase the black on black is just tooo plain for me.
RotaryStalker 04-09-2003, 11:30 AM Well I'm leaning towards silver w/ red/black... The wife didn't like the red/black combo until I explained it was especially for bad girls :p
If I was going with Titanium I might lean towards the tan. I wish they had blue inserts offered... I think that would look great with titanium.
For me the decision about outside color was influenced by my age and previous colors of cars I've had. I view the titanium/silver/black as slightly more conservative colors and since I'm 39 now I wanted my car to have a more of a feeling of class than a sportier look.
I think your choice is good... If you want more of an element of sportiness with titanium then maybe red/black would portray that better. Of course seeing both in person would help in your decision more then anything.

bassik277 04-09-2003, 05:55 PM dam!! the polls dead even right now, this thread has only furthered my ambivalence!!!
RotorMotor 04-09-2003, 07:52 PM I saw the tan seats in the pre-prod they had at the Auto Show and they look fantastic! I was going to get black/black, but changed my mind....
MaRX8 04-10-2003, 12:01 PM Hmm, I ordered Red Inserts with my Titanium. I didn't care for the tan inserts they look to chocolate for me. Though it hard to really tell unless seeing them in person, and all I've seen is photo's of them. I was sold on the Red when seeing the Photoshop of the Black with Red interior someone did a while back. I was going to get Black with Red, but went with the Titanium, because I didn't know it was going to be offered, and when I saw the pictures of it. I knew I had picked the right color.
Again like a lot of people have said, if they were to offer blue or Grey. I would of choosen that.
The best way to look at it is this, if you don't like the color once you get it. Take it to a shop that does leather intertior work, and get the color you REALLY want. Shouldn't be that expensive of a job...

that means half the people have bad taste lol j/p:p
CoreDump 04-15-2003, 12:42 PM Saw t grey with tan insert in the Rev-It-Up event. Looks really good in person. You can't really judge until you see the combination in person. Red insert looks sporty but I think it clashes with t grey. T grey with tan make the car looks more grown up and give it a little more luxurious feel. I guess it really depends on what kind feel you want to get from the interior.
tallguylehigh 04-15-2003, 01:09 PM I say get the cloth seats and then buy the dark blue Recaro sport front seats. Titanium with navy accents... thats a delicious combination. :D
knihc2008 04-17-2003, 02:03 PM i'd get red/black but the problem with that color combo is that don't you get red leather on the steering wheel? that's fine and okay but i'd think a bright color like red would get dirty really easily where your hands will be the most.
Lensman 04-17-2003, 02:09 PM i'd get red/black but the problem with that color combo is that don't you get red leather on the steering wheel? that's fine and okay but i'd think a bright color like red would get dirty really easily where your hands will be the most.
That's why they invented leather cleaner.
zoom44 04-17-2003, 02:16 PM and driving gloves.

BINGO.
Leather cleaner or no leather cleaner. Leather will darken overtime.
Tan is an earth tone so as it darkens from oils from your hands, dirt, etc. it will become a darker shade of tan.
Red is going to become tan or just plain dirty looking where you grab it the most. It is a showcar color and not very practical.
And I don't feel like putting on driving gloves everytime I drive to the convience store.

Titanium RX-8 04-17-2003, 04:46 PM Red it is for me. Of course the decision is made for us in Australia. Red and black is the only leather combo for silver, titanium, black and red whilst black/black is what you get for yellow, blue and green (leather packs obviously).
I saw the red/black at the Melbourne Motor Show. Absolutely stunning.
Tinman 04-21-2003, 02:53 AM Well have to say Black/Black. Mainly for the cleaning purposes and kids. Another reason I am leaning towards the Titanium color instead of the Black. When Black is clean, IMO it is the prettiest car in the world. Keep in mind I have not had the chance to see them in person. There is some something about that Titanium making me smile. Plus I love to see the accents off the car stand out a little more.
BlueAdept 04-21-2003, 08:11 AM Hmmm.. I'm with the Black on Black people I'm afraid...
All you people above need to vote for that if you believe it looks best..
knihc2008 04-21-2003, 01:26 PM or you could make it easier on yourself and just get plain black cloth. easier to manage AND you won't have to worry about that color! less money too!:D
bassik277 04-29-2003, 01:55 PM thanks guys, i decided to stick with my original choice, the red on black interior, i feel that it suits the subtle titanium exterior the best and it gives the interior a tastefully flashy, yet easily bearable mood, and it spices it up with just enough color contrast.
