It seems that after all I might not be getting an RX-8. Which is unfortunate, but I wanna not live with my parents more than I want a new car, so here we are. So, in this dilema, my mind has been a flutter of ideas for possible cars I might want. The list will stupify you.

Then I realized that I might like a convertible, and I still like the rotary, which then led me to the 2nd gen RX-7 convertible. Does anyone have any information on these cars and pics of the interiors and what have you.

Please do not recommend me to www.rx7club.com, I've already been and the amount of information quickly caused overload. I am wondering, is the 2nd gen a good deal?

I worry about the 3rd gen because theres no convertible and they have had a reputation of reliability problems and getting thrashed.

Any help you could give would me greatly appreciated.

My buddy has a 89 vert. He has 287k on original engine. Runs good.

an unbelievable one. it's got the go of most present day "sports coupes" (like FWD sporty cars) with better cornering ability, and the RX-7 FC 'Vert is still regarded as a very comfortable ride... the windblocker design is suppost to be excellent (never experienced it).

the synchros on a car +12 years old will be beat to crap, but shouldn't be a problem if you're just getting this car as a pleasure-driver, not pushing it to 10/10ths all the time.

because of the youth demand in the used car market for Hondas (mostly) in the "performance" side of things, you could probably get an FC 'Vert in pretty good shape for like $10k canadian.

also, www.fc3s.org is the best pure FC site i've seen yet, and they have guys who can stop and talk to you (if you mail in and contact them).

because the S5 13B is turbo-less, and convertibles are usually driven less hard than their sportier hard-top counterparts, the engines are pretty much bullet-proof with some SIMPLE (and i'm talkin' bubble gum and bent paperclip simple) modifications to fix any minor hiccups... it only gets 18mpg no matter how hard you try to baby it, but it'll last. :)
