Good info on Brake Fluids...

Be careful with those brake fluid choices.......
The 'blue' fluids are for racing, look good on a spec sheet, but may not have the corrosion inhibitor package of a 'long life' type. That's why they are blue....dyed so you can tell the difference.
Any sign of blue in the reservoir is an automatic warranty denial for brake failure.
You will also notice that NONE of the 'blues' have the DOT3 approval (it may say 'exceeds all legal requirements' etc..... but no approval is still a crapshoot)
Another automatic denial in case of failure - you may be OK with that, but if you do any driving on the street, how does your insurance company feel?
I would look for a quality DOT4 fluid, like Valvoline Synpower. State of the art specs, with full approvals.
Bottom line- if it's blue, it's not for the street, not DOT legal, and not up to the specs in the manual.

BMW uses it on their cars, and a few of my friends use it on their Porches and have never had any problems... ATE Type 200 is the same stuff and it's not blue... It is formulated the same as many others; you can use it without any problems...
Confused i purchased vavoline heavy duty brake fluid for disc brakes drum brakes and clutch systems .
SAE JI 703 - FMVSS STANDARD NO .116 DOT3 WHICH IS RECOMMENDED IN OUR RX8 MANUAL FOR THE AUSTRALIAN CARS
reading the fine print it also says .... Not recommended for ABS systems ????
Can anyone explain whats going on .

I was at Rotary Reliability & Racing aka Fast Freddy's and they recommended I go with Motul. They swear by it on their race car (and I now see why) but that doesn't sound like a solid choice for my street car....that will never see the track.
