I just called for my 7500 service and was quoted $235...does that sound reasonable? I nearly dropped dead when I heard that.

That is too steep for oil change and inspection. Take it to an independent.

Did you ask them what they plan on doing for $235? Much more than what's in the owner's manual for that much I hope?

They said, change oil/filter, check brakes, check fuel mixture/fuel system/electronic gizmo something, check muffler system, check fluids, rotate tires. I think that's it.

My dealer is doing all this for free the first time (7500) They said they charge something like 45 bucks to do what you listed

When I was doing a search on RX8's before I bought one, I found that they did a survey of mazda dealers in Canada and the service prices were all over the place.Tell the dealer you are going to complaindirect to mazda about it. Thye indicated in this survey that the price dropped after mentioning this.

I'm going for my 7,500 service tomorrow. They are doing exactly what you quoted above for around $70.

Still ... a lot for essentially an oil/filter change and tire rotation.

I've already done two tire rotations and oil/filter changes myself every 2,500 miles.

Why am I  going to the dealer tomorrow?

Cheers,
Oranje

NO! My dealership charged me $165 for everything after tax. It shouldn't be that expensive. Plus they have discounts that they should let you know.

Geez, mine did it for $23 :D. And yes I told them that it was a 7500 mile inspection, and they did a fluid change, the new trans fluid made the transmission much smoother.

I just did my 7500 service, and all I paid was 29.99 + tax for this service, My oil change is free they gave free oilchanges for the life of the car, but the other service was only 30 bucks.... and he told me I didn't need it, but that he recommended I did it, of course I'm a sucker and went ahead and did it.... more for peace of mind than anything else....

Two weeks after purchasing mine, I recieved a coupon in the mail from the Dealer, Change Oil per specifications, Install a genuine Mazda Oil Filter, Top off vital fluids, perform a thorough Mazda Full Circle Service Inspection, $26.95 next to it, another coupon "Lifetime Oil Change"
$210.95 which can be signed over if you sell the car. I also found these coupons at www.mazda.usa when you register for my Mazda, my specific dealer them.

If the do the work that's listed $165 is too high not to mention $235!

Damn, are you serious?! 7500 was my second service. I had it serviced at 3000 at first and I had freebies during that service.

WTF, I just got pwned by the Dealership. Is there a Dealership in the Bay Area doing this for cheap?

Didn't anyone get the free Service? No charge for 4 years or 50K? It's a good thing to have!
