watup guys, ive had my 8 for 2 weeks now and it's time for a wash, but ive never had a new car as nice as this one and don't want to mess anything up so soon. Can anyone give me an idea of how they wash the car "complete clean". What soap and wax to use, do you clean tires first or second? ect, thanks alot

make sure microfiber towels

veilsidev1...definitely look around there are about a million threads on rx8club regarding your exact questions...

also there are many many theories on how to do things...and what products to use...here is my take...I am no expert but I do fall under the somewhat lazy bastard category who wants a show shine check out this post I left (one minor change is you can also use a leaf blower to dry the car without spotting...I have a softwater hose hookup so it really isn't an issue for me which is why I forgot to post it)

For wax I use Collinite 845 insulator wax (http://webpages.charter.net/jonw440/)




I do the tires first, then the wheels. I do them one at a time. Tire then wheel, move to next tire, then wheel, etc.
For tire I use Mothers Rubber cleaner, for wheels P21S. I also Klasse my rims.

For the wheels yes us a Micro Fiber towel to dry them. BUT make sure you mark the towel somewhere on a corner with a mark.I used a "Sharpie" marker so you don't use it on the car paint.
As for drying the car. I use the California Water Blade then finish up any remaining water with a Sonus Ultimate drying towel. I used to use the "Absorber" but the Sonus towel dries so much faster and it's softer. I bought 6 of them. (Yes I marked one for use on my rims)

First I need to know what "Brand" of wax are you using? Some require "Hazing"> Thats when it turns white. The solvents (which make the wax spreadable have evaporated) and just leaves the wax. But some don't require hazing at all. About changing the MF towel. Just start like this. Wipe down the roof, then turn the MF over to expose a clean side and finish the roof. Then shake the towel to remove any "wax Dust". The do the trunk, refold MF and finish trunk. Shake out MF again until your done.

for NXT tech wax...haze just means a kind of foggy look (if you used too much...no problem but it will then leave a white residue or streaks) then wipe off with microfiber towels...this buffs it looking great!

im sorry for keeping asking questions, but i dont want to take any risks with my 8, so microfiber towels are for drying, right, and what do you wash it with as in what cloth, thanks alot guys for all your help, by the way im sticking to nxt

use a chenelle mitt or if you like just a chenelle pad...I have two chenelle pads, one for tires one for paint...I labeled it with a sharpie

I like the chenelle over other materials as it has deep fibers which lift dirt and draw it in to keep dirt from scratching the paint...plus it hold soap and lathers well...good luck!

one last thing, after all the wash, what do you guys put on the wheels to protect and shine them?
