View Full Version : A new bulletin board for Christians
shaitiger 08-11-2004, 11:51 PM Go ahead and give it a try. I've been wanting to start a Christian based bulletin board where believers can discuss topics regarding our faith and other things as well. My intentions are not to take traffic away from RX-8Club but to offer the members another source of information. You can find this site at www.forgivendriven.com. It is still in the beginning stages and I still have a lot to do. That doesn't mean we can't get some discussions going. Thanks
whosyourbaba 08-12-2004, 12:10 AM pretty cool site. great idea.
guy321 08-12-2004, 07:07 AM Im not Christian. Sorry.
Just joking, I'll check it out anyway, even though I'm not Christian. :)
I do like to learn.
Great idea!! I love it!
One suggestion, could you add a topic on Eschatology, which is, as I'm sure you know, the study of Bible prophecy and the end times. There is a lot going on in the world right now that has been foretold, and what I've seen there's a lot of interest in the subject. The "Left Behind" books have been top sellers.
Once again, great site. Thanks!
mpt_yellowRX8 08-12-2004, 08:52 AM You may also want to take the street racing out of the horsepower section!
shaitiger 08-19-2004, 06:13 PM You may also want to take the street racing out of the horsepower section!
LOL, I'm still debating on that :D .
TTT
mobilezen 08-19-2004, 09:01 PM ...wow so contreversial. :)
not christian either
Tony Orlando 08-19-2004, 09:04 PM Not a big church guy, but more power to ya for doing what you believe in.
And people think that flame wars about cars are bad......
canaryrx8 08-20-2004, 07:10 AM Dang that's pretty sweet, takes a lot guts to affirm your faith nowadays as it's so much easier to blow it all off. good job, lookin' forward to being a member.
shaitiger 11-15-2004, 05:49 PM Uppitty up. My buddy and I just started Christian World Fellowship. Check it out. All the info is on my website. Here is a link.
Christian World Fellowship (http://www.forgivendriven.com/forumdisplay.php?f=72)
rx8wannahave 11-15-2004, 09:06 PM shaitiger,
Great job...I"ll go check it out. I hope alot of people get involved in it.
T RX 8 11-15-2004, 09:13 PM count me in! Hey shaitiger I'm in Hoffman Estates. what church you go to?
Tayninh 11-15-2004, 09:22 PM This looks like a cool site. Are you using the title from Purpose Driven Life and Purpose Driven Church? Just wondering. I am not a fan however of Rick Warren. The PDL book is a good one but they are some misquotes, out of context issues and other things. However the book does have some real good points in it. I think I will join.
shaitiger 09-13-2005, 01:54 PM The site has been up for over a year now and I would like to say thanks to those who jumped on and checked out the site. God Bless!!!
truemagellen 09-13-2005, 02:03 PM "10. Do not start threads on religion or politics in the Lounge area or anywhere else. Experience with the forum has proven that political or religious discussions inevitably become flamefests, which are prohibited (see the first rule above). So don't start them."

rx8wannahave 09-13-2005, 02:13 PM So far so good...this is a OLD thread anyway, a little slow True...lol.
By the way...make sure you police the "political" stuff to...you mod wanabe...lol :p
abbid 09-13-2005, 02:18 PM Uh oh....
Cattywampus 09-13-2005, 02:29 PM I just have one question. Why is such a bad thing to live with a person of the opposite sex before getting married? I dont want this to turn into an argument about Christian faith. I live with my fiance and we are not married. I know it's a type of faith but what is the big problem?

no problem at all...enjoy it and live happily ever after...in relationships of true love the act of Marriage is simply to satisfy others (relatives, friends, the government, etc.)...there is no reason you should have to comply
(granted I'm Jewish, but hey my father's a reverend:p)

This isn't a thread about religion or politics, it's just a pointer to a site where religion can be discussed. I don't see any problem with it.
p.s. That's a freaky picture! Where was that particular Amorphophallus titanum?

