Anyone has info on turbo 13B miatas?? I know they exist but haven't found any info in them. Imagine a turbo Renesis Miata!! Drooool!! :D

Drooool!! :D The problem with that is that the engine mounts are soo different and awkward to make for the Miata that it's actually much much easier to put the V8 in there. There are a couple of people who offer V8 kits, making it even easier (but you got a lotta weight up front then, and you ruin the feel of the car). By the time you go through all the effort and expense for a turbo 13B, you can put a blown V8 or even a built turbo 4 in there that will offer the same performance.

I have seen pics of one 13b miata, but it required massive custom fabrication like Sputnik mentioned. Cool non the less.

Well, I think the V8 would offset the weight distribution too much compared to the wankel plus remember the saying: "no rotor no motor" :p

A local performance shop built a 20B 3 rotor turbo miata WOW it's HOTTT. It's for racing only, I think it's in the 8's for the quarter mile.

that turbo 20B would be just as heavy and large as a 302 with nitrous, which (in full race tune) would also motivate the mosquito of a Miata down the 1320 in 8... there are options, but yes, wankels are really really wicked. :)

a miata with a N/A 13B would be pretty nice. with the 13B's willingness to rev, the miata would be even happier than it is now.

and Wakeech is correct about turbo miatas being as quick as some V8 conversions, while maintaining its balance.

obviously, i have a Miata too, so i have been doing my research about FI on my car. i am waiting for the Flyin Miata twin screw supercharger, before making a decision. you guys should check out their site...their videos for their OTC miata are fun to watch.

i don't think a V8 miata is better than a turboed one, or vice versa. it is just a matter of preference. the driving characteristics will be different, not just in handling, but where the power is obviously.

it is kind of like the whole torque/no torque discussion on the RX8. it just depends on what you are looking for. personally, i have driven V8s and small displacement engines, and my pereference is to the high-rev engines. now, if someone swapped a Ferrari V8 in the Miata, that would be cool. high-revving and torque. just pipe dreams though.

*shrug* it's the new Cobra. s'cool.

anyways, no one here said it ruined the handling (obviously it's no muscle car), but that it does effect it, and change the feel of the car in many ways. the heavily biased weight distribution and the dynamic effects of V8 acceleration aren't necessarily a detriment, but something extremely different from the origional Miata.

...i still like the idea of a turbo 4 or BP 13B better ;)
