april 11th is the date for the o.c. revitup, so maybe they r letting rx8 test drives at the revitup?

well i just called my dealer, i told them about revitup and how i couldnt sign up cuz im not 18 and maybe he can just give me a pass so i can go and just check out the rx8. he told me that his manager had signed me up already and that i should be getting a email about it. he said that they would let test drives.

still i wonder if they had signed me up why the hell didnt they call me? and i still havnt gotten the email.

I understand that the 4/11 date is by dealer invitation only.
Rev it up events for the public are Saturday and Sunday 4/12 &
4/13. Ill see you there on friday.

my bad, april 12-13 is the rev itup. maybe 11th is dealer invitation only?

btw i still havnt gotten the email my dealer said he sent me. so i guess u guys should just take ur pre-orders there and say u bought a rx8 and demand a test drive?

I just got off the phone with our salesman Kin Tjandra (8:30a.m.). I told him that other people got an invite e-mail. He said that I can just take my pre-order printout/documents to El Toro marine base on Friday between 8-4 and I MIGHT be able to test drive it.

Correct, Friday is media/employee/invite day only. I'll be there at 7:00am with several guys from the SoCal7's. Although the RX-8 was to remain on static display, I think that is a very smart move to invite the pre-order customers to test drive it on uncrowded media day.

I have not heard of a pass to get you into the base or event, just a sign-in for registered participants in the competition itself. They may or may not check for your name at the gate so you may be free to roam the exhibits or drive the karts for $10.

Just spoke to my dealer on Wednseday. The only car we will be allowed to drive in the "Rev It Up" event is the Mazda6. She said they would have an RX-8 for display ONLY; it will not be available for test drives. :(

She did end with the following, though: "...unless something changes in the meantime." So, I guess there is still hope.

BTW, the St Louis "Rev It Up" event is not until June. I would think (hope) that 1st allocation cars would be rolling onto the lots by then.

Yeah, my dealer just sent me an email saying that the RX-8 test drive is still being determined. At least we get in for free! :) Also, he faxed me an invitation which I have to bring on Friday.

I just got pulled into a "big" meeting Friday afternoon that I can not miss. No test Drive for me. I'm still going down on Saturday to the Rev-It-Up just to check out the Titanium/Tan combo I ordered. I have only seen the red/red in person.

"Attendance is limited and we expect Saturday and Sunday to be completely sold out. HOWEVER, WE'VE ADDED AN EXTRA DAY FOR VIP CUSTOMERS JUST LIKE YOU AND WE'RE PICKING UP THE COST OF ADMISSION. Please join us on Friday, April11th at El Toro to experience Mazda Rev It Up. You'll be able to participate in the professional driving school and skills clinics. Then you'll buckle in behind the wheel of an all-new MAZDA6 sports sedan for timed hot lap or two. You'll also be able to drive other great Mazda products on customized road courses and view some of the latest Mazda products, including a special sneak preview of the all-new rotary powered Mazda RX-8!"

I'm dealing with the same Mazda dealer as you are, and I find it frustrating that they did not send out this invitation letter that you quoted. Who was it intended for if not the pre-order customers? Do you know who they did send it to? I never received any sort of email or call from my salesman (he's a different guy than your salesman) regarding the Rev It Up event. If I had known that I could've attended this special "VIP" day on Friday, I would've arranged to take a day off of work, but now it's too late for me to do so. :mad:

they didnt email, call, or send me anything. infact they havnt updated me ever since my preorder back in january.

i called my guy to ask if they could give me a pass to just go and check out the rx8 because im not 18 so cant sign up for revitup. he tells me that they already signed me up for this vip day. so i drove to the dealer and picked up the letter.

call ur salesman, he prolly signed u up also.

I did read your whole thread, so I know that you were the one who had to take the initiative to call your salesguy and ask him about it -- but that just emphasizes my point! If they signed you or me or any of us up, why haven't they notified any of us? Are we supposed to have ESP or something?!

Btw, I'm not ranting at you Tribal, I just find the whole lack of information from our dealers rather frustrating (as do many others here!) :(

So.........those of you able to attend, were you able to drive the RX-8 ?

Just got back. I'll post pics shortly, but no track time for the RX-8. However after hours after the venue is closed is another story altogether. Had a complete BLAST! No crowds on media day, and spent most of my time flogging the Miata at the Mazda drive-test course. The MSProtege is pretty damn nice, also.

i just got back. no test drives for rx8. will have a write up shortly

tibal azn2... I got the same letter mailed from my dealer 2.5 weeks ago. I don't think they are going to let anyone test drive the 8. If they didn't do it for today being media day, I doubt they would let the general public drive it. At least I got to see my Titanium. Man I can't wait.