I dont simplify myself with one type of church. I am Christian however but I go to whatever church I feel comfortable with. Some church goers are too weird for me. Just a tad too into themselves. Was just wondering. Thanks :)

I was joking around...as for that picture...I meant axe the thread but tried to find the goofiest pic I could to show I was kidding :p
I have No idea what that pic is from :D
rx8wannahave 09-13-2005, 04:07 PM Police...you ask for an opinion on something (a Christian opinion) and you listen to TrueM?
He even said it himself, lol...
Feel free to PM me for more but I'll say that if your not supposed to be having sex before marriage it's not the best choice to live with someone you love and are attracted to. We are weak...and should avoid temptation.
I don't know if you are or are not...but that’s at least one reason.
TrueM...last time I read the Old Testament, Jews should not be fornicating either so the same rule applies.
THIS IS NOT a judgment on anyone, this is a "reason" why it's not a good idea to live together before marriage.
Last note, Police I’m a member of a Baptist church but I grew up in no ONE church. I’m nothing (not Catholic, Baptist, SDA, etc) but a CHRISTIAN…nothing else. So, it’s OK to find a good church with good people but don’t fall into the trap of looking for a perfect church with perfect people…that does not exist. Just an FYI…
truemagellen 09-13-2005, 04:14 PM TrueM...last time I read the Old Testament, Jews should not be fornicating either so the same rule applies.

hey baby u wannahave some good fornication in the back seat of my rx8 ;) http://tinypic.com/do5nbs.gif

Isn't that the truth. I associate with very good people. Not necessarily church goers but good honest people.
Moostafa29 09-13-2005, 07:31 PM Wow, I never heard about this before. I will have to check it out. Great idea though!

Just curious and too lazy to check your site (yet), but is this a board for all Christians? Reason I ask - some folks go beserk when I say that a Christian can reconcile his faith with (gasp!) evolution.
rx8wannahave 09-13-2005, 09:50 PM Come and share your thoughts...some might agree some might disagree, if everyone just respects each other then no one leaves the place in a fight. It's OK to disagree...

I got banned from the christian site after a whoping 2 posts!!!!!!!!!!!! They were not even inflammatory...f_ck that website
here are my 'aweful posts':
[in reference to the consumption of alcohol:]
Do you not eat meat too?
also doesn't anyone find it odd that the banana smiley is humping the air on a Christian website? http://forum.fbody.us/images/smilies/yay.gif
and the other one after thinking about it for a bit might not be ok on THIS forum so I'll not post it...it referred to scientology where I was agreeing with the forum members over there!.
Aratinga 09-13-2005, 11:59 PM p.s. That's a freaky picture! Where was that particular Amorphophallus titanum?
The first thing I thought when I saw that, assuming it wasn't photochopped, was that the dude behind the Amorphophallus must have NO sense of smell! Or do they only start giving off the rotting flesh odor when the petals open?

klegg 09-14-2005, 06:41 AM All of my bulletin board threads got deleted! I guess they all got wished into the corn field.
But thank goodness this one is still here.
Anyone like creamed corn?

