I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of information is relayed to the thin Red LCD display that sits above the head unit in the RX-8.

I sat in a Mazda 6 and noticed it said "Hello" when the engine was started and that it gave the time and temperature.

It'd be great if it displayed CDText, or title/track information from the MP3 unit. The Pioneer I have in my car now does CDText and "RT" Radio Text (eg: Call the 99x request line at: 404.555.1212, etc...). Even the Explorer I have shows the radio call-signs and filters by genre (jazz, rock, talk, etc...).

I really wish they had more specific information (concerning the electronics) - most of the info I find is speculative at best.

Take a closer look at one in a Mazda 6, as it should be very similar to what will come in the RX8.

Yeah they are almost identical. The RX-8 one says Hello Mazda RX-8 The rest is pretty much the same as the Mazda 6

yes but i don't know if it is standard. have asked and mazdausa said we're not getting it at all. :confused:
