View Full Version : Confirmation pack!
lurcher 03-27-2003, 04:26 AM Arrived this morning. Anyone else?
Not much to it really, a pic of the car in the colour you've chosen, your list of options, order number (RX8-200867 - does that mean my "EP number" is 867?) and your login details for the web site.
Nice to have something on paper at last, the web site wasn't a complete black hole after all. :)
morganrogers 03-27-2003, 05:07 AM Not yet ......
MarkW 03-27-2003, 05:58 AM Nothing yet either...but I always leave before the post.
At least this is positive news that things are happening.
ramsayn 03-27-2003, 02:31 PM Got mine too.
I know it's better than silence. But is anybody else feeling just a little disappointed.
Even a proper brochure would have been something to drool over.
Oh well, maybe now we will get something every month.
oilman 03-27-2003, 02:59 PM Nothing yet from my owl!!
Cheers
OILMAN
Lensman 03-28-2003, 03:20 AM Yep, mine arrived. Still in blue though despite my change to tit. Doesn't actually get me anywhere because I had access to the website anyway but at least I have a receipt for my £1000. Mazda claim they will send more out on a monthly basis. Hmmm....
Post arrives after I leave but nothing as per yesterday. I think it would just be nice to see your car on order and some sort of recognition by Mazda.
I will be pushing for freebies later!
rael
MarkW 03-28-2003, 11:52 AM I dont think I'll be getting my welcome pack yet....had a call from Mazda this afternoon saying there has been a 'glitch' with my order process, which is why I havent had any confirmation yet.
They need to confirm my details which will then release a confirmation email to me.
Once Ive had this email I will be getting my welcome pack "once Mazda have received payment from my dealer". I paid my dealer 2 months ago so I dont see why this is a problem.
I have however been assured this has not affected or delayed my order, but Im a bit sceptical.
Good job these people dont work in a brewery......
Titanium Grey 03-28-2003, 01:10 PM Website order status changed to 'accepted' yesterday, but nothing in the post today.
I'll give it a couple more days.
Simon 03-28-2003, 02:16 PM Well, I have received a very poor quality photocopy of a printout of a web page with my order details, together with an equally grotty photocopy of a six-page contract for me to sign and return. All beautifully presented in a handwritten brown envelope.
At first I thought it was a mailshot from one of the local Indian restaurants
oilman 03-28-2003, 03:48 PM :)
Status changed from "submitted" to "accepted".
:( Nothing in post today.
My owl must have one wing!

Err, and that came from Mazda themselves? Or was it from your dealer? Everything I've received from Mazda has been in one of their white "Zoom Zoom" envelopes, reasonably well-printed, and no sign of a contract either.
Simon 03-28-2003, 04:52 PM Dealer. For those that doubted it, the contract does strongly suggest that the cars will be built to order - e.g. 'Mazda will arrange to have your vehicle configured as set out in your Order and delivered to the Dealer that you have specified in your Order'.
Lensman 03-28-2003, 04:57 PM This is the same contract that is available to pre-orderers on the website. By placing an order you are bound by it's terms and conditions.
RX-Nut 03-28-2003, 05:51 PM Hmm.. Wonder if us in the US will be getting those too.. Hmmmm
morganrogers 03-29-2003, 02:58 AM I got nothing...
Phoned Mazda yesterday and they called me back assuring me that welcome packs had been sent out.
My status was only submitted when I last checked (yesterday).
Damn them all ! ! !
Update - Status now 'Accepted'
morganrogers 03-29-2003, 05:10 AM Incidently - the 'FAQ' makes pretty interesting reading.
Seems first cars will be late July.
Titanium Grey 03-30-2003, 12:49 AM I seem to remember someone telling me (might have been one of my talks with Mazda UK) the July cars are the showroom and demonstrator cars for the dealers. So customers can see the cars and have a test drive. Dealers are to recieve 2 cars, a demonsrator and a showroom car.
This was a small production run that happened before the main UK one started.
However i dont know how many cars have been ordered but i cant see all dealers getting cars.
How many Mazda dealerships are there?
How many cars will be needed to stock all their showrooms?
lurcher 03-30-2003, 07:33 PM Originally posted by Titanium Grey

Around 100 franchise dealers across the UK. If they're getting two each that's quite a few cheap ex-demonstrator cars knocking around over the next year or so. I bought my MX-5 that way, knocked a quid off the price for every mile driven, broken in and all initial bugs ironed out but probably thrashed a wee bit (no more than I have though :)
morganrogers 03-31-2003, 01:12 AM Gotta say - I would *never* buy an ex-demo....