Did you get banned permanently? Be mature about it and I don't think anyone would have a problem with your comments as long as you’re not there to antagonize or insult our faith.
With that said, I hope it was more of a warning than anything else because I don’t think your comments were that bad at all.
That's my .02...again, you can disagree with us but being an ass about it is up to you…and us too. People just can’t talk anymore without throwing around insults or being ULTRA sensitive.
Paul in DC, about your comment…just a few more things…
We really can’t use the Bible to say that evolution is not possible since the Bible does not speak about animals not being able to adapt. This is where the problems come:
(1) Saying man evolved from a monkey (The Bible states specifically that GOD made man in his image from the earth and blew the breath of life into him)
(2) Saying animals evolved into existence (The Bible states specifically that GOD made the animals…each after it’s kind, so at LEAST those first animals came to be by GOD’s hand and not evolution)
Now, have animals evolved over time (adapted to their environment) after they were originally created? That’s something we can’t argue with really (just give our opinion) because nothing in the Bible states animals “can’t” evolve but nothing states they can evolve either.
The Bible does state that GOD provides for animals (like he provides everything for us) so why would animals have to evolve into new types of animals if GOD was feeding them by his power? But, maybe GOD (while being the sustaining force of everything in the universe) is that spark that causes an animal to change into something different because the conditions warrant it. GOD is sovereign and trust me when I say that we only know what is necessary at this time, when the time comes GOD’s word tells us that ALL things will be revealed. It tells us that our imagination can’t even fathom those things that await us.
So, we can go around in circles talking about all sorts of stuff that frankly there is no way of confirming 100%...just speaking from opinion. One thing that we do sometimes (everyone) is proclaim what "appears" to be as "what is". When you study the details...alot of the stuff we argue about has no 100% certainty...one way or the other. Some things we can argue alot better...but evolution (without 1 & 2) is not one of them.
There are a lot of maybe’s here but while we can agree to disagree, if a Christian believes that the Bible is the infallible (I do) word of GOD then he/she can not reconcile the teachings (of 1 & 2) with GOD’s word.
So, those who believe in evolution in the 1 & 2 form can not reconcile it with GOD’s word so of course the Christians who believe GOD’s word is infallible will not be able to agree with you. But, that still Leaves the door open to “adaptation/evolution” of animals since there is no Biblical explanation (details) regarding animals changing over time.
I hope that explained a bit more where and why we would disagree while leaving the door open to at least acknowledge the possibility that GOD made the animals (after their first types) with the ability to adapt to their environment which could lead to drastic changes in the animals.
Some Christians have science phobia and some scientist refuse to believe anything they can’t test or acknowledge they are proclaiming what appears as a fact. That’s the sad state…and that’s why the arguments can get ugly sometimes.
Mod’s…please don’t delete this post or close this thread. My response above is not to force anyone to agree but to explain to a fellow rx8club member the common problem when talking about evolution with a Christian. I was going to PM this to Paul in DC but I thought it would be valuable to the other members who believe in evolution (in all forms) so that they are aware where our discussion/arguments hit a brick wall (in regards to evolution’s compatibility with what is written in the Bible) with "most" Christians.
I hope this was OK…

This post effectively turned a relatively mundane thread into a religious thread...thank goodness it was by a Christian, as it doesn't make us non-christians look so bad
Mods....u could delete this post or close the thread but we were doing a good job of keeping things neutral...so removing the 'evolution discussion' in the last post should keep things clean
sorry RX8wannahave...I'll discuss things on that other board though as long as my IP is unbanned
rx8wannahave 09-14-2005, 08:57 AM TrueM...your whole statement was a sad one...too bad...
klegg 09-14-2005, 09:22 AM I do not want to seem like I am speaking for the above, but the comment is not aimed at you. More about the fact this thread is still here.
Photic 09-14-2005, 09:31 AM The first thing I thought when I saw that, assuming it wasn't photochopped, was that the dude behind the Amorphophallus must have NO sense of smell! Or do they only start giving off the rotting flesh odor when the petals open?
Yeah they only smell terrible once they open. Saw a thing on it on discovery..
Regarding the thread.
Why on earth do I open these things? The more I read the more I want to eat a bullet with my forehead.
truemagellen 09-14-2005, 09:40 AM TrueM...your whole statement was a sad one...too bad...
yea I'm not upset at you bud...remember I'm all for religion and politics in this forum but to keep this thread from being closed I made a recomendation based on content not on you...in fact let me make it clear
I do not feel you should be banned for your posting, period.
Deslock 09-14-2005, 09:48 AM This isn't a thread about religion or politics, it's just a pointer to a site where religion can be discussed. I don't see any problem with it.
I don't have a problem with this thread either (who in their right-mind would?). And I'm not trying to start trouble, but it's worth pointing out that some of the "political" threads that have been locked (or "hidden") contained nothing but a pointer to (and/or quote from) another site that had a commentary/editorial. In that context, I would say this is a religious thread and technically it could be considered against forum policy.
Personally, I don't mind just about any thread being allowed to continue (I haven't seen a thread yet at rx8club that I thought warranted being locked, let alone hidden).
*shrug*
rx8wannahave 09-14-2005, 09:59 AM Fair enough...I've said what I thought would help someone like Paul in DC understand the "why" sometimes we can't talk about this type of stuff. I won't say anything more...

