I notice that (one) of the things the M-Flash is supposed to fix is the hard (impossible ability) to start the rotary if the engine that is turned off before reaching a good operating temperature. For those of you with the M-flash, how well is this working now ???

My old 81 rx-7 had the same problem, would always start when cold, but once the choke kick off (prematurely) the dam engine would not start again until the engine was cold again. Mazda never did figure out the ‘M-flash’ solution as long as I owned my car. Guess they know now… but the choke is no longer manual just some computer chip??

thanks for any feedback!!!! :D

No starting problems before or after "M" flash. :D As an RX 2 owner I already knew to warm up motor.

Built with M (April '04)
20xx miles since I took ownership (6/30/04) and never a problem, even in the first few days when I stalled a few times because of inexperience with a manual or running to the store.

I guess the real test is the winter.

2 major floods for me on my 1 year old car. After M-flash there have been no problems, but like marcj1 says, the winter will be the test.

never had a problem before or after the mflash, and I've never driven the car any differently from any other.

I've never had the car flood on me but the body shop managed to do it even with the M flash. As far as I can tell it looks like they started the car, drove it 50', and immediately shut it off. Then it sat for several days. So it doesn't really surprise me that it flooded and I even explicitly warned them about it. Hmmm... what do I know about my car?

It took about 5 minutes to get the car started using the "de-flood procedure" and a little spirited driving over the last week has cleaned up the plugs. I also changed the oil because it smelled like gas.

The only Flooding issues I have had is on my 88 convertable RX7. Sometimes the 79 would do the same, but they were easy to fix. Need to get a rebuild for my 88 though Damn that Atikins Rotary rebuild
