Just wanted to find out how many people in Calgary have put a deposit for the RX-8? I have!!!!!!

 

I've put my deposit down but.......I'm an Edmontonian. :D :D

im from alberta, hoping to get my hands on one of the RX-8 within the next 2 years..

 

I called North Hill Mazda to ask about the RX8, and the Sales guy was incredibly rude and patronizing - a complete dick if you want my honest opinion. Maybe they are getting tired of people asking them questions about the RX8 all the time. He also quoted me a price that was about 5K more than the MSRP on mazda.ca. Have you guys had any better experiences at other Mazda dealerships in Calgary? North Hill's location is good for me, but I am not too keen to give them my business.

 

What was the name of the sales guy you spoke to? I placed my order with one of their sales guys back in February for MSRP, and have chatted with their Sales Manager on occasion since then. The reason I went with them was only that they promised at the time that they'd still be able to get me a car in the first allocation, whereas Kramer Mazda (I know their Sales Manager as well) indicated that the' already had way more orders/deposits than the number of cars they expected. I've not dealt with Sunridge lately...

The sales person I spoke to had an accent - I couldn't place where from over the phone, but his english was fine. I can't recall his name. I imagine that the North Hill guy did not take me to be a serious buyer when he spoke to me on the phone, so that is probably why he was rude. I'm glad to hear that you had a positive experience with North Hill, because it is probably the most conveinent location for me. I think I'm too late for a first allocation, but I can wait. If you wouldn't mind posting or sending me a private message with the name of the guy you deal with I would appreciate it.

 

The salesman I dealt with is Ken Nhan. He's OK, but not a car enthusiast... then again, most car salesmen aren't by my standards!

We'll see how North Hill works out - I bought my 96 Miata from them, but none of the Sales staff are the same now. I helped my father (from Manitoba) buy a 2000 Miata from them because we got a great price, and Ken was there at that time, but I dealt with Riaz, the Sales Manager. I've never taken my Miata to them for service, so I don't know how they are in that regard.

I've heard that RX-7 Specialties has also ordered one. I believe they want to investigate modification possibilities ofr all you guys...

 

Whoever's getting the RX-8 in Calgary, you should bring your cars along to an RX-7 meet here in town. I try to attend all the meetings, and I would like to see the RX-8 parked beside our 7's! It would make a great photo!

They have been taking orders/deposits for the longest time...............but this is where it gets F^&*ed up. They have known for quite some time that they will only be recieving 2 RX-8's at that dealership this year, the other 15 or so that have put a deposit, well............TOUGH LUCK. But check this out.........the sales people are still instructed to take orders and deposits, now how screwed is that!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a deposit at NORTHHILL MAZDA, but after talking and getting the news from that guy at SUNRIDGE MAZDA..........plus all the other threads talking about no communication ETC..........

 

I just spoke with my salesman at North Hill this morning - they're aware that the shipment is in port.

They show only 2 RX-8s in "inventory" (ie in port, allocated to them) - a Blue GT and a Black GT. That would fit with your source saying each dealer is only getting two cars... but he still told me that they expect quite a few more, and that I should still be getting a car in the next month (I'm #5 at North Hill)... we'll see!

I don't know why the other Canadian buyers aren't all on the phone to their dealers to find out their stories!!!!

hey Gord, so they are getting a blue and a black RX8. they aren't gonna be one of mine..............So you're #5 on the list, well either the blue or black isn't mine so i guess that leaves me at the #3 spot since Riaz had me at #1 or 2 at Northhill. Man, i just hope we get our cars soon..................See you around!!!!!! :D

 

Well I ordered mine at Kramer and I still haven't heard anything. I'm supposedly #9 or #10 on "the list".

It would really **** me off if the dealers knew they were only getting 2 cars each (grrrrr!)

 

I just spoke with North Hill again - It seems that they only have 1 additional car from the second shipment that arrived in port last week - so the current total for North Hill is 3 cars, made up of 1 Blue and 2 Black. They expect them in within 2 weeks, and then they will start going through their deposit list in order to see who wants those cars.

i asked the salesman on one of the dealer ( the one close to downtown on center street)
and he told me...JUST LAST WEEK
that he is expecting 10 RX-8 w/ 1 black one for display only! liar!

 

Yes, that's North Hill Mazda.

I'm not sure how you figure they're lying - between the first and second boats (already in port) they're getting 3 cars, out of a total shipment of about 250 RX-8s so far. That says nothing about how many cars they'll get from the third, fourth, fifth, etc. boats until the entire Canadian allocation of 700 RX-8s has been delivered. 10 cars in total (not just the 3 to date) could be entirely likely.

Kramer has informed me that they are to receive 12 cars. I guess we can only wait and see.

 

I was at Kramer about 4 weeks ago, and bumped into exactly 1 auto black RX-8. The only other one was the owner's (blue).

No test drives allowed for the car there (I think it was pre-purchased but I have to wonder). $1000 down to preorder (didn't ask if it was refundable), in order to get a test drive in the owner's car.

I have to admit that the salesman was quite good and let my friend and I poke around inside the car/hood. But we showed up in a car worth more than the 8.

Anyway, does anyone have comments on the Mazda dealerships in Calgary? Kramer was my first experience.