If it works for you - then good luck , but I have known too many people in the car business and those cars are *hammered*.
No run-in , no warm-up, just plain thrashed...
Maybe I am too 'precious' about it , but I would rather pay the extra , have it new and ensure that the car is properly bedded in and cared for.
As an aside - do we know anything about the run-in schedule yet ?
Nothing received by me over the week-end. Spoke to Mazda Uk in Dartford this morning who advised that the delay was due to the high demand for the car and that confirmations are being sent out in the next few days.
I got mine confirmed over the phone just to make sure.
rael.
oilman 04-01-2003, 03:54 PM STILL NOTHING!
STARTING TO GET PI$$ED OFF NOW!
ANYONE ELSE NOT GOT THEIRS
OR AM I ALONE:(
Cheers
Oilman
A pic to cheer me up
morganrogers 04-02-2003, 01:23 AM I have nothing either.
Mazda assured me last week all had been dispatched.
I am giving them today and then I am going to get majorly stroppy.
It clearly staes on their website that you will receive confirmation pack in 7-10 days (I am sure - will double check).
Mazda - If you are reading - NOT GOOD ENOUGH !
I understand tha Mazda UK is located in Dartford to whom I spoke a couple of days back, see my above post. Nothing received since then.
rael
shahpor 04-02-2003, 02:45 AM I have also received nothing in the post.
Starting to get annoyed now.
Although my status on the web site did change from Submitted to Accepted.
Shahpor
SoulShifter 04-02-2003, 10:11 AM Probably a real newbie question, but do those of us who ordered through a dealer, get a confirmation too? and do we get access to the website to check our status?
Cheers...
oilman 04-02-2003, 02:39 PM Soulshifter,
Welcome. Unless you have an EP number, the car's not ordered.
Your Dealer also has to put the order onto the website.
If he hasn't and can't give you an EP number you may be looking at the 2nd batch of cars (october)!
You should also get a password which along with your EP number will allow you to access the pre-order website.
Good Luck
Cheers
Oilman
Titanium Grey 04-02-2003, 03:14 PM Nothing here either.
I'll wait till the end of the week.
By the way a thread in the Asia forum mentions that production line problems have caused delays on their delivery dates. Hope this does not have a knock on effect on our production run.:(
oilman 04-03-2003, 03:03 PM Spoke to Mazda pre-order hotline today to ask what's going on.
A very helpful lady greeted me and passed me to Danni. She was in the process of calling all pre-orders (but had not got to me yet) she told me that my pack would be posted and I could expect it in the next week - 1 winged pigeons I assume!
To be fair, she was helpful and did attempt to answer my questions, she also agreed that it really wasn't good enough.
I asked a number of other questions and she said she would call me back and, she did (Oilman's charm!).
I asked when and where we could expect to see a car in the Uk?
- She said that there were cars here already and they were looking into organising for us to see them. They will keep us posted!
I asked why we still had not seen colour patches?
- She apologised and admitted that it was not good enough, she mentioned that they were looking into it and would get back.
I asked if we could make changes like steering wheel etc?
- She said that they could not do this at the factory but would look into it and get back to me.
I asked about delivery dates for our cars?
- She said late july / early august:( but that Customers cars were the priority.
I also asked about commemorative gifts, possible shows where the car could be seen and accessories.
- I seemed to know more than she did but, she would get back!
I mentioned this forum and she seemed to know about it (but could not sign on so I gave her the new address) I suggested that they should look at some of the negative feedback they're getting and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
MAZDA, if you're reading, Danni WAS most polite and helpful but do yourselves a favour GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!:o
Anyone else got any news?
Cheers
Oilman;)
smiles 04-03-2003, 04:04 PM Spoke to my dealer yesterday and told him that i was getting annoyed that i had not received my pack yet. He rang Mazda and rang me back to assure me that its due to the demand and they will send the packs out next week.
They best had or i will do my small bit to help out their demand problem by cancelling my order!! I really, really want the car but am not prepared to fork out 25k to a company who cant even treat us rignt before they have our money. Imagine how poor the service could be afterwards.
The problem is that we get too emotional with regard to cars (no bad thing). Its been poor service so far and if it were any other purchase i would have walked weeks ago.
Anyone else feel the same?
Smiles:mad:
Lensman 04-04-2003, 02:27 AM I suspect that the reason Danni is ringing around the buyers is because the order database has been corrupted (the first thing she asked me was whether my details on the order DB matched those of my order. They didn't because I'd updated the colour in the customer DB. Therefore the customer DB and the order DB aren't in synch). If this is so then they won't send out the packs until they've checked the DB details of addresses etc. It's all a bit mysterious but something bad has definitely happened and they're trying to correct it in as stealthy a way as possible. Unfortunately the time taken to do so is interminable! If only Danni is ringing customers then why don't they get other people to help her???
morganrogers 04-04-2003, 03:01 AM Oilman - I too spoke to Danni and had the same conversation as you I think ! !
Yep - top marks to Danni (Mazda , if you are reading promote this girl - she is the only example of customer care I have seen! )
Would be interested to hear your news when she does come back...
cheers -
Morgan.
jimbobjoe 04-04-2003, 03:11 AM I hope she calls soon.
You've now got me worried that they haven't got my order straight.
I've never been able to look at the order online as I never got a password for the website.
Glynnb 04-04-2003, 04:50 AM This id my first post.
I received my pack and phone call last week, so it is happening
Titanium Grey 04-04-2003, 07:08 AM Got my call about an hour ago, she said now the details are correct they will send out my welcome pack.
Hopefully first class for next day post!
(I'll believe it when I see it):p
oilman 04-05-2003, 02:16 PM YES, GOT MINE AT LAST:D
BELIEVE ME, IT'S NOTHING TO RAVE ABOUT:(
GOT IT ANYWAY:p
Cheers
Oilman
lurcher 04-05-2003, 05:10 PM Danni is becoming something of a star. ne1 got pix?!?!?!11
Lensman 04-06-2003, 04:41 AM Well Danni works for a car company so presumably there will be stealthily acquired images (from a distance) of her half covered in plastic appearing in industry magazines soon... ;)
jimbobjoe 04-06-2003, 08:51 AM My welcome pack has arrived.
Yippee.
It's nice to have confirmation at last that the order has gone through ok, and the specification is correct.
The confirmation contains a picture of the car in the colour you ordered it, and the options you have specified, and the price.
It's nice to finally get something.
Bored now, want some extra toys NOW.:D
Titanium Grey 04-07-2003, 07:00 AM Mine arrived this morning. :D
Now how long do we have to wait for the next stage???
Simon 04-07-2003, 08:10 AM Just got my call. It was from someone other than Danni (I didn't ask for a name) and all the details they had for me were correct.
morganrogers 04-08-2003, 02:15 AM I GOT IT AT LAST ! ! ! !
YEAH ! ! !
I dont care if it is not much - it is something and for that I am grateful !
It also clearly states 'monthly updates' so that is something to look forward to.....
MarkW 04-08-2003, 02:38 AM I think I must be the only one without a welcome pack now :( :(
I havent even had a call from Dani or anyone else for that matter.
Im fedup of calling them as they just give me excuses.
Montly updates......what a laugh. I ordered my car 2 1/2 months ago and havent had a single update yet.
Simon 04-08-2003, 04:33 AM Hang in there Mark. I only got mine yesterday.
RobWilliams 04-08-2003, 07:19 AM I got mine at the weekend . No phone call beforehand although I ordered from a dealer rather than the website.
Surprisingly the pack does not show what colour leather I ordered. I called the helpline to confirm that it should be black leather.
Cheers
Rob
jimbobjoe 04-08-2003, 07:33 AM The leather options are shown on the website. Your login information should be included on the confirmation pack.
RobWilliams 04-08-2003, 08:46 AM jimbobjoe
I checked the order on the website first and it just says 'leather upholstery', no mention of the colour.
cheers
Rob
Yep,
Got my confirmation this morning. Pretty much the same spec as most I presume:
Titanium Grey, Leather, 240ps.
EP305.......I hope that there is not going to be 300 in the first batch and they go by the EP no.:)
Monthly updates will consist of:
Delayed sorry but we are having a problem with the paintwork
Delayed sorry but we are having a supply problem with the doors
Etc
Sorry about being too pessimistic but I was let down with delivery on an R32. I'm sure it will be fine, it can't happen to me twice within 12 months.
Lensman 04-08-2003, 01:01 PM Hmmm, did you ALL get ep numbers in the welcome pack? I didn't but I ordered through the website and have 200306 as my reference number. I've no idea at all where this places me in the queue though?! Any ideas please?
Titanium Grey 04-08-2003, 02:04 PM Yes, got an RX8-EP number in mine number in mine.
Probaly something to do with changing your order, give them a call and ask, no use trying to guess.
oilman 04-08-2003, 05:22 PM Lensman,
Mine says:
User ID: EP365
Password: xxxxxxxx
Order No: RX8 EP365
240ps
6MT
Leather Upholstery
Metallic Paint
Total OTR Price £23495 (less 20% good Custonmer Discount)
Cheers
Oilman
zoom44 04-08-2003, 05:28 PM oilman, your password seems to have come out all x's from my view. could you type it over again please? ;)
Lensman 04-09-2003, 04:06 AM Mazda UK got back to me and as I suspected my 200306 number IS my order number. We don't all have EP numbers apparently, perhaps because I ordered through the website and not a dealer. Anyway, having any number doesn't indicate one way or the other when the car will actually appear...
Titanium Grey 04-09-2003, 12:47 PM When I recieved my call I asked how many orders have been recieved now. After being told they couldn't give me exact numbers she told me that they now had over 600 orders.
Not bad for a car that hasn't recieved much press coverage / advertising.
MarkW 04-10-2003, 11:56 AM 600 doesnt seem too bad, as you say the car has had very little press.
Im sure it will start to grow a bit after X-2 and when people see the car in the press and for real over the next few months.
However, 600 would be a lot better if our allocation was 1000.
600 out of 3500 is only 16.5%.
If they sell 1000 by August, this leaves 2500 available for the last 4 months of the year.
Nobody knows if these will all sell though Mazda UK must have done their sums. I just hope supply doesnt exceed demand or we will all loose out on the residuals.
bugbear 04-10-2003, 03:51 PM Dont know if the EP numbers are sequential, if they are I've got EP719 so - at least 719 cars ordered. Plus I ordered in Jan and wont be happy if I'm well down the list!
Contigo 04-12-2003, 03:55 PM Not had a call or anything from them. Just started sitting back from it now to be honest.
Got back from Vegas today and saw loads of 350Z's on the strip.
Got some mags with all sorts of shootouts in them.
Lensman 04-12-2003, 04:05 PM Is the 350Z an entrancing sight?
Back from hols and there it was sitting on the mat. Nothing special but they have personalisd them at least.
rael
MarkW 04-17-2003, 08:04 AM Am I the only one still waiting for my welcome pack?
I called them again yesterday to ask what was happening. I have been told it will take a 'little time' for me to receive it as there is 'a holdup with them'.
It makes it worse as I know everyone else has had theirs by now and makes me think there may be a problem with my order.
They have assured me everything is OK and I just cant be bothered keep chasing it so Im just going to leave it now, it comes when it comes.
Kenco 04-17-2003, 04:48 PM Hi
I paid a deposit to my local Mazda dealer a day or two after the RX8 price was announced. i have spoke to them several times regarding the arrival of the elusive confirmation pack! only to get 'it should be with you soon!' as the replies.
How can I contact the necessary mazda people myself to check the progress of my order?
All revvved up
Kenco
Lensman 04-17-2003, 04:53 PM Kenco, try 08457 484848 which is the number for Mazda UK.
shahpor 04-19-2003, 01:11 PM I still haven't received mine yet
Called them twice last week and they said it was on its way.
Did get the finance and insurance documentation though.

Throw the insurance one away. You really don't want a quote from mazda
MarkW 05-12-2003, 06:41 AM Well I finally got my welcome pack through today, An A4 letter and a 3 page foldout brochure confirming all my details etc. I presume this is the same as everyone else.
I just hope that when you receive the pack has no bearing on when you receive the car, as I wont be very happy if you all get your cars one month earlier than me as well! :(

WHAT?! You haven't got your car yet. Didn't we all mention that ours were delivered last week???
AnilS 05-12-2003, 10:27 AM MarkW, I too received my "welcome" pack from Mazda UK today. I know the forum moods tend to pan Mazda UK for lack of information, (for which I agree), but its May and I ordered the car 0n the 24th Jan!!
I can't help thinking that Mazda believe they have such a winning product that they need do very little to promote it or keep loyal customers hanging on the every word (chance would be a fine thing).
My dealer evens knows that the RX8 is one of three cars I am looking to purchase this year, but is making no attempt at trying to keep my business.
It's a shame as its No 1 on my list and I've brought a private plate for it. Ho Hum, that'll be up for sale if Mazda continue to display apathy.
AnilS
M1 RX8 05-13-2003, 09:02 AM I am STILL waiting on my confirmation pack (ordered in Jan thru dealer)
Whenever I call Mazda UK I get fobbed off with "if it's not with you by the end of the week call back!"
I am fed up chasing them, I have still had no receipt for my dosh either........GRRRRR
morganrogers 05-14-2003, 02:10 AM Hasn't rael got the numberplate 'M1RXB' ?
M1 RX8 05-14-2003, 04:08 AM possibly but its an '8' not a 'B'!:)