Without going into painful detail, I think it should suffice to point out that most Christians are not Biblical Literalists. Most mainline denominations maintain that evolutionary biology is does not conflict with their teachings. I understand and respect your views. Please understand and respect the views of those whose interpretation of Genesis differs.
truemagellen 09-14-2005, 10:17 AM here we go :D
Paul_in_DC 09-14-2005, 10:40 AM here we go :D
Does that mean we have a go / no-go decision coming up? :D
(Sorry - proposal writing is affecting my brain.)
rx8wannahave 09-14-2005, 11:31 AM No...here we don't go, I read what he said and I'll say nothing more about it "HERE" at least. Done!
truemagellen 09-14-2005, 11:33 AM woopee I was unbanned at forgivendrvn...I see paulindc has posted his questioning there and now rx8wannahave feel free to respond, I'll be happy to watch from the sidelines or throw in some brilliant wisdom of course ;)
Paul_in_DC 09-14-2005, 11:34 AM We have achieved peace in our time.
... for the moment, anyway. :D
Aratinga 09-14-2005, 11:35 AM To get the thread back on track....
I'm not a Christian, but a dear friend and colleague of mine is -- and he has a wonderful website that I'm sure all Christians can appreciate and learn from:
http://www.swordandspirit.com/
(And he does it all with a Mac, too. :))
rx8wannahave 09-14-2005, 11:35 AM :)
rx8wannahave 09-14-2005, 11:36 AM Aratinga...I'll have to go check it out, thanks!

truemagellen 09-14-2005, 01:40 PM Are Jews welcome? If so, I might come there as long as y'all don't say I'm going to hell.

I think maybe my username was the cause but who knows :D (username is something else than this one)
klegg 09-14-2005, 02:05 PM Are Jews welcome? If so, I might come there as long as y'all don't say I'm going to hell.
Nope, going to hell. But when we get there I will still be your friend. We can be placed next to each other on the ninth plane.
Why is this thread still here?
rx8wannahave 09-14-2005, 02:09 PM Are Jews welcome? If so, I might come there as long as y'all don't say I'm going to hell.
Come on by Stew...your welcome! If we all remember not to be so sensative and make sure we respect each other, then we can talk about anything. PERIOD!
Just remember...no one is perfect, so don't expect it...keep that in mind and everything will be OK.
StewC625 09-14-2005, 02:39 PM Then I may just have to join it under the name "StewTheJew" LOL
truemagellen 09-14-2005, 02:40 PM Just remember...no one is perfect

I'm a home brewer by hobby and even have a way cool neon "Stew's Brew" sign to go with the hobby.
I'm thinkin' a new line of product here!
Re RXwanna ... and "nobody's perfect" ... no problemo, amigo, as long as the members of that board recognize the fact that I've been down both paths and chose the one that was blazed 5700 years ago ... :)
Paul_in_DC 09-14-2005, 11:17 PM Then I may just have to join it under the name "StewTheJew" LOL
I've heard of stewed prunes, but "StewTheJew" ?!? Eew...
Blaaz 09-15-2005, 11:27 AM At first I thought the sign said Steve's brew.
shaitiger 09-15-2005, 06:01 PM All I did was say thanks to those who visited the board as well as those who actually became a member and acted respectfully. It's pretty simple. My site has rules just like this one does. Being a part of a site like mine and RX8club is a priviledge, not a right.
Every person that got banned from my site in the past deserved everything they had coming. It's common sense, you don't join a vegetarian website with MeatLover as a screen name and a cow for an avatar. Something like this is blatantly disrespectful and rude. I have 0 tolerance for folks that join for the mere purpose of causing drama. We all refer to these folks as "trolls".
If you are curious about the Christian faith I encourage you to ask questions. A little bit of respect can go a long ways. There are obviously a lot of misconceptions of Christianity and hopefully my site can clear some of those up. If you don't care, well, then you don't care and I respect that. Thanks guys!!
RXMAN16 09-15-2005, 06:36 PM this thread is hilarious
